Domaine de Kerlann is a Haven campsite, but I think it had only recently been taken over when we went in 1997. I hope they've improved it a bit since then.

Pitches with electricity were in small cul-de-sacs for 6 or 8. We were without electricity, and were in an open field, with pitches marked out on the grass. That suited us fine, the electric pitches looked claustrophobic to us.

The site is obviously being re-plumbed, but several of the old defunct water taps were still sticking up out of the ground, and were all too easy to stumble over in the dark.

The toilet/washing/shower blocks were fine, but inadequately cleaned, and there was some maintenance required.

The central facilities were good, with a snack bar and restaurant, but a poorly stocked shop.

Three pools - the main one was 4-5 feet deep all over, so no good for poor or non-swimmers. A second was 1-3 feet, and generally used for volleyball, and the third was a paddling pool. So there was nowhere for our not-yet-swimming 5-year-old to practise.

Entertainment for the kids was laid on, though our children don't particularly go for that sort of thing. Evening entertainment was noisy, and could be heard all over the site until midnight. This was not what we wanted on holiday, and it rather spoilt things.

There are lots of very good beaches nearby, with easy access and free parking. Nearest supermarket, about 2 miles, at Nevez.

I had occasion to visit this campsite in 1999, and I found it rather lovely and open. My comments on the personnel would not be objective, as my brother works there, but all the same I have had cause to appreciate the kindness of the English staff (the site still belongs to the Haven group).

This campsite, as far as I know, is still in the process of re-construction, and I think that for some time it will not match other sites of the same group, such as La Pignade at Vias in the Hérault.

What’s more, it is situated in a splendid region, close to Concarneau, Quimperlé, etc. There are many visits to make, for all tastes.

I truly recommend this campsite to everybody.

My family stayed at this site with Haven last May, and enjoyed the site so much that we bought our own mobile home. We returned a further three times in 2001. We enjoy some entertainment but felt that we could choose either to join in or not. We cannot hear any entertainment from our mobile home. The staff are friendly and helpful and just since last May many improvemnts have been made such as tarmac roads within the site. If things can change from May 2001 to October 2001, I am sure a lot has changed since 1997. Maybe you [Nick Porter, who wrote the review of 1997] should give it another go, especially as the area has such a lot to offer. Just two weeks to go until we go again. I can't wait

My wife, our 4 year old boy and I visited this wonderful region in France with our friends, who had 3 lads of different ages during August 2002. The camp gives a very good first impression on arrival, which only improved as our holiday progressed through our 2 week stay.

All of the children found the camp secure when enjoying the several play areas (all with a different theme) located around the camp. The entertainment was adequate enough to keep a smile on the kids’ faces, yet no pressure was felt to join in the activities, if that was your wish.

The bar, shop and restaurant were ok if a little expensive. However with the lovely location of the camp, several villages and towns nearby provided more than adequate markets and restaurants to provide many a lovely day or evening out from the camp.

When on camp the staff were friendly and helpful, the pool staff especially giving a very safe feel to the swimming activities during the day and all parents had 100% trust in the abilities of the pool staff and the facilities in and around the pool area!

We ventured around every square inch of the camp and its surrounding regions and overall found this a holiday to remember with affection. The local beaches and towns around the region are beautiful and the food in shops or restaurants was very reasonable and very, very delicious. It even made the kids forget about the that awful place beginning with "M", for this alone I Thank the people of France!!!

Our Holiday was only enhanced by the Haven campsite’s attention to detail in ensuring a pleasant time for my family and friends. The camp has certainly got our approval and we very much look forward to a swift return to such a wonderful region in France!

Keep up the fantastic work, 10 out of 10

We have visited this site 3 times in the last 4 years and have already booked for 2004. Where do I start? This really is a beautiful park, which is maintained to the highest standards. The flexibility to book as many days as you like and the various levels of accommodation mean that no matter what your budget, there's an option there for you. The holiday homes provide excellent value, being very comfortable and spacious. They are well equipped in all areas. On the only occasion I had a problem, the maintenance guy was there repairing it before I could walk the 200 yards back from reception. You can't ask more than that!

