We were hiring a Motorhome for the first time and picked at random this site in Northumberland.

The site is at the end of a 3 mile narrow twisting pot-holed road. The Motorhome bounced around like a pea on a drum even at 10 - 15 mph.

The site has very few, if any, level pitches and we used all our blocks in an attempt to level the vehicle.

The washroom/toilet block is adequate.

There is a 'shop' on site that opens for 2 hours a day selling only the basics and anyone staying for any length of time would need to bring there own provisions.

Shops, eating establishments and pubs are many miles away.

Other reviews mention 'peace and quiet' and I would agree with that but for one thing.

A flock of sheep regularly appeared on site at different times of the day. Being woken at 6am by a chorus of bleating is probably a tad worrying if you're in a tent.

The beach, just yards over the sand dunes stretches for mile after mile and the sea is over half a mile from the shore line.

The flat sand and endless beach is by far the biggest appeal about this site.

The owner is friendly and helpful - when found.

The whole site has potential for improvement, levelling would certainly help, and parts of the land are cordoned off because there unusable.

There are no play facilities, pool or entertainment.

Would I make the effort to go again - probably not.

Another site within thirty miles, that we stayed at on during the same holiday, had a much better site and facilities for the same price we were charged at this site.

I stayed at this camp site a few years ago and have always loved the Northumbrian coast. I recently took a friend down to see the site whilst we were there we walked the dogs on the beach.

There was no one on the site when we arrived which is to be expected out of season upon returning from the beach the owner approached and asked what we were doing there we explained that I was showing my friend the location of the site etc as its off the beaten track which may I add is in desperate need of repair, his reply was the beach isn't the campsite

My friend was immediately put off by his attitude and won't be returning.

The beach is the only attraction to the site as there is nothing there at all except chicken.

This was an ideal opportunity for the owner to sell the site to us give us prices for the site and horses etc but no.

We were relieved to get off the site as they are very ignorant people and I don't see the need for what could be a really prosperous business go down the tubes because of the owners lack of hospitality

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beachcomber. The owner was really friendly and helpful. The showers and loos were really clean as were the washing up facilities. There was always plenty of hot water. The kids could have plenty of freedom to play. It was a genuine family site. One regret - we only visited for the first time this summer and would love to return, but its future is uncertain.

We loved the campsite and found the owners charming and helpful despite being now weary after a long season. I hope it stays open as many children must remember holidays spent here with great fondness. It's a very rare unspoilt unrestricted site and should be preserved by new owners continuing in the same way. I met many families and groups of friends who have returned year after year for that special atmosphere which only the Beachcomber site can provide.

I found the campsite very expensive compared to the facilities it had to offer. It was extremely dirty and in my opinion badly managed. The owner were very rude and at times aggressive. I would never stay again nor recommend to anyone. Worst campsite I have ever visited.
