I have just returned from this campsite today after having spent a Friday and Saturday night there with my wife and son and am so disgusted with the contempt and rudeness of the site owners I want to advise as many people as I can to do all possible to find an alternative site.
After phoning and booking on Wednesday I advised the owner that I would be arriving before 9pm at the latest as I was working on the Friday and travelling from Essex so couldn't get there any earlier. Unfortunately we hit traffic and didn't get there until 9:07pm precisely to be met by a closed sign on the securely padlocked gate. Thinking this was not a problem and also having my 22 month old son in our campervan I knocked on the reception door. After about 5 minutes a very rude and clearly disgruntled site owner advised me that they close the gates "when it gets dark" and don't open till the following morning. I was advised in his own words "It says closed on the gate doesn't it?" Yes I replied to which he replied "but people still think it's ok to come knocking on my door don't they?". Anyway needing a pitch for the night I didn't say a word and eventually was allowed to park my van up.
Upon leaving on Sunday I took my toilet block key back to claim back my £10 deposit. The reception was once again closed, after 5 minutes of waiting the site owners wife opened the door and before I had chance to say a word barked at me "be quick I've got a pan on the stove". As a paying customer I was once again made to feel like a total inconvenience in being there. My wife too was also spoken to extremely rudely when she asked where the drinking water tap was as were the people in the campervan next to us. After reading other peoples reviews of this site I wasn't just unlucky in catching them on a bad day.
In the toilet blocks there are newspaper clippings stating that the council will be closing the site in 2011 to build houses and a park on the site and to register your support for the site by signing their petition. To be quite frank the husband and wife team who run this site are so rude and arrogant that they deserve to have the site shut on them. At least that way they won't be able to continue with their rude arrogant ways.
If you want to give your hard earned money to two people who don't want you there and view you as a hindrance then this is the place for you. Otherwise find any other site but this one!

I have been visiting Daisy Fields for 15 years with my family. It is the best site I have visited. My idea of camping as a family person is a basic site in the country side on a family orientated site Handy to the beach and other attractions, close to public transport, all of these things the site has. I have found the owners very nice people. I travel from Devon to the site. After putting up my trailer tent, the owners invite my family in for a cup of tea. Les and Jene have a unique sense of humour and are plain speaking. Which are qualities I like in a person. The toilets are clean and tidy. Les and Jene are very good with children. I would recommend the site to any one. Some of my friends have visited and also have enjoyed it.

I have visited Daisy Fields for 14 years now and it has never failed to make my holiday a great time! I have visited other campsites in the area but none of them are as enjoyable as this 1. The cost to stay here is very reasonable and quite possibly the cheapest around. It has a very nice toilet/shower block which is very well maintained and well stocked. There is a charge of £10 for a key to the toilet/shower block because of previous damage, but this is returned at the end of your stay. There is a good play park on the site that I have spent many hours playing in and making new friends. There are many attractions nearby and the beach is 5 minutes down the road and there is a large superstore just a few minutes down the road which is very useful. There is a road fairly near to the site but we have parked next to the gate near to the road and it does not affect us in the slightest little bit. We have been on various pitches around the site and each 1 of them has been a good spot to stay. The owners are very friendly and always have a smile on there face and always offer us in for a cup of tea as we arrive after driving up all the way from Devon. There is a small but useful shop which is very cheap. There is good cctv in various areas around the site which makes the site a very safe place to be. There is only lights near the toilet block but this does not affect us because you can't sleep in a very light area. I would recommend this to anyone who loves camping! I will be returning to this campsite as it is such a friendly and safe environment for adults and children. I think that the plans to build houses on this site is diabolical and should not be allowed!!!! This site has been here for many years and it Les and Jenes livelihood. Les and Jene spend 24hours a day and 7days a week working on this campsite to make it the best they possibly can. It is devastating news to hear what the council wants to do, it will be a great shame to have been coming here for 14 years then stopping because of this ludicrous development!!

We stayed at Daisyfields in May this year 2010 in our motorhome. It was a very pleasant site, and we found the owners most helpful at all times, nothing was too much trouble.
The site was clean and tidy, also toilets and shower block. If ever we went to stay in this area again, this is the place we would choose. It would be a very sad day if the council got to close this site.

We have just returned from two nights at Daisyfields in Littlehampton. On the plus side, the site is very handy for Littlehampton and Arundel and other local places and it's a basic but adequate site with a decent toilet / shower block. On the other hand, I don't think I've ever been to a place with such churlish and disgruntled owners - we presume they are husband and wife. For some reason, the toilet block is kept locked at all times so a key is needed - one key between 7 was a bit of a tall order, so we tried to weight the door open with a bucket when people were going in and out for showers. This produced an incredibly angry, aggressive reaction from the owner. He ran after my 14 year old daughter with the bucket, threatening to throw it away! It was a huge inconvenience having the toilets locked all the time - who is going to get into them other than the campers? The campsite is off a dual carriageway in amongst many new housing estates. He also shouted at her for swinging on the gate to the site (which strictly has to be shut after your car goes out) and my 10 year old son for taking a quick pee in the bushes! Someone else had the precious toilet key so it was necessary, I'm afraid. The site itself looks very neglected. It seems that an effort was made at one time to create nice planting, low hedges etc, but they all looked as though they hadn't been trimmed or cared for at all for about 2 years. And that boat at the entrance, why has it been left to fill with weeds when it's the first thing you see on coming in? - a bit depressing really. It seems as though the owners would much rather be doing something else - and perhaps they should.
