Attractive site opposite Cotswolds Wildlife Park
Located about 20 miles west of Oxford on the A40 simply follow the brown signs for the Cotswolds Wildlife Park - the campsite entrance is directly opposite.
Site is run by the Caravan Club, but accepts non-members.
General: The site is well laid out and landscaped. Initially slightly confusing one way system including roundabouts! The site is excellent and well maintained.
A single large block houses all toilet facilities. Six cubicles.
Five good sized showers which worked well and had adequate pegs. Eight private washing cubicles.
Washing up: Three household sized sinks outdoors under cover. Piping hot water.
On site facilities: Caravan Club reception including small shop.
Walks For us this was the only problem with the site. The nearest sizeable village is Burford about 2 miles along the A361, which is busy and has no adequate footpath. We walked instead to Hollwell along the road from the campsite. This proved to be surprisingly busy too considering Hollwell consisted only of a church and 18 houses.

This is a 10 acre site with many pitches though not overcrowded. We were there over a Bank Holiday week-end therefore the site was full but this did not interfere with our enjoyment so much so that we have already booked for the August Bank holiday. The shop is small but very useful. You can buy all that you would want in Carterton (4 miles). Although RAF Brize Norton is close by there is little aircraft noise. The entrance to the Cotswold Wild Life Park is bang opposite the site entrance and at busy weekends this can create long traffic queues. I know of no other site where the only noise to be heard in the night is the roar of a lion and the chatter of baboons.
The Warden staff were as always brilliant and always cheerful.
A highly recommended safe site.

A quiet well spaced out site with grass and hard standing pitches.
Wardens were friendly and were very helpful when our car needed a part.
The toilet blocks were very clean but could get busy during peak times.
The site had a small playground and the bonus of electric barrier system was that it was safe for the children to play out.
Carterton is the best place for all provisions as Burford although pretty does not have a food shop in sight (unless you count shortbread and Oxfordshire fudge!)
If you stay at this site may I recommend the pub at Shilton. It has excellent food and a lovely relaxed feel.

Excellent site for location and layout although there are only 4 shower units in both Male & Female blocks.
Good site for a relaxing break but agree with other people there is not a lot to do or see in area, unless you are prepared to travel out a bit say 25mile radius.
Still really enjoyed our visit and would use this site again probably as a stop over on a journey south (I live in NE so it is about a 5 hour drive to site for me) and would leave around 2-3 hours next day to get to south coast or Ferry ports.

Stayed here in June 2007 and found it a very pleasant site. Didn't notice any aircraft noise. Facilities well up to standard. We would recommend the tea cakes in Huffkins in Burford. Site well located for touring around Cotswolds and also visiting Oxford. Wardens friendly and helpful
