I have visited Croyde Bay for the last 15+ years and the place itself is great. I have passed the site on many occasions and would point out that the site is for youngsters willing to rough it. The locals of Croyde do cash in on the holiday season (but who can blame them as the season in the UK is very limited) I always stay at the Bay View campsite which is very expensive, run by very strict people but, extremely good. When you camp in a non rated site you take your chances.

I also camped at Cherry Tree Farm campsite, Croyde, in August 2008 during bad weather. However, we had a completely different experience to Mwgan. Yes it rained a lot, but this is something outside the control of a campsite and something to be expected as a possibility when camping in the UK. We have always found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. Our original pitch became quite wet and the staff went over and above to help us move to a better position within the campsite, something we also saw them doing for many other campers. We have been camping at Cherry Tree Farm for many years as a young family and with friends and look forward to returning each year.

Bedenk dat de meeste mensen sneller iets schrijven over klachten, dan wanneer ze complimenten willen geven over goede service.

I'm sure this is a nice campsite when the sun shines but having just experienced a rainy couple of days in a field with no drainage my feelings are now pretty negative to this place. Don't expect any sympathy if the inadequate drainage leaves your tent floating in four inches of water on what is very quick to become marsh land. The owner is grumpy and greedy and wouldn't even refund the nights we had paid for in advance despite having to leave before the end of our stay. And at £11 per person per night he's on to a bit of a winner there.
This is an unloved campsite, the staff are all kids looking for a summer in the surf and customer service is not poor it's just non existent. Also we saw a member of staff standing the bucket she was using to clean the toilets in the washing up sink to fill it! So if you must go make sure your jabs are up to date.

July 2009 - We have just camped for a week at Cherry Tree Farm Campsite. The campsite is quite large, but feels smaller as fields are divided up into smaller areas.
The facilities are basic - there are several toilet and shower blocks, which had constant hot water at any time of day or night and did not require money/tokens. So didn't have to walk far to reach one where ever your pitch is. Toilets were clean and stocked well with paper. The washing up sinks are exposed outdoors, but also had hot water. Large water tub provided to wash out wet suits.
Staff - Lots of them - all young, polite, informative and organised. Didn't hear single swear word all week, despite awful weather. One sits on entry barrier all day, rain or shine, checking cars entry, makes site feel safer.
Freezer block swap service in reception and mobile phone charging offered in exchange for small charity donation.
Nearest shop is 10 min walk into Croyde vilage. Lots of local info leaflets in reception.
Kids - There are no playgrounds at this site for young children, but the site are very tolerent of them playing on the grass. Our boys were able to have fun playing cricket and football in the large open spaces without being told off by fussy campsite owners.
The beach is 5 min walk from site, perfect location for surfers/campers.
We paid £10.00 per adult, £5.00 each child per night in peak summer season. Reasonable rates considering excellent location in Croyde Bay.

We have been regular visitors to Croyde since 1978 and have pitched up at just about every camp site there plus rented accommodation. This was our first visit to Cherry Tree farm and quite frankly, we were very impressed. A site with free hot water throughout the day, every day, with clean toilets and well laid out & maintained pitches cannot be classed as basic. I also loved the rambling layout of the showers.
The staff were very helpful and friendly and the reception was open from 8:00 am (well when I got up anyway) to 11.00pm and the gate was always manned. Useful services like the icepack freezing and phone charging were on a donation to charity basis. Quite a novel and generous arrangement we thought.
The overall feeling we got was one of a family orientated site with lots of space. Generous sized pitches and what appeared to be a rotation plan whereby pitches were left unused, opening up the area and giving the grass time to recover. The same cannot be said for other sites in the area which just pack'em in.
Although our first visit (and it rained!!!) it won't be our last. I
