The campsite is good, but I thought they were a bit sharp with car parking: you have to pay €3 per day to put an extra car on the pitch. Otherwise, the pools are good, though the indoor one is a bit dangerous with the slides when there are a lot of people. As for the toilets, the cleaning ladies do a good job, but lots of people have no respect for cleanliness. It's shameful to see. The restaurant is good. The evening entertainment is superb, finishing around 00:30, but there's still a lot of noise afterwards, especially as I was in a tent at the end of the pool. Brilliant when you're trying to sleep. The indoor pool was closed twice due to human excrement: they ought to provide nappies at the entrance, that would be good.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We've just come back from a week at La Loubine, and are 75% disappointed by this campsite.

Very shady.

Nowhere to park our car at the pitch. And you're very close to your neighbours. Happily, ours were very nice.

Very strong smells in the mobile home (backing up in the WC?) not at all pleasant.

Shop was too small given the number of pitches.

Entertainment staff were absent or nearly so, except during one evening when the clients were generously paying for their drinks, where we started with one entertainer, then finished with 4 or 5, without them ever returning the compliment, or even saying thank you, then they left as if nothing had happened!

The welcome was rather chilly.

Nothing nearby, expect for a small children's playpark, otherwise, even for the beach you'll need the car, or have good footwear, or the money for the shuttle, or use your bike.

Positive points: very good outdoor pool, but it would be nice if they heated it a bit, as the water was very cold.

I've been here for a few days, and I was disappointed by the reception. The toilets are too high – children would need steps. The washing up sinks are like laundry sinks, not at all practical for washing up, you break your back. But not in all blocks, some are better. The outdoor pools are freezing. The children were in the indoor pool, in fact everyone was there, so it was too small. A real shame, as the outdoor pools are really good, with their slides. No respect for safety rules for the trampolines, no one said anything. No supervision. Really very disappointed. And we've still got another week here. I strongly recommend against it.

Arrived for 15 days with our caravan; average, even upsetting welcome, the entertainment is poor and shabby for a 4-star, and everything is extra. They invited us to play bingo; once we had our cards (paid for), we found ourselves a table, and hardly had we sat down when a waiter came to ask us what we wanted. At the time we didn't want anything, so he informed the barman, who came and told us that we had to consume something.

What's more, they woke us up each Saturday with the soft call of the pressure washer – noisy! The youngsters drink continuously, minors included! The sauna is occupied by young children, and also parents who think it's a giant dryer, where they dry and dress their babies.

The family DJ is pathetic. Why bother with disco evenings, when you don't even recognise the names of modern groups, but just fill the evening with techno. Happily, on the Thursday, a real DJ came to amuse us.

Toilets were dirty, the pétanque pitch was too small – three teams max, difficult when you're playing a tournament of 36 teams, and it's not lit.

The only positive point was the entertainers Fred and Coralie, and the lifeguards in the pool, which did a good job.

The night wardens stop you from sitting on the chairs at the closed restaurant, they think you'll damage them. In summary, unpleasant campsite, that should have just the one star, for the pool, and it won't see us again.

Hello,

We've just come back from a week at La Loubine. The pool is ok (slides, tunnel etc) though the water is rather cool, even though it is supposed to be heated, but the children amused themselves ok.

As for our chalet (6 person), it was not well equipped: there was no chair inside. Not helpful when you've got 5 people, and you can only just all squeeze onto the sofa. No microwave, not handy when you've got a baby. And there's always something that needs re-heating. And finally, no electric points in the bedrooms (for baby alarms).

As for entertainment, I'm sorry there were not more calm evenings (bingo, karaoke etc) as every evening, it was just disco music (one or two evenings, ok, but every evening…) until midnight or later, with a rather high volume. But, given that we were quite a distance away, we only suffered a background noise. On the other hand, I feel sorry for those who were nearby.

Not everything was negative, but I think there are some things that should be addressed at this 4* campsite.

