We stayed in the Trevelgue caravan park what a mistake.

The park itself is dirty and the caravans are old and rusty they look like they have seen their day a long time ago they must have been made in the 60's. After arriving we found out ours was on top of a hill which was difficult with a young baby. I had requested a cot which wasn’t there on our arrival so we had to go and get it ourselves which wasn’t any good because there was no where to put it so my baby shared the double bed with me while my husband had the single he is 6ft and his feet stuck out at the bottom. There wasn’t any heating apart from a gas fire in the front room which I didn’t want to use as it didn’t have a sticker on it to say it was safe to use none of their appliances had safety stickers which is very dangerous. The night was cold so we had to wrap up. The caravan itself was so dark and cold it was depressing we stayed one night and left the following morning. I spoke to some one else who was staying on the park he told me he had paid extra and upgraded but by what he told me his caravan wasn’t much better than ours. I would strongly wouldn’t recommend this site I certainly won’t be going there again.

The words "Mini Beirut" spring to mind! If you’re 18, and drive a souped up XR3i or Vauxhall Corsa, it’s the place to be seen. Seriously, it’s one of the only sites in Newquay to let on groups, so fair play to them, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you fit the bill. The showers are dirty, and the campsite strewn with rubbish and beer cans, but it’s to be expected. They do their best to provide a service and cater for young groups. If that’s your scene, you’ll love it, if not, I’d keep away!

When we arrived on the Friday evening I was shocked at the amount of rubbish on the site. There were piles and piles of stinking overflowing rubbish everywhere and it had blown into all the bushes etc. on the site. Thankfully this was all collected on Saturday morning but I'm glad I wasn't staying there for a week to watch all this build up again!

There is an 18-30's field on this site which has a 10 foot fence surrounding it and security on the gates. The tents in this field are all pitched inches from each other obviously to pack as many in as possible. Thankfully we weren't staying in there - we stayed in the family part of the park. The problem was that because the people in this field only had overflowing portaloos they all decided to use our shower block and toilets. The toilets and showers themselves were cleaned once a day but the floors weren't. I have never seen so much grass, hair and sand in one place! My boyfriend informed me that the ladies were luxury compared to the mens.

The actual pitch itself - if you can call it a pitch (as people seemed to be allowed to erect their tents anywhere they liked) had long grass and was unkempt. We tried the self service restaurant on Saturday morning for a full cooked breakfast which was nice apart from the fact that I was charged the same for 1 slice of toast with beans on it as I was for bacon, sausage, egg, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash brown, fried bread & toast!!!! Apparently this was because I broke from the set menu of breakfast. Also a nice touch to this restaurant was that half way through our breakfast 3 of the staff all decided to have a cigarette break - inside the restaurant standing by the till a couple of tables away from us!

Needless to say we spent as little time as possible on the site and won't be visiting their (award winning, well designed and lovingly maintained site with some of the best facilities and entertainment to be found in Cornwall at reasonable prices - so they claim on their website) ever again.

Disgusting. Ruined our holiday. We stayed in one of the chalets in Smuggler’s Haven in Trevelgue. It looked more like a toilet block from the outside. We had a nice view of the rubbish bins from our window, and as more and more rubbish bags piled up, they overflowed and we had swarms of seagulls hanging around all the time. The actual chalet was damp and horrid inside. We had to keep the windows open at all times. All our clothes were constantly damp and smelly due to the wardrobes and drawers being infested with damp mould. We had flies in all the rooms, the furniture was mostly all broken. We had a double bed plonked in the living room, which we were supposed to use as a bedroom as well as living area (and when there are 10 of you this can be quite difficult). I wrote a stinking letter of complaint when I returned home, and made numerous phone calls, but heard nothing. Will never be going there again!

I have stayed in this campsite on two separate occasions and I am returning again this year. I think it is absolutely amazing. Although the caravans and site aren't of top quality, when you’re a group of teenagers there to have fun, it's a real laugh and something to remember forever. I also know that the 18 people I went with also thought it was fantastic.

Shocking, probably get more sleep in downtown Baghdad than on this campsite. Full of drunk kids running riot throughout the night leaving trash everywhere. By the time they quietened down the seagulls started fighting over all the trash. Rather go camping in Satan's armpit than return to this sorry excuse of a campsite.

My wife and I have been returning to Trevelgue Holiday Park year after year with our 3 children, aged 2 years, 5 years and 12 years. And we are looking forward to returning for our Annual holiday in August.

