Deze recensie is niet erg recent. Inmiddels kan er op de camping veel zijn veranderd.

This is my second visit to Coopers Campsite in Edale and it is now my last. There are more sites and even Fieldend Campsite right next door who will now get my custom. WHY? Their policy to charge my 13month old baby adult price is nothing but greed and even cheekier to tell me its because she will be using the facilities. For one my baby is still a crawler and is still wearing nappies and won't be using the toilets. There are steps and a wall adjacent to the shower block/toilet area making it difficult to get a pram through the door. There is no baby changing table and the floors were dirty. From the field I stayed in to get to the washrooms or the water tap I had to go through the gap in the hedge which they had not maintained very well because it was over hanging in bramble and nettles.
The family next to me stayed the same two nights as myself (midweek so not too busy) and were charged less! On asking why, Mrs Campsite owner replied "they are a family and I charged the family price; I charged you for a man and his little boy." Well this is my fourth camping trip with 'my family' and I have not even been charged for my baby before. Prior to even paying I was left hanging around waiting for the unfriendly service to overcharge me.
There is one hot water tap for all the sinks outside for washing pots - so make sure you take your washing up bowl to carry water to your sink (not very safe for young children!).
The cafe was not open when it said it would be (Friday lunchtime) and does close when it is not busy (there is a cafe next to train station if you find it closed).
The shop does not sell full fat milk (in case you want it for children), the folk in the Post Office shop are friendly, shame about the campsite. Campsite became busy when I left Friday afternoon. Just no need to charge a baby adult price!!

I hate to admit but nothing much has improved since Dustie's visit in 2006. The cranky owners have no reason to be so irritable with people who are contributing to their income and way of life. And by contribution I mean paying more for bad service and worse facilities that you can get elsewhere. This is a site best avoided. As the location itself is gorgeous, when ever possible call the site across the road and book in advance so you can enjoy the scenery from there!

It's still the same; miserable welcome and expected to pay a refundable deposit in case you are a troublemaker.
Go to Fieldhead campsite opposite, much nicer campsite and recently refurbished. Rather than just use the two expensive pubs in Edale, why not get the train to Hope and Hathersage and try the pubs there, also the Indian restaurant is very good