We have been to this campsite in June for the last three years, 2008-2010. The staff were very helpful, the food in the restaurant and cafe was very good. Our children really liked the crepes. The head lifeguard was very good at his job but a little rude as he really embarrassed my husband and 3 yr old son, they were wearing loose swimming shorts. He refused them entry into the pool without a warning, and a poster outlining the rule was displayed the next day. The noise from the poolside bar became unbearable so would only advise campers who are going to join in the fun to camp near the bar as the music is very loud. Will not be going there any in high season.

Hello,

We’re just back from a fortnight at La Loubine, but it left a little to be desired. Not enough entertainment for the children. When there are discos, the room is too small, and you have to buy something to eat or drink if you want to be there. So we only spent 3 evenings there, as drinking at 5 euros a time is too expensive. The pool is super, but the indoor one, when crowded, is dangerous with its slides, especially when there are young ones learning to swim. The outside one is fine, if a little cold. The aquagym is ok, but just half an hour is not enough. So our advice: we’ll not be going back here, and good luck to those who go back there every year.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We spent two weeks at La Loubine, and we were very disappointed by this 4* site, which does not deserve it.

The NEGATIVE:

- campsite roads not tarmaced, so dust everywhere!

- Bins in the toilets not covered

- Showers variously boiling or freezing

- Toilet blocks closed at night

- Water points a long way from the pitches

- Night watchman who uses his job to chat up girls, and who allows himself a little snooze around 4am in the toilets, and he’s not discreet, as he snores!

- No respect for quiet after 11pm

- Basic and repetitive entertainment

- No barbecue spot, everyone does what they want

- Rather unfriendly welcome, and they recommended us to the Luna Park, which has not existed for 2 years

- Riding centre: the ranch is badly organised, horses are injured, and the staff is too young.

The POSITIVE:

+ Good pool complex

+ The beach at Sauveterre is nice, with lifeguards

+ Camping pitches are shaded

+ Lots of cycle routes

I don’t recommend this site for a family with children.

I've been here two years on the trot, and this third year I'll be in a mobile home.

Reception is very welcoming.

Pitch gave us no problems.

The toilets are dirty, but no worse.

Playground is adequate for the children.

As for the pool, it is good, or even excellent, especially the aquagym.

Plenty of entertainment, so you won't get bored.

We bought our food at the local Leclerc.

This campsite is good, or even excellent.

We have just returned from 2 weeks in France, the first 10 days spent at this campsite. We went as a family 2 Adults 2 children 17 and 14, must say this site was not for us, the space between other mobiles/tents is very limited also very shaded (too many trees). We arrived on the Tuesday afternoon, in the evening the disco until after midnight, with a high volume level; nearly every morning aquagym to music at a high volume level, the only bonus was the lovely sea front at Sables D'Olonne and the town itself, we were all very pleased when we moved up to Brittany, we had the last 4 days at Chateau Des Ormes, definitely wont be returning, not one for us!

I spent the last week of August at La Loubine, and I remember my holidays fondly. I went with two friends (21 years old), in a Vacansoleil luxury tent. The activities were varied (beach volleyball, tennis, water games, football, pétanque, paintball, karting, beach day, poker, dance evenings, karaoke, etc) and the leaders were really friendly. Contrary to what Marc says, the disco makes a racket only till quarter or half past midnight at most. The word ‘racket’ is true enough, as our tent was at the far end of the site, and you could hear the start of the evening entertainment.

The pool is excellent, with its numerous slides. There are enough sunbeds that you don’t have to stand around.

As for the toilet blocks, they are cleaned every day, and are therefore clean, if only everyone has a go with the mop after showering, as clearly walking in shoes on a wet floor leaves its mark! However, I did find that the number of toilets and showers was insufficient for the number of campers. In the block closest to our tent, 6 showers, 5 toilettes.

In the small shop, you’ll find a minimum of stock, so it’s worth doing your shopping elsewhere, expect for breakfast. Overall, though, the prices are not too bad.

Overall, our stay was very good, but I would recommend it mostly to youngsters, or those who want to have fun. People looking for peace should look elsewhere.

