Wicks farm is the best campsite we have been to so far. It is a small site for tents, trailer tents and motor homes (does not accept tourers) and all pitches are of level grass with electric hook-up. The facilities are very good. Showers and toilets are modern and very clean with free hot water for showers and wash basins. There is a washing-up block, and a well-appointed laundry room. The children’s play area consists of a playing field for ball games with swings and a sandpit for the little ones. It is all very safe and I was very happy to let my children play there. Also, there is a tennis court in which you can hire out for a small fee (I think it was about £5). The site has a shop that is well stocked and has a camping accessory area. You can hire a fridge for the week for £8 and a light for £1.50 a night. You can also freeze your ice-packs for 10p each. Prices are good value. It only cost us £17 a night for a trailer tent, 3 adults, 3 children and a dog. 1 unit and up to 4 persons cost £13.50 from 28th June to about early September. £1 a night for each extra person and £1 a night for electric hook-up. The beaches are only a couple of miles away and are also very clean. There are lots of nice walks nearby if you like exploring. All in all, Wicks Farm is a good holiday base, and the staff are really helpful and friendly. My family will probably visit this site for many years to come.

The campsite sounded good in Mary's review and the pictures on their own website looked good, however when the site is full, it's a slightly different story.... The square pitches are all marked out in one field, and it felt a bit claustrophobic - no hedges to break up the view of tents or to reduce the din from the (inevitable?) noisy neighbours. It appeared popular with families - there were 2 or 3 groups of tents all pitched together. As the site was full on Fri & Sat night, there was a queue to wash the breakfast dishes, but not so many queues for the showers - which did have abundant hot water. The grass is very sparse in some places on the pitches - obviously it's been a busy summer for camping at Wicks Farm. The shop did appear to be reasonably stocked for food, but it really is a veritable "Aladdin's Cave" for fittings for tents and motor homes. They offer plenty of electric hook-ups (£1/night) and will also hire you the cable if you don't have one for just 50p extra per night. They will happily re-freeze your freezer blocks for just 10p dropped into the charity box. So I'm not really "knocking" the site as it is reasonably well appointed - but I did feel that it did not provide such a pleasant stay when the camping field is full up.

We would love to write a review if only we had been able to get in ! We emailed and tried to contact the site before we went and had no response at all so we decided to bite the bullet and turn up early friday night kids tent campervan and friends in tow. NO ROOM AT THE INN!.. It was really frustrating that you cannot book unless it is for more than 4 days but the campsite was jam-packed and though the shop looked well stocked the toilets were a bit grotty we were quite glad to go! We headed off to Weymouth and had a fabulous weekend; maybe we will head back to Wicks earlier in the season next time, if at all.
