Schluga rulezzzzzzz. I have been there for three years now and I find it really great.

Good for young and older people. There are lots of things to do. You can go there to relax or for an active vacation. In my experience, the weather is good there.

This review is rather old. Treat it with care.

Although it has been a few years since I last visited this campsite, I can still wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. The site is fairly large in size but this is partly due to the excellent size of the plots. We had a 5.3 meter caravan, with full awning, and still had room to park the car, sit at table and chairs in the fresh air and swing a cat!!

The wash facilities are excellent, and for a small extra fee you can have a family washroom reserved just for yourselves. There are a total of four blocks of washrooms.

If you are taking your children with you, they are well catered for. There is a games room with table tennis and pin ball for the slightly older kids, and a creche is provided at a small fee for the younger children. In the evenings there is an alcohol free disco run in the basement of one of the barns.

There is a swimming pool on site, but only 5 minutes drive down the road is a fantastic lake (Pressegger See) which is naturally heated and has an average temperature of around 22 degrees C in the summer months. The camp site have their own private beach at the lake, which has a small shingle area by the water, and a large grassy area for sunbathing and playing ball games.

We returned to this site for seven years running and although we were only there in August each year we were well remembered and even taken to meet the town mayor in the fifth year.

The local area is great for walkers in summer, and skiers in winter (with the Nassfeld ski area close by). You are also only a short drive from Italy so a day trip is a real possibility. There are daily activities organised by the campsite, ranging from white water rafting (not that much white water - good for beginners!) to feeding farm animals at the local farm.

All in all, I would say this is the best camp site that I have ever been to, and if you are down that way would suggest you stop in for a few days to experience the SandMan who comes round at 9pm every night to make sure the kids are tucked up in bed and not running round making loads of noise!

As a child I have stayed at Schluga for 16 years on the trot. My sister got married in Hermagor three years ago and stayed at the campsite for her honeymoon! We, eight of us are going this summer and are using two pitches to accommodate two caravans and a tent. I would thoroughly recommend this site and area for family stays