Spent a week on this site with my husband and 4 daughters this summer in our tent and have never experienced disgusting washblocks. The toilets were filthy, didn't have loo seats and were unisex. For some strange reason most of the toilets were locked at night, long before the bar closed?! The showers were beyond a joke, barely warm and just a trickle of water. All 6 of us thought the poor toilet facilities ruined the week.

Also found the site to be quite rough, girls witnessed nastly fight between french/irish teenagers. Surrounding area not the nicest part of the Vendee by a long way.

Couldn't fault pools/slides or park, both very good but would never go back to this site as toilets were so grim.

We have stayed at this campsite in a mobile home for the last four years now and we have been very impressed by the staff ..! The facilities are brilliant and there is something for everyone to do day and night ..! At night you would never be bored there is also great things to do whether its disco ..! or just listening to a live band there is something for the young and old..!! The pool is fantastic there is so many slides and activities to do ..!! The shop is very small and basic but for some bread or drink it does the job ...! Overall we are very impressed with everything to do with this campsite and hope to be returning this year ..!!

I spent a fortnight here in a tent, and I was very disappointed. Not enough toilet facilities, and they were very dirty. Mould in the washing up sinks. For a 4-star site, this is poor.

Lots of noise at night, there are people arriving in the middle of the night, and where is the security meanwhile? Pitch was dirty and not mown.

Pool was too small, and cold.

Very disappointing site, and you can understand why they want the whole of the fees at the time of booking.

I've just returned from 4 days at La Loubine, and this site is definitely one to avoid if you have children!

I have seldom seen such filthy toilets (morning till night), so few toilets available for so many people, and a disco making a monstrous racket until 1 or 1:30 in the morning.

It's a nightmare if, like me, you like some peace, and cleanliness worthy of a 4* site.

A shame, as the surrounding area is fantastic.

Just spent 16 days at La Loubine. We had a warm welcome when we arrived and the staff were all very friendly and helpful, fantastic swimming pools, 5 slides to the outdoor pool and 3 to the indoor pool, shoes had to be taken off outside the complex, so everywhere was spotless, had a sauna and plenty of sunloungers for all, entertainment was great for all ages from morning til night, saw a great African band while there, our daughter pitched next to us with her 4 boys, and we hardly saw them, they made lots of nice friends, and have exchanged email addresses with some French, English and Dutch pals they met, great for cycling and walking, lovely beaches too, we took the satellite dish to watch a bit of the Olympics, but you cannot get a signal due to the trees, my only complaint was the toilet facilities, none in the shower blocks at all, and no hand wash basins in the toilets, there was one sink outside for use of all toilets, but no soap and drying facilities, and the toilets were for both sexes to use, no bins for used sanitary wear, so I found it disgusting that used sanitary wear was put in small open plastic bins for all to see, as children were in these toilets as well, it was not at all hygienic, you also had to take your own toilet paper with you, but I know this is the case at a lot of places in France, we used our own toilet in the motorhome after seeing this, also our family who were next to us in their tent, or went up to the club or pool toilets, apart from that everything else was great, but at today's standards the toilets should be in the gents and ladies shower blocks, showers were great.

Me and my family have been going to this campsite for the last 6 years and we are going this year again. I honestly don’t know where to start. The pool is fantastic for kids and adults, the weather is always fab. The restaurant there is gorgeous. It’s close to the beach, near to lots of great french shops. There is a bar and there is lots of entertainment there at night (when you are trying to go to sleep at your pitch there is no noise). There is a wonderful playground for kids. You’re always sure that your kids are safe there. Staff are lovely. The place is never noisy. I would highly recommend this campsite.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We just spent a very short stay at La Loubine, though we should have stayed 2 weeks. But the peace of holidaymakers is not the priority of the owner (or manager) nor of his employees.

We went as a family (2 adults and 4 children from 2 to 12).

