Trentfield Farm over the last few years has taken all reviews and comments very seriously, both on this site and others. Since 2004 we have strived to continually improve the site.

1) The much needed Eco Friendly New heated toilet block. We hope to add more showers in 2007.
2) A purpose built Wash Room, including FREE freezer for cold blocks.
3) An arrival and Reception Area.
4) Comprehensive information on arrival
5) Continually adding more hedging and trees, and adjacent water points.
6) Strict guidance to guests on site behaviour
7) 24 Hour staff attendance
8) The local pub (5 minute walk) is now doing food which is excellent

The web site will also be updated for the 2007 season with new Tariff and photos etc.

Had a super weekend camping at Trentfield Farm whilst visiting Waddington Air Show, Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest for a long weekend.

The caravans and tents were split between 2 fields, both with nearby water to pitches, up to date 16amp hook ups points were on both fields. The amenities block was centrally located and adjacent to the office. Each toilet had 3 toilets and 3 showers. These were immaculate! Italian tiled floors and walls on a campsite, incredible. In addition there are 2 washing machines, tumble drier, iron etc for those wanting to wash clothes in a well equipped laundry room. (Book swap / 24 Hr Vending Shop with Eggs bread milk etc.)

The kitchen has about 7 sinks all provided with bowls. The cleanliness extends to every part of the site, not a drop of litter anywhere. Even the Elsan point has flowers round it.

The wardens were extremely polite and very helpful, and every customer gets a really useful booklet with what's in the area, (including walks, visits etc.) as well as where supermarkets, doctors, vets etc. are.

Some people have commented on the nearby power station, however, you only notice it once and it did not make any noise whist we stayed. The site's very family orientated and had everyone quiet by about 11.15pm. (The wardens had a wander round to ensure everyone's behaving!)

The pub which is about an 8 minute walk was really nice, again, with friendly people and did food for the evenings that we visited. This is a lovely walk along the banks of the River Trent (which has free fishing if you stay on the site). The village has its own brewery and is about a half hour walk away, we did a brewery tour on our last day which was a bit poor to be honest, and cost £7.50 each. The pub near the campsite sells ales from the brewery too at a very reasonable cost.

We could have spent a week here really, its close to Gainsborough, Newark, Lincoln and the market town of Retford, as well as everything around Sherwood. Around the site are miles of tracks and single track roads (level) for cycling and 3 golf courses near by too. Will no doubt be back. Great site - 8 out of 10.

I'm a regular to Trentfield for Camping and feel some overdue feedback is due!

There's a huge amount of work been done on the site since last year and it keeps getting better and better. The toilets have all been refurbished and its more like a hotel with wet rooms/ showers, lots of mirrors, and the ladies was toasty warm. There are extra showers in the ladies and I understand the same in the gents. They are cleaned regularly and are immaculate, the family shower units are a great idea.

The wardens are great and cannot do too much to help and our welcome is always friendly. There is plenty of washing up with 7 sinks, as well as a pay laundry with washing and drying, and a 24 hour vending shop with drinks / bacon / milk etc. The freezer for ice packs is a good idea and free.

Trentfield Farm is great for Sherwood Forest, Go-Ape, Clumber park without forgetting Lincoln and more local attractions like Sundown Adventureland which is great for the kids. We camp at the site at the moment but hope to come back with a caravan for Waddington air show.

Church Laneham's really nice with lots of riverside walks and great for nature etc.

Trentfield Farms got a great team, hope the good work continues.

WOW, Just come back from our Summer Holidays at Trentfield Farm, and had a fantastic time.

Where do I start? Location. It could not be better, ideal for visiting Lincoln, Nottingham (although a bit further), Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park and the 2 local towns Newark and Retford both of which have supermarkets etc. Its 5 minutes drive to Sundown Adventureland which is ideal for under 10’s. Clumber Park is about 15 minutes away. Ideal for cycling and walks through the woods.

The site itself is well facilitated with toilets & showers, however, the 2 best bits for us was the family shower rooms, (2 showers and changing area which can be locked), the vending shop which is open 24 hours! This has bread, milk, butter, bacon & BBQ stuff and there is a new washing up room with 7 sinks, the laundry has also been updated with 2 pay washing machines and a tumble drier.

We were in the Rally field which is level, free draining (we had a huge downpour), and has some new electric hook up points, fishing on the River Trent was free and 1 minute walk away. As the web site says do come if you want nature, piece and quiet, and don’t come if you expect a swimming pool and all the trimmings. Other good bits are that there is an area for playing ball games, flying kites etc without affecting anyone else.

On arrival we were given a booklet worthy of a 5* hotel telling us everything from the recycling policy, wildlife walks from the site and even the local dentists phone number, nothing seems to be missed! The Ferry Boat inn pub is 5 minutes walk away where the staff were friendly, but the foods very basic, however, the Eyre arms in the next village was outstanding.

