Our first trip to Sandy Balls by recommendation and we were not disappointed. When booking I asked for a lodge that would accept dogs. (We have three retired Guide dogs) We were accepted and offered out of season in the middle of May a lovely 6 berth lodge. Number 200 100% perfect everyway.
Very clean and well fitted out.
We have only one complaint: the extractor fan was on the yakkie side and was a bit smelly when turned on. Perhaps fans should be cleaned out on a more regular basis, but otherwise highly recommended.
A complete chill out for a few days is all we wanted. I spent a few hours at the salon and the fish pedicure was out of this world. Go for it, open to all / BRILLANT and the massage done by Danny was in my top three "world wide".
All the staff everywhere were very very polite and helpful.
Maybe the shop could have been better stocked but we were only there for a short while and this was not a problem. JUST THE FAN
Sorry no photos. Next time, oh yes there will be plenty of next times
THANK YOU

There are two main problems with this site: the staff, and the lack of security. Firstly the staff: in the restaurant, they argue with each other in front of customers about whose turn it is to clean the tables, then moan all night that they are being over worked, the chef came out to tell us that we couldn't change an item on our dish as he'd "had a bad day", then he decided to have an argument with an old lady because she said her meat was undercooked!?!? The prices were well over priced in there too. Then there is the security: it got to be a standing joke with us and our neighbour as we watched people waking up to find their things missing, and one family had their caravan taken whilst they were in near by Portsmouth. WHAT SECURITY? people are not stopped when they come on to this "Butlins style" holiday centre. And did I mention the toilets? See for yourself! I dread to think what they would be like in high season! I believe that both good and bad reviews should be printed... but the owners of Sandy Balls may put a block on it!

This is the best camp site we have ever stayed on. The facilities are excellent. Loads to do on the site for children and adults. The swimming pools are fantastic with clean changing rooms. We found the shower blocks to be spotless and had made sure that our pitch wasn't too far away from them. One of the best things about the site is that although everyone enjoys themselves in the evening, by 10pm the noise has died down and there are no kids running around causing a nuisance or drunken adult parties (as we have found on other sites). The shop was really well stocked and wasn't too expensive. I would recommend hiring a bike on site. The chap in the bike hire place couldn't have been more helpful despite the fact that we only had bikes for one day! He suggested a great route that went past the best tea rooms we have ever encountered. All in all a great break at a great site. Can't wait to go back this summer!

Just returned from this site (Not my cup of tea really) too large.
The facilities are as described in the earlier reviews all serviced pitches.
The Italian restaurant on site was really good although a little on the expensive side.
Toilet and showers OK although not up to CC club standards of cleanliness. No mop and bucket to mop shower after use.
Launderette Ok but didn't like the idea of washers that dispensed their own powder and you were unable to add your own or any fabric softener and the tumble driers were a joke. No laundry baskets in laundry to transfer washing from washer to drier.
Dog exercise field not all dog owners believed in picking up the mess.
The walk through the woodland to the river was very enjoyable.

Excellent site, although we did go in April so not busy.
Friendly staff, great facilities, fantastic value for money.
Even the bar and shop were reasonably priced. Disco and singing group even in low season and children allowed in. 1st year campers and unfortunately this was one of the 1st sites we ever went to (as it was only 6 miles away) and one which we now use as a standard for all sites. Will try again in peak time and see how it stands up.

We had just bought our motorhome and decided as it was November we would try it at a well-established site with all facilities. Glad we did, the toilets were not only clean but warm, pitch good and reasonably close to the 'action' (pub and swimming pool - indoor of course!) staff very friendly and most helpful to us 'newy's' will definitely go again

Excellent site. It makes me think the owners have been to Centre Parcs and based their standards by it. Great for young children, pitches large and private, excellent location for discovering the new forest.

Stayed there recently with our caravan for a long weekend. An absolutely brilliant site. Cannot praise it highly enough. Great facilities, including swimming pool and sauna etc, very peaceful and relaxing. Booked to stay again while we were there. Would highly recommend this site.

Sandy Balls is a large site, set amongst trees on the edge of the New Forest. Static vans as well as touring, some permanent residences.
Indoor and outdoor pools - also open to non-campers, so make sure you get your membership cards, else it will cost you! Good children's play areas, and one central adventure playground.
Eating and drinking facilities, plus shop on site, and entertainment (disco) in the evening.
Pitches are mostly on concrete or concrete/gravel, but they will try to give you your preferred surface, so make sure you ask. Site is segregated into dog and no-dog areas, so you should be ok whether you love 'em or hate 'em.
Most pitches are separated by hedges, though it does vary in different parts of the site.
Toilet blocks with all facilities (inc free showers) are well maintained, but some pitches are not too near the nearest facilities.