The Saturday evening of our arrival: disco until after midnight, with a high volume level; following morning at 10am: aquagym to music at a high volume level, and activities throughout the day, accompanied by the sound and the cries of their participants; evening: loud disco again, with cries of participants. We went to ask the DJ to lower the volume a bit, so we and our children could sleep. 10 minutes of reduction. We went again to find the manager of the campsite, who kindly sent us packing, telling us that it was impossible for him to stop people enjoying themselves, and that he could not monitor every person. We pointed out to him that the rules of the campsite posted up demanded no noise, no vehicles between 10pm and 7am, and that during the day everyone should respect their neighbours, making as little noise as possible, so that everyone could enjoy their holidays. But apparently, there is no respect for these rules, even by the management!

After just 2 days spent in this hell, we went home. Yes, we left behind all our savings for the year, but compared with out well-being, this was a small price to pay.

Truly, this campsite is not built for those who want to relax after a year of work. Furthermore, the arrogance and tectlessness of the manager does not make this campsite worth 4 stars! Happily, we have been lucky enough to know other 4-star campsites, with activities day and night, that still respect their holidaymakers, even in tourist areas such as Vallon Pont d'Arc!

So, my advice, if you want to have fun day and night, without too much sleep, go here!

But, if you want to conduct your holidays how you want, joining in or not as suits you, resting peacefully on your own pitch when you want, then avoid this site!

Hello,

I've just come back from Camping la Loubine, and we had a very good holiday, ideal for the teens as for their parents. The evenings are very well organised, and the waiters are friendly. However, it's s shame that some young adults cannot take their drink. They should refuse to serve alcohol to minors, as afterwards you should not be surprised by the problems that they can cause. This campsite is recommended for holidays.

I have just returned from a 2 week holiday at La Loubine with my husband and two small children. It is the first time I have stayed at a campsite, albeit in a mobile home and I have to say that it was one of the best holidays I have had.

The children had something to do all the time which made my holiday that bit more relaxing.

The staff are warm and friendly, the campsite and homes were spotless, the site was very safe and secure and the region was fantastic!

Our mobile was quite close to the entertainment but didn't disturb us at all and everyone was very considerate when coming back in the evenings.

We are in the process of booking again for next year with a view of staying for three weeks so that we can see more of the region.

We stayed at La Loubine in 2007, and we're still wondering where their 4 stars came from.

The heated pool was not, the lighting is turned off at night, and this year it was very cold. The trampolines closed early in the evening, and opened late in the morning.

Let's not speak of the activity leaders, who were not always very friendly.

The restaurant was expensive.

The only pleasant people were at reception.

We'll not be going back. The kids and parents were bored there. Shame.

Just back from yet another holiday at La Loubine. We bought a mobile home there cos we love it so much. Personally I think the new manager is excellent - very helpful and friendly. The facilities are superb and we really enjoyed the site restaurant. Excellent food and the staff here were very friendly even when our 1 year had a hissy fit! Would thoroughly recommend this site and cannot wait until next year!

We have just returned from La Loubine and have mixed reviews. The campsite itself is great with tennis, football, volleyball and a good playground. The minigolf is very basic. The swimming pool has great slides and the kids had a ball on them but they are very very badly supervised, while this was great fun for people flying down them one after another it is was very dangerous and a few people around the campsite ended up on crutches. Also the outdoor pool was nice and cold but the indoor pool was a bit yuck. The kiddies pool outside was very small and had no slide which was very disappointing. On the plus side the pool area was very clean.

The main criticism is the entertainment I found to be very basic. The entertainment at night and the activities during the day e.g. soccer, basketball was mainly in French and no mini disco and very little for children. On the last night they had a competition for Mr & Ms La Loubine and the carry on was not suitable for children. The drink in the bar was expensive at €5 pint of Lager and while we didn't eat at the restaurant onsite the reviews from other people weren't good.

We had a great holiday but the campsite had room for improvement.

