Golden Square Caravan & Camping Park is set in a superb location in the south-east corner of the North York Moors National Park. From the warm and sheltered site, there are panoramic views across farm, forest and moorland towards the heart of the North York Moors. Almost hidden from nearby roads, Golden Square nestles in the quiet countryside of the Hambleton Hills, just 2½ miles from the attractive and colourful market town of Helmsley. The Park is interestingly laid out in three different levels and carefully screened by trees. Even when the site is full, there is always a feeling of freedom afforded by the layout and the striking views across the National Park. The site is particularly recommended for family holidays. We are pleased to introduce the provision of "DE-LUXE" ALL-SERVICE PITCHES. These pitches, larger than normal, are screened with shrubs and provided with Electricity; Fresh Water; Waste Water and Chemical Waste Connections; T.V.; Hard Standing; Grass Patio with Picnic Tables. (Water Connections may be Hired from the Shop.) TWO HEATED LUXURY STONE-BUILT TOILET AND SHOWER BLOCKS are fully-tiled and fitted with Hot and Cold Showers. The hand-basins are inserted in vanity units and some individual cubicles are provided. The facilities are open 24 hours a day and include Shaver Points, Hand Dryers, Hair Dryers and Facilities for the Disabled. There is also a Separate Heated Room with Bath and Baby-Changing Unit. MOTOR HOME DISPOSAL POINT, also Waste Water and Chemical Disposal Point. WASHING-UP SINKS. LAUNDERETTE with Washing Machines, Tumble and Spin Dryers. Iron. Good site, very helpful and accommodating owners (allowed us our own firework display). Went at the jubilee and they organised a barbeque and disco in their barn. Good playground with cracking rope slide. Large noisy groups (like us!) get put up in the rally field so as not to cause any disturbance, making it ideal for everyone young or old. Highly recomended.

We visited this site during August 2002. Our booking was taken over the phone and was dealt with in a very friendly and efficient manner. This approach continued when we arrived with booking-in being quick and easy, and the people on site being eager to help. Security is impressive with an entrance barrier. The pitch was on a slight slope, but this was not a problem, and the facilities were superb. The site deserved to win the Golden Toilet award! The area around the site is stuffed with things to do and see, and there is a very good information point with brochures and helpful advice. Very highly recommended.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

I contacted one of the owners (Barbara Armstrong) via email with a view to booking two pitches for two couples for the August bank holiday weekend, only to get a very rude response that they don't take young people and how old were we? After passing on the facts, I was told that we were not welcome (and I was quite relieved to find that 30 is still young). I will be giving this camp site a miss in future.

This was our first holiday we had had since we got married in 1999. We booked the caravan site for July 2004 and booked the only caravan for hire. When we arrived we had a very warm and pleasant welcome, Mr. & Mrs. Armstrong are a very nice couple. We had a fab time there: lots of things to do for our son who was 9 at the time: he was never in the caravan; he was out playing in the play area all day. We had such a good time I didn’t want to come back to Scotland where I live: I wanted to stay there and get a house somewhere in North Yorkshire, I still have the pangs for wanting to go back, but this time I want to have my own caravan, I wished I could have purchased one of the caravans if they had any for sale, I would go back there; this time it would be for 2 weeks as one week is not enough The toilets were immaculate very tidy and very clean, as for the caravan it was immaculate and before we left it we cleaned the caravan to save the staff doing it. Full marks to the staff and the site, I would recommend it to anyone to go visit and have a holiday there...xxxxx

Went to this site a couple of years ago, hubby, me and four kids in our tourer. Site is lovely and is quiet after dark so families with small kids are not disturbed. Toilets and showers are smashing!! Never in our years of caravanning have we found a toilet block as nice as this one. Play area is a kids dream and ours spent hours on there. Only coming back when one of my boys spent too long on a spinny round thing getting too dizzy and then spent an hour with his head in a bucket!! Only gripe I have is where we were put...on in a banking, it would have be ok, but there was a small ridge to get up and over onto the pitch and as we pushed the caravan it bounced back off the ridge and very nearly pushed us and it over and down the edge of the banking, I don't think the people in the caravan that we would have landed on would have been too happy! But thanks to some very strapping dutch men, we were able to get it over the ridge. But other than that a good time was had by all!

Been to this site on many occasions and the facilities are first class. I cannot believe that Barbara would be rude to anyone, she is a very nice lady, very helpful and accommodating, nothing seems too much trouble for her, or for the rest of the staff also. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area; loads for the children to do, even a games room in the barn for them when the weather turns nasty. Superb parks for them to play in, one for the older age group and another for the younger age group. Excellent toilet facilities and a well stocked shop. Never had anything but a great time when we have visited this site.

We visited this site in Aug 2007 and because it was busy they put us in the rally field, which is before the barrier so we didn’t even feel we were on the site itself. We were told it was good for cycling but they couldn’t tell us where to go. We ended up on a road that was busier than the M1 on our bikes with young children with no respect from the motorists there. So if you want cycling facilities don’t go here I wont be !
