A pleasant site, perhaps a little expensive for what it is (£12 per night for our family of four), but not too much so. We were there for four nights over the Queen's Jubilee weekend, so it was quite busy. I think the electric pitches were all taken - the field with hookups was certainly packed. Non-electric pitches were less crowded, and even if they had been full, there would still have been plenty of free space.

Pitches are all marked, but not rigidly delimited. You are given a free choice of any that are available. The site is all grass, with plenty of trees to give shelter from wind and sun. The site has its own slipway into a dyke leading directly to the river Bure, only a hundred yards from its junction with the river Thurne.

Toilets and showers were satisfactory, and sufficient for the numbers of campers, but there was only one block, and you could be a fair walk away from them. There is a single washing machine, and a single dryer.

Potter Heigham 4 miles to the north, Acle 4 miles to the south, both of which provide boat hire on the Broads, if you haven't brought your own boat.

The pitch fee covers only the pitch, everything else is extra, including a short shower for 20p, hot water for clothes washing, also 20p, and swimming pool £1 adults, 60p children. Having said that, the fee did keep the pool uncrowded, and it was very well maintained.

The site has a shop, but this was not open during our visit, for unknown reasons.

I agree with the write up (Nick Porter, above). The site is a little expensive for what is on site. Plus the extras you have to pay for basic needs ie showers, swimming pool but otherwise it is a pleasant location

Just to bring this report up to date, Don & Barbara no longer charge for showers or hot water for washing up. The shop on site has been closed for the last two seasons, but sweets/ice creams and milk/fruit juice/cans of pop are available from the fridge and freezer in reception.

There are also table tennis, pool and snooker available in the games room, and a well stocked fishing lake.

Also, there are two toilet blocks, not the one as reported. If people are going to knock a site, the least they can do is get their facts right! [He's right, there are two toilet blocks, but they are both in the same collection of buildings, so I stand by my comments about potentially being a long walk - Nick Porter]

Ik heb een stacaravan op deze camping en ook een 30ft (ca. 9 meter) cruiser. Ik denk persoonlijk dat deze camping bijzonder goed geoutilleerd is voor beide toepassingen, omdat ik het ook van de campingkant heb gezien. Vergeleken met andere campings, denk ik dat de prijs redelijk is en heeft veel te bieden. Er is een café op ongeveer 10 minuten loopafstand, en als je wil zijn er voldoende keuzes in café's, rustplaatsen en winkels langs de rivier.

Zoals al gezegd is de camping plezierige en landelijke plaats om te blijven.

We personally love this site. We have been here both in a tent and a caravan. The site is well placed for touring and walking and the pub is a ten-minute walk by track over fields. Not wanting to give too much away on my opinion, as we don't want all and sundry to come!! We like it because it is a nice friendly, quiet family site with lots of space between your tents and caravans. Yes it does have an outside pool that you have to pay for but as stated above at least it limits the numbers. If you're looking for an all singing all dancing, club and supermarket on site etc etc then it is the wrong site for you!!