We have been to many a holiday parks as Family, and we are happy that we have found one that caters for all of our needs.

I have read a few bad reviews about this park, however I would advise anybody to go and try it for themselves, as me the wife and 3 children LOVE IT!!!

We stayed at this camp last week 19th august 2006 and weren’t that pleased. The caravan was very basic; the twin bedroom stunk to high heaven, so we couldn’t use it; it was noisy at night; it doesn’t advertise that they have a part that allows single groups or we wouldn’t have gone there with a 3yr old. Rubbish strewn outside caravan. Porth itself is lovely, beaches nice, but find a better campsite.

Brilliant site for young and old and in between! Sorry if the 40 plus upset the 18 plus because of the noise but there is still a bit of life in us yet! See you next year, can't wait!!!!

Visited this holiday park in April 2007 and quite simply it was the worst park I have ever visited in Cornwall (well, in the world actually). Caravans really old, no heating and loads of drunken yobs up until 5am shouting and drinking (and drink-driving). Had to park miles away from our caravan - they do this so they can cram more caravans...we were about 4 feet from the next caravan! Avoid at all costs, really noisy site and park owners don't care!!

I am in my late 40s and my partner is slightly older. We travel for 5 hours, in a Mini, every year, to have a great time at Trevelgue. This site is perfect for those of us who want to let our hair down once in a while and who understand that you get what you pay for in this world. Trevelgue caters for groups as well as families and organise exceptional entertainment for special events such as the Riviera Run, for Mini owners and owners clubs of which I am a part. Without sites such as Trevelgue, groups of friends, young and old, would have nowhere to go. Wherever you go, there will always be a rowdy element, deal with it, they have a right to enjoy themselves too. If you want luxury, PAY FOR IT. If you want an inexpensive break, in more than adequate accommodation with excellent facilities and staff who care, then Trevelgue is the place to go. I’m going again in 4 weeks time. CAN’T WAIT.

More 18-30 than a family site. Groups of people about drinking cans of beer, morning included. Really noisy during the night we were woken up every half hour when the Newquay bus came in and the drunks got off. When we complained we were told no it wasn’t noisy as the gate to the campsite where the 18-30’s were was shut at night. They didn’t say that there were single groups in caravans too. Club was okay for families as lads went to Newquay. We won’t be going there again.

This would have been the worst holiday we had ever had if we hadn’t escaped the very next morning, fighting, swearing and all day drinking till 5am not the best place for a family, my 4 year old son and i had to sleep on the sofa as the bedroom smelt like a very sweaty person had done a marathon kept the t-shirt on for a month then squeezed it out on the beds.

The only good thing about this site is....THE EXIT....

This campsite is a disgusting hell hole. The caravans are dirty and old, they are pitched on the side of a hill and there is no parking. Stay well away, you've been warned.

Stayed at Trevelgue on the family side in July 07. Only stayed 1 night. Paid for an upgrade but frankly I refused to even sleep in that caravan. No stickers for any inspections and smelled of gas. Tried my hardest to get my money back and was met with a wall every time. Staff seemed too well rehearsed. So I advise anyone from this park to take them to court as I am now doing and if you were lucky enough like me you will have video recorded and photo'd and logged all calls made. My family and I managed the next day to get a beautiful van at a site called Holywell Bay. I'd much rather recommend that park and tell you all to stay away from Trevelgue. We even had a man gyrating at my 9 year old son. How disgusting!!

I have been camping for ten years and this was the worst site I have ever been to. The 18 / 30 site next door is right next to the family camping field it has a large fence but this does not stop them climbing over all night swearing and vandalising the toilets and showers. They carried on like this all night every night sometimes till morning. They were using people’s cars and trailers to climb the fence. When you look at the brochure it does not mention the 18/30 camp next door which they have given another name but is the same site and they share facilities.

When I asked if the pitches were level I was told they were. This is not true: the family field is sloping and at the top of a steep hill nowhere near the play area. It is also adjacent to a very busy lane which is loud all night with buses full of teenagers who bang the windows every time they pass even if it is 3 in the morning.

Oh where to start....!

My main issue with this site is that its so far removed from what you see on its web site. Our booking consisted of three families and we therefore asked for three family pitches to be together. On our arrival at the family tent area there was no room at all for our tents (2 x dome and 1 x frame tent). In fairness the staff did offer to 'send up security' to move the tents around and make room but we declined this offer on the grounds that spending the week next to a bunch of people who had been re-pitched on our say so to give us room wouldn't have made for the best start.