Stayed in summer of 2007 at La Loubine. Bad points - freezing pool (though I'm not sure if I expected it to be heated), pricey shop, indoor pool absolutely filthy with everyone packed in like sardines. Good points - excellent base for touring, beaches and a relaxing holiday. Nice evening strolls around the site which in general recommends itself with a good atmosphere where all felt secure.

We very much enjoyed our visit. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was lots for our teenage children to do. Restaurant food was good and we enjoyed the pool. There are lovely beaches nearby and plenty to do.

There were mosquitoes but the trees on the site make it nice and shady. It is worth being located away from the bar area as on some evenings the entertainment is lively! we had a great time and would certainly return.

It's around 5 years now that I've been returning every year! I find this campsite really super: the pools are large, there are four slides, a paddling pool for the little ones, a heated swimming pool, entertainment every evening, and a really good bar. I especially appreciate the kiosk that sells roast chicken and chips. There is a small grocery/bakers (very useful) and also a restaurant on-site (useful when, after arrival, you don't want to cook, and are too tired to go into town!) This campsite never bores me! I recommend La Loubine, which is really magnificent, and what's more, there is a large beach nearby, you can take a canoe trip on the salt marshes (really brill), horse riding and everything nearby!

This campsite is the best in ALL of France. The new owners are great and are Fine!! Best holiday ever!! Everyone there was very kind and were great, very friendly. Brilliant entertainment at night for all ages. Great for teenagers as well, and you don't get that often. Great bar for teens across the road. Recommend this place to EVERYONE!!! You have not lived till you go here!!! People with bad reviews must have went somewhere else, seriously!!!

I visited La Loubine in August 2005 with my husband and two children aged 10 and 7. We had a wonderful time and wished we could stay longer. The pool complex was great fun and open from 10am to 8pm. The indoor pool was useful one day when the weather became slightly cooler. All the campsite staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent english, but humoured us with our poor attempts at french. The shop was good enough for basic items, including a good supply of baguettes and croissants every day, but the site was within easy drive of a large hypermarket. The takeaway was basic but the restaurant was nice. The main shower block was well equipped and well kept, with some showers and loos on the outside of the building remaining open all night. The only criticism is that the noise from the evening entertainment was sometimes intrusive and sometimes went on until 1am. However, families with teenagers seemed to appreciate this much more than we did. We certainly intend to return when our children are old enough to enjoy it.

I have been to La Loubine for 3 years in a row and each year as we left I thought the holiday couldn't be beaten but it just got better! The facilities are excellent, where else would there be so much for young people to do? The playground, trampolines, mini, golf and swimming pool are all fantastic as is the football pitch where I have many happy memories!!! The entertainment at night was great and really good for English as well as French, the bar was reasonably priced and the drink was gooood! Diabalo bar was also great and we (a huge group of English and Irish teenagers) all got on really well with Philippe the owner! The beach was a 20 minute walk away and was great, shops around the area are brill, I couldn't ask for anything more! Over the past 3 years I have met some of the best mates ever; English, Irish, Dutch and French many of whom I am still in touch with! However, I think the site is better for teenagers - I first went when I was 12 and it was good but I enjoyed it much better now that I am 15!!! Finally, the security guard Eric was the most amazing guy I've ever met he is sooo cool and I knew with him around I was really safe!!! I would like to return next year but sadly my parents have booked somewhere else. Hopefully I will return one day though!

Hello,

We went to La Loubine in August 2005, and we had two very good weeks with, it's true, many mosquitos, but apart from that the teenagers has a great time, as did their parents; the bar is very cool, with very acceptable prices. We'll be back one day, and maybe, why not? buy a mobile home there.

Just had a fantastic 2 week holiday, we had no problems with the showers perfect temps. Perfect for our three children 6,8,15. Helpful and friendly staff at the pool and on reception. Going back next year.

Can get noisy at night with the entertainment mostly outside but on the whole super!

