Been here quite a few times over the last 10 years or so but I must say it has gone down hill....badly! This used to be such a perfect place for camping as it is right next to the beach, there is a lovely pub and chip shops there and the views are lovely! BUT......prices have shot up and standards have gone way down.

The toilet blocks aren't really kept in a satisfactory order, they are dirty and not cleaned more than once a day.

The owners are now allowing young groups of boys/girls to stay on the site who bring alcohol, noise and usually have no concern for anyone around them!

Rules are put in place by the owners but the generally turn a blind eye to any that are broken....i.e music being played to all hours in the morning!

I must say that it's really disappointing to see this campsite go down hill so badly - it used to be such a lovely place to visit.

Our experience of Carreglwyd campsite is one we would not like to have again.

On arrival you get a nice list of camp rules, which are to be obeyed or face eviction, any time of day or night. Tents were set up closer than the fire regulation of 3m and kites were being flown in every field (which are banned for obvious reasons). One rule on their sheet stated at 11pm all radios were to be turned off - no exceptions. This was not the case.

Having travelled for 5 hours to get there, my partner and I were very tired and at midnight there were still radios on. Reporting this to the site 'caretaker' who was clearly deaf, made no difference (we got the "so what!" speech too) and, subsequently, we packed up and left at half past midnight and travelled four hours to get home for 4:30am in the morning.

Overall we were disgusted and no refund or apology has been given, despite them breaking their own rules. AVOID THIS CAMP SITE. GO TO ANOTHER.

We have been camping at Carreglwyd for twenty years and it is a favourite place of ours. The facilities are basic and kept as clean as possible by the friendly staff who deal with thousands of holiday makers during the season. The grass is trimmed regularly to make it easier during the wet weather. Our children have been treated to rides on the tractor by the lovely owner. He has a jolly tribe of children who will eagerly pick up litter for a ride in the trailer. No longer do they have water fights on site as the water is now metered making the showers and washing areas free to holiday makers though particularly expensive for the owners. We love the kite flying on a windy day and with so many regular visitors you can always find plenty of folk to play cricket or football with. The site is right on the beach with a perfect view of Devon. Bliss!

We have just returned from our first camping holiday, we spent a week here. The weather was probably the worst ever week on record for this time of year. We had a great time battling against the elements cos we had such good friends with us, and we all just got on with it. Twixt the rainfalls and high winds we got out and had fun.

The facilities on site i.e shower blocks/toilets were newly refurbished and kept very clean.

BAD NEWS....The staff are ex Gestapo, you are not made welcome or treated like holidaymakers at all. The elder staff seem to have mellowed a little and will on occasions be seen to crack a possible smile. The younger staff, the female in particular, should be avoided at all times. Someone be brave and tell these people they live in a very special place, look around and say "How lucky am I?" Then just try and make other people want to come back and keep them in that lifestyle.

This campsite is the worst I have ever visited, after 2 hours of traveling, we were greeted the owner rob who thrust a copy of the rules and told is we didn't obey we would be evicted, the kids were not allowed to play and the wardens who acted like prison guards drove me insane by driving their quads round and round the site !! The pitch was wonky and had a massive ditch in it, no parks for the kids so I don't think they should advertise for families !!!! Terrible place will not be going again .