We felt it was a modern site, with really friendly staff, that’s good value, with toilets cleaned every few hours, with good old fashioned campsite values, and would without doubt recommend a holiday here. The web site was informative and not “over sold”, and it did exactly what it said on the tin. 5* for us and we have already rebooked.

Lovely site, location is 1st class. The reception you receive is just like a good friend would greet you. The information pack you are provided with would be the envy of any tourist board. The staff at Trentfield appear to genuinely care that you enjoy your stay. The walks around the site are lovely, and the river is a pleasure. The power station is not an issue at all, rather have that than batteries and candles.

Didn't try the pub as we met new friends whilst staying at Trentfield.

Lincoln is certainly worth a short drive, very very friendly people, better than York for this reason.

Would definitely return to Trentfield as many times as possible.

Lots of areas for the kids to play safely, without being a nuisance.

If you are looking for a 1st class site without all the hustle and bustle, then do not delay in booking.

If you are serious about enjoying the countryside and letting the kids discover being kids again, then Trentfield is a must.

The site is nice, nothing special but nice, really good toilet/shower area, the place is clean & well kept! I visited a couple of times during summer 2006 for the purpose of fishing and the claim that they have a mile of riverfront fishing is a false claim, the sections they have laid claim to are overgrown and hard to get to! And as I understand it this is not their land, but land claimed and fenced off! In any case just over the brow are many more fishing spots, that are well kept by the local angling club and served me well!

In all then site: good !

Claim of fishing: lie !

Local fishing club spots: quality.

The Simpsons in Springfield hahaha, 4 adults went in July 2005, BIG power station behind which we thought was actually quiet funny. Toilets were in the process of being done; sure they will be nice when finished. Nice area with gentle walk to the two pubs. Site is bare minimum but very friendly owners. Wouldn't go back but wouldn't tell you not to go either !

What can I say, we were there in July 2005 and find the site excellent, very clean, new shower and toilet block which were overdue, field kept very well with fishing just over bank, river shallow in places - ideal for kids paddling which kept them amused for hours! Pub serving excellent food just a pleasant 5 min walk away, staff friendly and helpful, not much to do for kids but great weather helped. Quiet & peaceful park, but if you get good weather its an excellent setting - just ignore the power plant!

Just returned from this site, and a new review is well in order. New toilet block is finished with 3 toilets, 3 sinks and 2 "drenching" showers in each and both with modern hygienic dispencers , hand/hair driers etc.

Ideal site for visiting Sherwood Forest/Pines, Go-Ape, City of Lincoln, Sundown Adventureland, Robin Hood Atttactions etc. Information pack provided is the best we have seen and very informative and better that some hotels we have stayed in!

Big Pitches, quiet and peaceful location and a well policed site without being stuffy. Friendly and helpful staff. Very nature conscious indeed, A 9/10 rating for this site.

Good value for money, and the local pub is a 5 minute walk away, who needs more. We will definitely be returning.

We have just come back from our w/e stay at Trentfield Farm site and thought that some up to date feedback was well overdue.

The owners are friendly and will help in anyway possible. Hookups great and large field well looked after. There were a number of things which we did not find endearing. The toilet and shower block is nowhere near finished and the portacabin substitute is not really good enough. One shower two toilets and a basin with cold water. (The shower was hot and powerful enough though) The food prep area and washing up area had not been used for some time and were not in a state of good repair. (I would not have prepared our food there)

Overall the site could be excellent if the owners finish the works in hand quickly. To be fair, they did say that they had been let down by their builders, but there is still someway to go before we would venture back again.

I have recently returned from a brief stay after the Jubilee weekend. Owner is friendly indeed, but it would have helped to have a sign to indicate some sort of reception area - however temporary - as it was embarrassing walking into his house to try and find help! The new toilet and shower facilities just being started would be a bonus as we didn't find the present portacabin particularly clean, with only one small sink with cold water. The washing-up area also left much to be desired, namely one sink in a hut with cold water supply only - though kettle was nearby - presumably to heat water up!

Large field, no children's play area as such. Nearby river area seems pleasant.

Site quite close to a power station which emitted a large bang twice in the night - reminiscent of Nypro explosion!

Not the best site we have visited so far, but poor weather didn't help. Perhaps when the new facilities have been built this site may have more to offer.

This review was originally published in a less flattering form, and I followed it with a response from the site owner. I have sent this version to him for comment, but he has not yet done so.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We visited last year (2002) - had problems with electrics which kept tripping out. The site was very noisy with children and dogs roaming freely until late, and there was also a rally in an adjoining field, who held several late night bashes in the barn.

Toilets indeed left a lot to be desired (I have stayed on scout camps with better facilities) and the power plant definitely spoilt the location.

However, the owners were very friendly and accommodating.

I stayed here in January with the family whilst driving from Devon to Inverness to our new home. I got the site off the Internet, but the Web-Sites a bit out of date !. Owners were very friendly indeed, 16 Amp Hook ups are modern. Toilets and showers very clean and tidy, and it looks like a new shower block is being built currently. Not a commercial site, and fantastic for the children, we will definately be coming back. Not a bad word for the site.
