Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.
|

| |
Have just returned from a short break which we contemplated cutting shorter. The first caravan we were allotted was dirty, with mud on carpets and up the walls - shower was rusting with bits flaking off - cooker broken and unusable - toilet seat broken - toilet window had a 1 inch gap all the way around and looked as though it may fall out at any moment - tomato sauce on walls and table - heating should have been condemned along with caravan. (wish with hind sight I had taken photos)
We have stayed in various caravan parks and are not particularly fussy, using the caravan more as a base to come back to rather than spending much time there. I do however expect clean and safe - and am sure if these caravans were checked many would not pass the health and safety regulations that must be in place.
That being said the girl on reception immediately gave us another caravan which was a vast improvement on the first but still what you would expect as standard. The receptionist did not even question my list of faults with the caravan indicating that the staff were fully aware of the state it was in.
Finally - would I return to this site again???
NOT EVEN IF YOU PAID ME!!!!

Poor overall and a warning about discrepancies in charging.
We booked via the sun holidays for 3 nights at Trevelgue from 9th Sept.
Before completing our payment we called the contact number to clarify 'summer supplement' (as applicable). No further clarification was given within the paperwork, only that payments need to be completed prior to arrival. We were advised that the first 2 weeks in September were indeed still the summer season and that we needed to pay an additional £22:00 on top of the £11:25 service charge for 3 night stay. Having paid I needed to ask another question and was connected to their automatic contact advice service which clearly stated the 'summer supplement' was for July and August only. Trying to clarify any details with the staff by telephone or at reception proved impossible. If you have any queries at all the staff are rude and confrontational in manner. Many other groups holidaying at the same time did not pay this supplement and were not required to on arrival. Their paperwork contains a bold typed disclaimer - ALL SUPPLEMENTS PAID ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. So far I have not had any response to my written requests for an explanation.

Just returned from Trevelgue holiday park with my husband and 2 young children.
We did a Sun holiday promotion but extended and upgraded our stay. Had a brill time, great location, clean spacious caravan, great facilities and lovely fresh meals in the Herbies diner. Swimming pool was huge, nice and warm and clean. It was strict families only and we witnessed a group of young lads being turned away from the indoor pool, not like one of the other reviewers on here.
Adam and his team in the Waves bar provided fab children's entertainment! Best I've seen (and we've seen a lot of campsite entertainers) I'm sure the adult shows were good too but as we have 2 young children it was back to the van after Dino said goodbye! all that dancing tired my 2 out!
I would recommend this park to anyone and we would love to go back someday!

After reading the previous reviews, we set off for our short break with apprehension, not sure what to expect. How surprised we were when we arrived. The park is well set out with a shop that is fully stocked and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and on hand to help with any enquiries. The caravan, although a little shabby, was fine for our needs. The kitchen was well equipped and clean, and the shower worked well. The children's entertainment was excellent. My granddaughters had the time of their lives every evening with Dino and his "helpers" The swimming pool was clean and well set out for both experienced swimmers and those just learning.
My granddaughters want to go back again and we will definitely be booking another holiday here. My advice to anybody considering booking a holiday here is "go for it" you will not be disappointed

I will never return to this park.
It does have some positives - the entertainment was good, camping area was well kept and it has good facilities such as playground, swimming pools, bar with pool tables and nightly entertainment.
The accommodation, however, is the worst I have ever seen in any caravan park. The caravans are very dirty, smell of smoke and wet dogs. There is dog hair everywhere and they clearly don't clean the caravans - ever!
We looked at 4 caravans the day we booked in because I was not going to stay in the first two that we were offered. They had mould growing in the bedrooms, badly stained and filthy carpets and dirty beds. The last two were newer caravans with no mould. They were also dirty but in better condition than the first two. So despite the good facilities I will not return as where I eat and sleep is more important to me.

We have been going to Trevelgue with our family for the last 28 years!
We have seen it grow over the years and enjoy all the facilities including a fantastic pool and Club.
All the staff are always very helpful and friendly and the entertainment team are a pleasure. They always make everyone very welcome.
A lot of the caravans are now brand new and very comfortable.
My family are growing up now but I look forward to taking my grandchildren to Trevelgue in future years.
Well done to all of you!
Everyone works so hard to make sure everyone enjoys their stay!

We stayed at Trevelgue Holiday Park between the 28th May and the 4th June 2010 with a lovely split screen camper van hired from O'Conners Campers, and with it being the VW & RTTS festival we were asked to park up in a field adjoining the campsite. We erected the awning for the camper van and settled down to enjoy a week in Cornwall...
All went well for the first three days, but on the 4th day, when we arrived back at the field we found that the gates to the field had been locked, and everything in the field had been removed including our awning and some of our personal belongings! Thinking that this had been done in error by Cranstar we asked to see the management to ask for some compensation (the total of the items removed being in the region of £500) but were amazed to find that the director in charge of the site simply refused to accept any liability - stating that if we did not have any hard evidence that Cranstar staff had removed the items they would not compensate us.
The discussion ended up with the same director asking us to leave his office in a very confrontational manner, leaving us to think that he, and Cranstar had very little concern as to the satisfaction of the customer.
We would strongly advise that you do not stay at Trevelgue Holiday Park!