I have just spent 2 weeks in this blasted campsite with my wife and 3 children, and I can tell you, if I hadn't paid in advance for 2 weeks, I would have left after 2 days. First we were set upon by mosquitoes, the showers were either freezing or boiling, and also closed at 10pm, no water points in the rows of pitches, no distinction between sinks for dishes and for clothes (you wash your dishes next to a mother who's washing out the filthy underwear of her children), and the worst is the aggressive attitude of the owner (or manager) towards his clients. My advice, avoid this campsite. And for those who have already had a raw deal like me, send me your details, I'm not intending to leave the matter there. My email is tortle76@hotmail.com

... And these words from my daughter...

Pool too heavily chlorinated. Without the evening entertainment and the activities, this campsite would be deserted. It does not merit its 4 stars. Take away the slides and the pool, and I wouldn't even give it 2 stars.

It's now 5 years that I've been going back year after year, and every time I am impressed at the kindness of the staff. La Loubine is brilliant: the staff are very helpful, the restaurant serves good food, the bar is big, and it's good to be able to go find fresh bread in the morning without having to get the car out. This campsite offers plenty of activities: aquagym, sports hall, evenings in the bar, and what's more, they hire bikes and scooters at very reasonable prices! I heartily recommend this campsite to everybody!

I have spent 2 weeks in La Loubine. It was a great holiday. The staff were really friendly. There is lots of activities to do, I would highly recommend horse riding at La Ranch which is only a 2 min walk. The only down sides on the campsite would have to be: how small the shop is and there is a very high level of chlorine in the indoor pool. We went on 2 day trips to Plante Sauvage and Le Grand Parc de Puy de Fou, these are excellent days out for all ages. I would advise people to wait till July as the owners were only getting everything ready for the high season. I look forward to going back soon.

I spent a week at La Loubine, and I regret not having stayed longer! There is a very warm welcome, and a good atmosphere. The campsite is very well equipped, and the staff is very friendly. I'm going back this summer.

Worked on La Loubine summer 2004 as a courier, I have been on several family camping trips and can honestly say it was one of the worst maintained campsites I have ever seen. The pool area is very nice as well as the bar/shop area but the new owners are terrible. They were completely uncooperative, would not cut grass or perform any maintenance on any pitches no matter how often they were asked, Site has terrible drainage and one of the staff even unplugged a customer's electricity at one point without informing anyone! Showers are cold, and seemingly only open when the staff feel like it, No idea how this site received it's 4 star rating. Keycamp realised this site was damaging their reputation and no longer use it, I understand it used to be an excellent site but under the new owners it is terrible. I hope everyone who is thinking of staying on this site reconsiders, C'est merde!

I was very happy with this campsite, to my great surprise, as I didn't used to like this sort of holiday.

The mobile homes are magnificent and spacious, and the colours bring the sun right inside.

Around the campsite, everything is very clean.

I stayed two weeks, and would have happily stayed a third. The welcome is very warm, and loads of activities are available, mostly free: swimming pools, gym, evenings...

Being a 21-year-old student, I found the prices reasonable, which was a decisive criterion for me.

This campsite deserves its stars - friendly atmosphere guaranteed!

I've just come back from a week camping at La Loubine: I wonder how they have obtained their four stars.

Cold showers, unmarked pitches, unheated pool, nowhere to put your towel, activities on site are all at extra cost. The grass is not cut in some pitches, there is no water point, the mosquitoes devour you in 2 seconds, at night practically all the toilet facilities are closed, washing up is done in laundry sinks - a real pleasure, given the price.

Stayed at this site for 5 days. Untended grass areas, cold swimming pool, toilets locked for three of the five days, no decent laundry area, washing machines in a wooden hut with no baskets or sinks. Won't be going back.

Had four summer holidays in La Loubine the last one in 03. Great site for teenagers, local town great for eating out also found the site very safe for teenagers

The last time I stayed I was really upset leaving, the staff member arrived to check the holiday home before we left. It was like a military exercise. There was one spot on the cooker and she stood over me until it was gone. My husband and my family were horrified at the way we were treated. We were made to feel that we were dirty people. I had spent several hours cleaning to make sure this would not happen, as I had seen a family made to wash the floor four times just days before and I could not believe it. I asked why they had cleaning staff, if we were doing all the work for them and was told they always find something!