Night one then in a caravan for no extra charge.

Next morning and we were offered some pitches in the 10 acre overflow field. Wonderful view, a field all to ourselves, some neighbours on a slightly raised field behind us but what could go wrong.

Seems our neighbours were on day release from somewhere very regimental and this may have explained the music till the early hours, the singing and the colourful language (The children from our three families now know some very new words). Even better that this is the fact that the site offer a bus for anyone who wants to go partying in Newquay. This bus returns every half hour so just as you think you're going to get some sleep, additional vocal support comes rolling over the hill just in time, right up until the last bus at 3:30 when you're rewarded by those who could go all the way – Oh Joy..!

Despite the Porta loo's being full of vomit for the second day (There are others within a reasonable walk across a fairly busy road with a blind corner – great fun with kids), we braved another night. This one was turned sour by our neighbours vomiting and urinating into our field (Well the porta-loo's were filthy). After complaining again we were given three caravans for the remainder of our holiday.

In fairness the surroundings of this site are gorgeous, the facilities on the main site are not bad and the day times in isolation were great. In addition the staff that we spoke to were very helpful and did their best to make our stay better. Just bear in mind that all those people who can't stay on sites that state 'No groups' or 'No single sex parties' etc all end up coming here and having a whale of a time.

The web site makes no mention of the 18-30 element of the site and this will have a significant impact on your time here. Even if you don't experience the upper field, or the area over the fence that makes hurricane Katrina look mild, you will still see packs of people having a great time, experimenting with their vocabulary and its very hard to ignore this, especially if you have kids with you.

We also went to Trevelgue in august 2007- Bank holiday hell, everything that has been written above is true. The only thing we were surprised at was that the noise has been ongoing for so long, we were told that it was a problem just that weekend- what a bunch of liars the staff were for that fib!!! Needless to say we moved to a better site after no joy was to be had and lack of sleep for three days. I also have to add that i was holidaying with two teenagers of 16 and 18, they are totally disgusted with the site and wouldn't recommend it to mates. Everyone was leaving early in our vicinity- we were next to the fence for the 18-30 lot. On leaving the staff weren’t bothered, they had probably become immune to the complaints during the summer. The only response I did get was when I asked if there were any hidden cameras, when they asked why, I replied that I thought that this wasn't a holiday site but a new endurance show for Japanese telly!! So can recommend if you like endurance tests, or maybe they can use the site for "I’m a holiday maker- get me out of here!!!" Must ring Ant and Dec up then might have a chance of getting some money back.

Never stay here with children!

The "family" campsite is separated from the 18-30 site by a single fence. The language that travels over the fence every night is appalling and certainly not for children’s ears, the music thumps out from 6am to 4am the next day, there are lager cans everywhere, you get next to no sleep and to top it all, they have the cheek to come and use the family amenities so you have to queue for 45 mins for a shower.

I honestly cannot think of one good part of this holiday park, it has ruined our 2 week holiday, and many other families who were there also left early because it is impossible to live with.

DO NOT DO IT!

I visited this campsite in Oct 2007. Yes the caravans are old but they are clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Although I would never visit this campsite when the adjoining 18-30 area is open, I would definitely return.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

My daughter and myself arrived at Trevelgue Holiday Park on a Friday for a 2 night stay in a static caravan. I had paid £85 so I thought it had to be good value for money.....I was proven wrong. The caravan was very basic and old. We didn't have to get too comfortable though because after I had unpacked we were told we would need to move to another caravan as the boiler was not working. The caravan we moved to was disgusting! 'S63'. Old and dark. Door handle to the bedroom missing. Non matching bedroom doors. Tear in the ceiling and bedroom wall. My bed didn't just squeak everytime I moved - it also moved (as though the bed legs were about to collapse). Main bedroom window could not shut fully which made it very cold at night. The inspection certificate for the boiler said it was due for it's annual check June'07 (10 months ago). The boiler (right next to the main bedroom) made a constant loud humming noise the entire time. I had no sleep the first night (boiler noise, open window, squeaky and moving bed) I slept in the lounge the second night. I did complain to the receptionist, she said the caravan is for the 18-30's when the season starts. So???? The caravan is unfit, a health and safety hazard. It should not be used.