The only word of warning is to bring sufficient blankets if you go in Sept / Oct as the temperature really can drop overnight. The swimming pools are superb and the presence of the numerous lifeguards offers reassurance.

We have always found the Kids Clubs to be really well run, with motivated staff, even towards the end of the year. My two children were regular visitors and never came away disappointed. The emphasis is always on participation and enjoyment, without pressure. Given that they cater from 1 year olds to teenagers you can't go wrong.

The on-site shop and take-away are well stocked, if a little expensive. The same is true of the bars, however there is a supermarket a mile down the road where we tended to buy all of our food.

The local area also adds to the holiday, with many beautiful sandy bays and the beautiful small town of Pont Aven with it's market. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this site, but book early! It fills up very quickly.

My wife and I and our two daughters visited the site in May 2003, and were so impressed we bought a mobile home there.

We again visited the site in October to take delivery of the mobile home, and were impressed by the level of service provided by the bilingual staff.

The entertainment, it must be said, was a little ‘different’; however, it did bring a smile to our faces.

Our mobile home is only three minutes walk from the bars and restaurant, and I have to say we didn’t notice too much noise.

The bar we found to be expensive, however local restaurants were excellent and very reasonable.

All in all a wonderful place to spend a relaxing family holiday.

My husband and I have returned here every year for the last six years. We have two daughters who love the place. My parents enjoyed it so much that they bought a place. Going back again this Easter. Although it is quieter then we enjoy this time of year the most. Great for young families during the summer seasons, but more relaxing and peaceful towards the beginning of the year. The surrounding areas are just great. If you appreciate seafood then the restaurants are fab, although they cater for most tastes. Some short distance away is park odet leisure, which must be visited as it is a fun day out for all ages. The camp itself is extremely clean and the staff make a point of being helpful and friendly. Just hoping for a small windfall so we can buy a holiday home here ourselves.

Domaine de Kerlann was a totally new experience for me. It was a lot of fun and you would never be bored. I would love to go there again, because it was wicked.

I normally spend my summer holidays here with my 4 children. It really is the ideal campsite. The children adore this place, they’re never bored; always running from left to right, there are so many activities to try, and what’s more, it’s very relaxing.

I had the opportunity to spend 2 days and 2 nights in this superb area. The mobile homes are high quality. The area is brill. The pool is very pleasant. The staff very friendly. In summary, a most relaxing weekend! The only snag for us French, visiting outside school term, is that many of the activities were conducted in English, and above all, no activities for the children on Saturday morning (one Saturday evening, but in English!).

In conclusion, I’m in two minds about buying a mobile home... because the English and me... Rather than doing that, we might as well go to Ireland, which is a magnificent country, inhabited by charming people.

Apart from that, the site in itself is really great. As for the surroundings, they are fabulous! But that’s to be expected: isn’t France the best country in the world?? Ok, I am a bit chauvinistic around the edges, but you must agree that Brittany is really one of the most beautiful regions of France!

We passed the Pentecost weekend in this fabulous campsite. Young dynamic staff. Super pool. Pleasant clean site. It’s a shame there are so many English: one gets the impression that everything is geared to them!

But still, the young activity leaders are very considerate!

We hope to return one day.

My husband, I and our four children aged between 9 and 3 loved the two weeks we spent at the site in May 2007. The site is very well laid out - much better than any of the sites here in the UK. The kids clubs were a godsend to the older two who made loads of friends and the nearby beaches were fab. We loved the whole package so much we have already booked for 2008 and are just counting the days until we cross the channel!!

Visited the park now named Siblu in July 2007 as mentioned it is still owned by Haven. Had a great family holiday. Superb location, excellent modern facilities. Ended up buying our own holiday home. Can not wait to get back a.s.a.p. Compared to other local sites there is no comparison.
