Old style caravans, club bar had poor choice of drinks, shop was pricey. That said, Croyde is beautiful, the beach is lovely, the village pubs are great, real good value food in The Thatch pub, a really peaceful break

A mixed camping, touring caravan, static caravan and lodge site.

Very close to the beach at Croyde Bay. Ideal for surfing. Campsite is clean with plenty of showers/toilets (although I usually go out of the summer holiday for the surfing).

Shops on camp include sports and surf hire, seaside goods, canteen style food, take away food, supermarket and arcade. There is an onsite club/bar but it is housed inside the main building and won't keep you awake at night.

Very close (300m) to picturesque beach at Croyde, this site offers static caravans and a large campsite. It has become a Mecca for surfers, so expect a lot of young people and quite a lot of noise at night (Music from stereos etc). If you stay in the caravans, in my experience you cannot hear any noise from the campers or the clubhouse. Good basic facilities and indoor pool for the kids.

The shop is expensive, the showers are dirty and the bar and takeaways were substandard. Croyde however is a wonderful place with a great atmosphere and a lovely balance of traditional Devon and trendy surfy stuff. Go but just don't camp at Ruda.

In a beautiful setting which is next to the beach. We stayed in a static 8 berth older type caravan which was not very clean. There was dust on the unit in the living area and something very strange looking wiped on the bedroom wall. The door handle leading to the main bedroom was hanging off on our arrival. By mid week it had come off completely. The beds were the smallest caravan beds I have ever slept in! Maybe I should have paid £700 instead of £600 to get a better caravan.

The park itself was kept nice and clean. The club is an odd shape and some of the seating out of view of the cabaret. There is a room for teenagers with karaoke and a disco, which was very good. The shop stocked most things but is quite expensive. The pool is only a fun pool and not suitable for just having a swift swim.

The best thing about the holiday was the scenery and the beautiful beach, which was packed with surfers. Stunning.

I love Ruda Holiday Camp, it's just gives me a wonderful felling when I'm there (I should know I've been going there many weekends a year since I was only 1 years old). The wicked Croyde Beach perfect for catching some waves and not very far away from another favourite surfing beach of mine, Saunton Sands Beach. Spend a night in the club and you'll forget were you are.

And Brenda Cornish well...maybe you should have paid £700 for a better caravan or next time go camping and get the real experience! (It's not like Ruda to let their customers down, it was just unfortunate that you experience Ruda like this). Ruda has become part of Park Dean Holidays as they have recently took over the park, so give it a bit of time and go again.

RUDA...I LOVE RUDA!!!

Our family have been going to RUDA at least once a year for 30 years. It was always a wonderful friendly and clean site. We have not been as impressed since Parkdean have taken over. Our caravans last year were not very clean, and there was more litter about. We hope it is not going to be spoilt.

I stayed at Ruda last year in a static caravan which was very old and not very clean. I think the standard has gone down since Parkdean took over as we have been going to Ruda for years and the caravans were always spotless. I think it is time that the older caravans were replaced as they have served their lifespan. Croyde is a beautiful place and that is why the site is always full. Cascades also needs revamping a bit as it is becoming a bit worse for wear, although my grandchildren still love it.

Ruda is expensive.

The whole of North Devon has become very expensive. You can get a budget holiday abroad for a lot less than a stay in Devon now.

The shop is over-priced and as some-one stated the Pool could do with a major refurbishment.

I know that entertainments have to be paid for but I also think that the Bar is over-priced as well.

The Thatch & Billy Budds, two local pubs, are owned by the same people. They are not cheap and the food is certainly not exceptional. I would rate it as being expensive "soup in the basket" type of meals

This may seem a bit harsh but if you compare the likes of Ruda to a foreign campsite then you will see that you are getting very poor value for money.

Everyone locally hoped that Parkdean would be an improvement but this has not proved to be the case.

The mobile homes that were to be replaced have still not gone. The Lodges are also beginning to show the ravages of time. How much longer they will stand up to the salt air is anyone's guess.

I can’t believe those people who say Ruda isn’t great!

Ruda is the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go there!

Sure it can be a little pricey but its great.

Croyde is lovely and the riding stables nearby is great!

Not to mention the fantastically clean beach and the surf (or body boarding) is the best!

So if your looking for a jam packed fun holiday then go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOH RUDA WOOOOOOOOH RUDA

*P.S They also have really cool Chuckle carts (like the one off Chucklevision!) to hire from the surf shop in Ruda so check them out they are fun!

Croyde is a really nice place and with a beach not far it’s great. We went a couple of years back with our mates it was really nice, we went back a few months ago by ourselves and it was rubbish (after it had been taken over) well it was a break and not every where can be great i guess!

Croyde, in our opinion, is simply superb. If you are touring you are detached from the main Ruda complex in The Burrows, therefore snuggled in behind the sand dunes less than 100 yards from the beach.

Here you don't really hear the club complex which isn't OTT noisy but is busy and a wee bit loud come 11pm.

Cliff walks, surf, beach, the village, the area are outstanding and if you want to have a drive out then there is Woolacombe, Lynton, Barnstaple and stacks of other villages etc etc.

We have visited this place at various times of the year throughout the past 5 or 6 years and not been disappointed, even the last week in October when the seas are wild but warmer than the air temperature.

Give it a bash you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at Ruda this weekend in the camping side. The showers and toilets were modern and clean - as with every campsite, they could do with twice as many of each! The club is noisy inside but you can't hear anything from outside. The beach is a two minute walk away - fantastic. Can't wait to go back to Ruda later in the season.

We have been to Ruda dozens of times; we have stayed in the caravans, the house and cottage and the lodges.

The location is impressive!

Nearby Saunton Sands is stunning and Croyde beach on your doorstep is beautiful too.

The club is the usual type of entertainment and caters for most tastes and shop is priced just the same as any on a campsite.

Cascades has long queues in poor weather but is fun for the kids - not serious swimmers.

The Fish and chip shop is good value and food is nice.

Staff have been there years and do their best to help.

The lodges are my fav. place to stay; who wouldn’t want to be in the dunes a stone's throw from the beach.

Ok, so it’s owned by a large company now, things change, but the beautiful area makes up for that!!
