Park set in woodland. Tents can be pitched in open ground or under trees if you prefer.

Clean and quiet. Good for families.

Outdoor swimming pool which the children liked.

Read a review about this campsite and decided to stay there for a weekend. The campsite is very, very clean in all aspects. Showers, toilets etc get cleaned 3 times a day and were always immaculate whenever our group used them. The kids loved the swimming pool (which we adults thought was a bit chilly). Basically, visit the web site and everything it boasts, it lives up to. We will definitely visit again this year. The best campsite we have visited!!! We give it 5 stars.

We live locally and used to visit the site most weekends during the summer months, weather permitting. We love the surroundings, and the showers etc are faultless. However it's not the peaceful surroundings we'd have hoped for. Too many young children playing ball games next to our pitch, even though there is an area provided for this. I'd say an excellent site for families but not the place to go if you just want a bit of peace and relaxation

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

I have stayed at this site and although the sites cleanliness and location cannot be faulted, I was very disappointed that dogs were allowed to roam free and allowed to mess in front of our tent, despite being against their policy and also despite our numerous comments, the staff chose to ignore the dogs, wonder if they would have ignored our children if they had screamed all night or annoyed other campers?

The campsite was very clean.

The children enjoyed the swimming pool.

Excellent facilities.

We really enjoyed our stay here and there is a strong chance we will be coming back in the next year or two.

We visited this campsite during the May half term and despite the truly awful weather we had a good time. As mentioned above, the campsite is spotlessly clean and the facilities even smell clean at all times. Due to the weather though the site was having trouble with their electricity supply as everyone was using their heaters, kettles etc and I felt very sorry for those who lost light and water when a power cut happened while they were in the showers.

There is plenty of space for children to play and the pool area is very nice. The site was not quite full (probably due to the rain) and didn't feel too busy or noisy. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the area in general and we seemed to spend a large amount of time in traffic jams trying to get around. For this reason we would probably not revisit this area, but I would recommend to anyone staying there that they visit Monkey World, it was great.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

In the last 3 years this site has really changed for the worse. It used to be a very friendly, quiet and clean place. Since the takeover it seems that campers (tents and those people who have graduated to caravans for reasons other than showing off) are getting more and more unwelcome while large and ostentatious caravans are taking priority. The drainage is absolutely disgusting and most of the woodland area is not fit for use in rainy weather. Flower displays are very pretty but the changes made here are at the expense of being allowed tent camping in view of the playground. It used to be that you could let small children play with their friends while watching from a distance and making sure they were safe. Barriers have been installed and a code needs to be entered on entry and exit; a total pain and quite pointless. The toilets are reasonably clean compared to other campsites but could be a lot better. This site was, a few years ago, very quiet in the evenings but now thanks to an influx of people who have tents but are not campers in the real sense of the word we had to put up with shouting, screaming and most of it not in English but Spanish. The welcome we received was very rude and we were told we would have to pay more for our day tent as it was taking up too much space and that our other family tent couldn't be next to ours (next as in 15 feet away and with no gas). On walking around the woodland area we found plenty of units next to each other and with day tents or gazebos. We had a word with the owner who quickly changed his tune. The next day my sister arrived and her welcome was even ruder. She ended up in tears and as we have just lost our mother and needed some time together (she lives in Bradford and I live in Bournemouth) the way she was treated was unforgiveable. The gravelled roads around the woodland are very noisy but there was no choice about where to camp as most of the woodland was a flood with some puddles being about six inches deep if not more. The swimming pool is brilliant and the reason we booked the site as the children love it. Unfortunately on this holiday certain people decided they were going to dive and jump in without regard to the children in the pool or the notices on the wall. When I politely asked them to stop they pretended not to speak English and then talked about me in Spanish. As my nephew learns Spanish at school he was able to translate a lot of this. When I went to the office after one of the girls had dived into the pool and I had just managed to pull my stepdaughter out of the way the matter was sorted out quickly but then ten minutes later it all began again. This used to be a wonderful, friendly, quiet site and it still has lots of rabbits, foxes, birds and fantastic cycling tracks but it is totally spoilt from a camping aspect. If you want to pitch in a flood and be disturbed at all times by noise from the gravel and inconsiderate people, have a rude welcome, navigate the barriers, pick up other peoples toilet paper from the floor then visit this site. We will not be camping at this site again which is quite a difficult thing to say as we only live in Bournemouth and have used this site for many weekend camps as well as holidays. As for the traffic around here all that is needed is to judge the times and it is only the because of the Swanage traffic that the area gets jammed up. This is a beautiful place to live and there are many beautiful and interesting places to visit which is why we live here and holiday here. Don't be put off the area because of the traffic in certain places but if you do want a campsite in the real sense of the word don't visit Wareham Forest. If you are one of those people who make a mess and a noise you will fit in well here.

