A well-appointed site. You can book there direct (see Web Page) or (from the UK) through Eurocamp, Haven, SunSites and others. La Pergola is right on the shores of a small lake (about 3km by 1km), there is a beach about 20-30m wide and perhaps 250m long. This is stony, and once in the water tends to turn into a murky suspension of chalk-dust. The beach is public, and can get quite crowded on hot days. The lake water (in summer) is plenty warm enough to swim in (they were quoting 21degC, but I didn't measure it). There are canoes, pedaloes, windsurfers etc for hire. There are wooded hills all around, with paths and biking. On site, the swimming pools are heated, and were clean and well maintained. The shop was very good, but we still made a couple of trips to supermarkets in Champagnole. Entertainment laid on for the children, but ours did not join in, so can't comment further. The entertainment did stop around 11pm, and the site was quite quiet after that. Restaurant quite acceptable, and even our decidedly un-gastronomic family found food they were willing to eat. In our opinion, the pitches divided into two types: The ones near to the lake, which were well screened by hedges into individual pitches, but which felt claustrophobic to us, and the ones further from the lake, which were cheaper, a bit less neat and tidy, but much more open. These latter were, however, rather near the road, which carried quite heavy traffic for about 16 hours a day. All pitches have electricity and a shared tap. Showers, toilets, laundry and dishwashing were sufficient, had free hot water all the time, and were cleaned at least once a day. There are washing machines and dryers.

If you are looking for a change from traffic jams, overstuffed beaches and little greenery, then the region of Jura is made for you, and this campsite as well. Entertainment is well thought out, facilities excellent, but above all there are loads of things to see in the vicinity of the campsite. Ramblers, take your boots!. The restaurant is very very good, gourmet that I am. The wines are good, and the regional recipes are delicious. In brief, a pleasant stay which I recommend to lovers of nature, If you respect nature, it will return the favour. :-)

We have spent several holidays at La Pergola and each have been extremely enjoyable. We found the site well run, the toilet blocks clean and plentiful. The pool area is magnificent. We have always requested a pitch by the lake and found that they were big enough and private. Our children always made friends and they still keep in touch with a Dutch family we met there.

We hired a mobile home for a fortnight. This is a pretty campsite on the banks of a very pretty lake, in a beautiful region. The toilet facilities are clean, the welcome is satisfactory: good holidays. The only downsides are that the restaurant is fairly expensive, and the evening entertainment (9-11) is repetitive.

We stayed for 10 days at Camping La Pergola in July and August 2006 and despite the terrible weather, found the campsite to be excellent. The surroundings are stunning - the site overlooks a lake and low hills. The lake caters for pedaloes, canoes, boats as well as being warm enough to swim in. The pool complex is reasonably large if a bit cold in the pool. The entertainment team were very enthusiastic performing nightly, organising discos. The shop was reasonably well stocked but we did go out to local supermarkets, which were a bit of a drive. The site is steeply terraced and even with a motor mover, it required all concentration and hands on deck to manoeuvre our caravan onto the pitch. The pitches near the back are quite small, so if you have a big unit, ask for the pitches at the top of the site. This site is excellent if you want an active, walking, cycling type holiday but good if you just want to laze around. It really felt as though we were off the beaten tourist track. The site has a very cosmopolitan feel to it - there were some British families but if you are looking to mix with campers of all nationalities, this is the place for you.

We visited La Pergola for two weeks in the summer of 2006. The site is situated overlooking the lake and it has a super location. Plenty of watersports for the enthusiast: pedaloes, canoes, boats etc. The restaurant overlooks the lake and the food was reasonable. Pitches are a reasonable size, surrounded by an evergreen hedge. Each pitch has its own electric hook up and water. The site is terraced and some of the pitches towards the bottom of the site (near the lake) weren't particularly level and we needed levelling blocks as well as the motor mover to manoeuvre the van into the pitch. Toilet blocks are fine: clean and well maintained with plenty of hot water. The site animation team was excellent - a good range of activities for all the family (cycling, walking, archery, salsa, aerobics, evening shows). Be warned about the weather - this region of France is hilly and rivers/lakes are plentiful! We did experience quite a lot of rain (that second ground sheet did come in useful after all) but it didn't detract from the holiday.

We stayed for two weeks in August 2006. I recommend La Pergola for an active family holiday, especially if you have children 7-14. The lake is a fine facility - you can canoe, hire a pedalo (you can jump or slide into the lake from these things!), or swim/snorkel. Swimming in the lake is fun-no chlorine or salt, and plenty of room. It is a touch chilly, but warmer than you might expect. It is great area for walking with older children, as you do not have long steep climbs, and much of the time are walking in the abundant deciduous forests. It is all very green and lovely with many lakes. The nearby waterfalls, Cascades du Herisson are very busy but spectacular. We didn't cycle, but many did, as some of the terrain is flattish. The site is cleverly laid out to facilitate privacy for most pitches. We stayed in a mobile home with gazebo (good if it rains -it did!).

We booked at the last moment, with Eurocamp and we were very surprised concerning the camp-site, splendid position and beautiful facilities. The activity co-ordination was English or French-speaking. After 5 days we lost our CAMERA, we hope still that someone whom may have found the camera returns it to the camp-site or makes contact with us. Especially for the card that’s in it, because the PHOTOGRAPH is for us of large value!! Our tel.no. 055-5335528 (I assume that’s in Holland (+31), as the original text was in Dutch)
