Quiet site in a nice location close to Sherwood Forest. Set in orchard which is lovely and sheltered but not obscuring sun. The toilet block is fantastic and clean, with excellent free showers and piped music! Definitely award-winning! The play area is very small but my 6 year-old loved it. Security barrier is helpful. Downside is the mainline train track not far away, but did not really disturb us greatly. All in all, good base if hygiene is important to you!

The report dated July 2001 remains accurate.

When we were there this weekend it had very recently (3 weeks ago) been taken over by new people who were as friendly and helpful as they were able to be.

My only criticism of the site would be that they put vans and tents too close together. However it was excellent value for money at just £20 for a caravan with electric for the whole weekend (10am Friday until 6pm Sunday).

A smaller sized campsite conveniently placed for those visiting Lincoln* & the Sherwood Forest area (* there is a small toll of 25p to cross the bridge to Lincoln on the most direct route from this campsite).

The owners were very helpful and we found them very willing to answer our questions. They may have changed the pitches (as per comment above) as we found that our tent had plenty of room to the caravan next door (or maybe we have been unlucky at other sites?), and I didn't notice that any of the pitches were too close together. The people on the other side of the hedge from us were a group of three large tents that were very well spaced out in an enclosed kind of area. The site is well sheltered with hedges & trees.

I found the toilet block to be very clean. There were plenty of toilet cubicles, and the two shower cubicles seemed to be enough that I did not have to queue. The facilities were clean and tidy. No soap at the shower area handbasins (where you would brush your teeth etc), however there was a soap dispenser at the toilet cubicle handbasin. Male members of the family reported clean toilets as well.

As per the comment above, the showers are still free (bush-button tap) and the piped music is a nice bonus.

The owners also recommend several places to have dinner at; we took their best recommendation of the Square and Compass in Normanton on Trent. We highly recommend this: our meals were delicious. A bit pricier than we are used to (mains of around £8-12) but worth the expense.

We stayed here based on the reviews above and we were not disappointed in the slightest. We got very good value for money and we would stay here again.