I have been visiting this site for roughly 15 years now and I think it's still amazing as ever. We always get a very warm welcome and the people on site seem very friendly. The facilities are always clean and tidy especially the toilets. If you are looking for campsites in Wareham, I personally think that this is the best place around. I for one will be coming here for many years to come.

We stayed here for a week in October in a caravan on one of the fully serviced pitches. The pitch was fantastic and one of the best we have ever stayed on being very large easily able to accommodate our long twin axel and our 3m awning. Each of these pitches had a wooden 'pub' style table/bench and we put on our fleeces, put a few candles out and had a winter bbq in the dark - it was great. The pitches had plenty of space for a car to be parked. We did need to buy some extra long lengths of waste pipe as the drain was quite a long way back.

The facilities were immaculate and we could not fault them - in fact the cleanest loos and showers we have ever encountered. It was so refreshing to have a heated shower block and a shower that you turn on and off yourself and not one of those stupid showers that automatically turn themselves off every 60 seconds. There is a well-equipped shop and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We did experience some power cuts during the evening and were told that this was because too many people were using blow heaters which was overloading the electrics - strange as one would think the individual caravan trip switch would go first!

The woodland walks led straight into Wareham forest - a little muddy in places for the time of year but nothing a pair of wellington boots and a walker’s stick didn’t sort out. The forest was beautiful and my son and myself enjoyed mountain biking through the trails - in fact it was a mountain bikers paradise. Lots of birds and wild flowers.

A great children's play area and a fabulous wooded area for proper camping in tents which gave a real feel for 'camping in the wild' being very sheltered and natural.

The pool was closed when we visited but it did not stop my son making many new friends. The TV reception was poor so a good aerial and booster or sat dish helps.

The site is located close enough to visit Monkey World, the tank museum, Swanage steam railway, the lovely Wareham with a wonderful old-fashioned style sweetshop.

There is a large caravan and camping suppliers about 15 minutes drive away. There is also a really good pub about 5 minutes drive (turn left out of the main entrance and its along on the right).

The coded barrier is a great idea (stops people stealing your caravan so a great security feature in my opinion). Another nice factor was that traffic was nice and slow around the site and I felt that my kids were safe (unlike some places where they drive like nutters).

We will definitely be going back for the next October half term as its a really nice time of year to go, less busy, but still a few kids around to play with each other. Definitely one for taking mountain bikes. All in all a great, clean, safe family site - thumbs up!!

My family and I have just returned from a short break at the campsite (we were trying out our new caravan). We usually camp in August for about three weeks at a time summer 07 was extremely wet but we had a lucky 15 day window of good weather.

camping in April was a new experience for us - we wanted to visit Dorset in a different season-to see what we have missed!

well we can report that the campsite was as lovely as ever, beautiful birds would wake us each day (finches, tits and a woodpecker!!!)

We were also visited each day by a friendly fox. We loved it and will return in the summer.

We may be the lucky ones but we have always found the staff friendly and helpful.