Going on this type of holiday for 25 years never was I treated so badly. So much for new owners. Has it improved? Let me know.

Myself, my parents and my best friend stayed in La Loubine twice: both times were for two weeks. We all found the site to be fantastic. The pool area is brilliant and the nightlife alike. The site is so safe, especially for teenagers and children. We found the staff very pleasant. The campsite was very clean and easy to get around, as it is not one of those huge sites. It is just a stone's throw away from the surrounding towns and villages and the beautiful beach in Les Sables d'Olonne. We left it too late to book this year and we really are devastated. La Loubine definitely deserves to keep its four stars and we certainly will be back.

My wife and I stayed at La Loubine, with Eurosites, from 4-10 May 2003. The site was clean, but the grassed areas were sparse, in that they needed a good watering and trimming. The bar was not open, nor was the shop or toilet block. However, we were given the keys to a static caravan directly behind our tent, where the water, gas and electricity were all on, and told we could have full use of the facilities in the van. The bar did open on the Bank Holiday, but as I entered, I was told they were closed, even though there were about 8 people around the bar. He made sure they were closed by locking the door after me. As it was only about 8pm, I decided to visit the "Bar Diablo" at the top of the road outside the camp. Philippe the owner could speak a little English, but EVERYBODY made us really welcome. I can only think it was French night at the camp club. The Eurosites rep (Sue) was really helpful, and we have no complaints about them. We were told in our confirmation letter that we would not be able to enter our tent until about 3pm, but we were shown in at about 12 noon. So we will return again, or maybe try further south.

La Loubine... ah! My first holiday with my best friend without parents.

The campsite had hesitated a bit before agreeing to take us, as we were two students, but that's the only thing I have against this campsite. When you reach a certain age (20) it is difficult to meet others, couples come with their kids (often very young), or else you find older people...

The pool is lovely, the welcome welcoming.. Overall, everything is great except the lack of youngsters, I'll be back this summer, so if you're young, and respect others, we'll meet this summer at La Loubine.

We arrived at the site at lunchtime to be met by about four irate families waiting for their mobile homes. We were told we couldn't enter our accommodation until 4 o'clock. O.K that is the norm, but it wasn't in their brochure or the booking form and wasn't mentioned in any correspondence we had. When we finally got to our mobile it was fine, only about 12 months old. The only gripe was the grassed area outside the vans hadn't been tended for a good while. The pool area was brilliant for the kids with four chutes and three pools. But the site's pool attendants were a complete waste of time. On one occasion a boy had split his head, when he looked for help was met by a pool attendant who was too busy chatting up a fifteen year old girl to do anything. In the end a parent took him to reception. If you have youngsters under eight, don't bother with the discos, they are aimed exclusively for teenagers. In spite of the gripes the area is full of things to do, the local beach is perfect. But the Vendee is just too unpredictable weather wise: Two years running we have had one good week, one terrible. It's the cote d'azur next year.

We've just booked 2 weeks at La Loubine in early July.

It will be the fourteenth family holiday to the site, having tried a number of French sites previously.

We gather that the site was sold last year (2002) by Gilbert who baked the bread for sale in the camp shop, mowed the grass and, generally, did everything, with the help of his son Damien.

It now appears to be part of a small group of 3 sites under "corporate" ownership....so...here's hoping!

Went in 2001. Great site. Want to go back but heard service poor and prices increased since new owners took over. If you have been in 2004 please advise, as we went last year to a dreadful site complete waste of time dirty and rude owners.

I went to La Loubine in July 2001, and I can assure you that the campsite is bliss.

In fact, I spent two weeks there, and it was an unforgettable holiday, and that's why I'm returning this summer, in August, with a group of friends.

The pool, the staff, the entertainment are all superb - really there is nothing to say against it.

I therefore recommend this campsite and I look forward to seeing you there this summer.