We booked through the Sun holiday promotion as we have been on many of their holidays and have always been happy.
On arrival at the camp we were less than impressed parking was bad made worse by people trying to find their caravans.
The grass outside our van was littered with rubbish and glass.
The van stank of cigarette smoke and damp.
The toilet door was fitted with a very badly fitted lock and another on the outside complete with peep hole!
The oven grill didn’t work which made catering for a young family very difficult.
The fridge was so noisy we had to turn it off just to get some sleep.
The bedroom heater was badly rusted.
The blinds were all broken and the sofa bed sagged in the middle.
We visited the internet cafe which was empty but several of the computers were displaying error messages and the computers that were working were littered with rubbish.
The club was the worst bit of the holiday on entering we were all hit with a stench of stale beer, urine and cigarette smoke.
The club was filthy and run down not a nice place to stay at all!
We feel that we were completely misled about the park which the brochure promotes as a family park no mention of the 18/30 part of the park.
The park was full of drunken youngsters and staff would be more at home in Magaluf or Ibiza.
We left a day early because the kids begged us to.
the company needs to sort itself out family park or 18 / 30 anything goes park!
We were very very disappointed and would never holiday with them again.

I go to Trevelgue every year, I would not go anywhere else.
Yes the caravans are a bit shabby, but you don't spend much time in them other than to sleep.
I go with my 4 kids so we are classed as old yet I am amazed that the 18-30s that go are well behaved, everyone gets on with everyone.
Trevelgue always do last minute offers that is very hard to beat price wise, I would not be able to have a holiday if it wasn't for the special offers.
The beaches at Porth are the best, you never get the crowds like everywhere else.
I will always go to Trevelgue, to me it is the best place ever.

Visited this campsite in August 2009. Read the reviews just prior to going but thought we would give it the benefit of the doubt. Arrived to a smelly caravan where all windows were caked in muck from bird droppings. The inside of the caravan had sticky finger marks everywhere. The loo leaked and raw sewage was going under the caravan which the staff didn't clean up for us and we had to smell it all week. The sink was dirty and two light fitting came down, one in the middle of the night! We had young men singing at 4-5 am every night which kept us awake and the park was littered with litter and dead cigarette ends everywhere. Certainly would not recommend.

I stayed at Trevelgue Holiday Campsite with my soon to be husband and young toddler - we had read the reviews prior to our arrival but are not shallow enough to be swayed by them.
When we arrived we were greeted by a very helpful and happy reception team, only too happy to do anything for us and were a total fountain of knowledge!! Credit where credit is due as they certainly get a lot of stick from other guests.
Our caravan was older, but we loved its personality ... just think, if the walls could speak!
The entertainment was top quality - London Palladium quality if you ask us .... in particular 'Adam' who was a delight to chat with! The bar staff were also as fabulous, matching the enthusiasm of the reception team!
Overall - it is a lively site, with a mix of all ages and interests ... It's nice to see in this day and age!

I read the reviews of this campsite the night before I was due to go, and nearly didn't, which is why I am now writing this.
The campsite does look a little tired, but that is the only fault I could find. The staff were lovely, and helpful; the indoor pool was fantastic, clean and well supervised. My caravan was the best I have stayed in.
The site itself was quiet, and I witnessed no yobbish behaviour. The entertainment was great. The shop was well stocked. I would certainly go there again.

I first went to Trevelgue over 30 years ago and have always had a great time. There have been years when as many as five families have travelled down with our touring vans. The last time I went was back in 2004, and yes, once again had a great time, so in August of this year (2009) thought I'd go back with my family and my brother and his family.
The only negative thing I can say about this site is that I thought it looked a little unloved -not dirty. Caravan was fine, only two small problems which were sorted ASAP. Swimming pool is fab, with lifeguard there at all times however there is in age that children are allowed to stay on their own, as there is with all swimming pools due to health and safety reasons.
The one thing I have always loved at this site is the club, the children’s entertainment is excellent as is the adult entertainment. Bar staff and the security staff are very pleasant. This year we met the entertainments manager and his team, and would just like to say what an excellent job they do of keeping you and your children entertained, they also take the time to sit and chat with as many people as possible in between their very busy schedule.
So please, if you are thinking of holidaying at Trevelgue, don't be put off by some of the negative reviews you may have read as in my opinion, overall, the site is fine and we will be holidaying here again.

We came to stay here in august 2009, never again. Booked onto the family campsite as we wanted some peace and quiet!! ha.
There was a group of 8 of us with ages ranging from 25-33.
I have never been to such a horrid place in my life!!! If we had wanted to book onto an 18 to 30's campsite we would have done.
We pitched our tents next to the fence that separates the so called family site with the 18 to 30's and spent the next seven days with no sleep, there where drunken idiots walking among our tents every night, some saying "shall we just get in this tent", very disturbing!! and falling into our tents.
I would strongly recommend that everyone try one of the numerous campsites on offer in Newquay if you want to enjoy your holiday, I could go on more but I would be here all night!!!
The only thing i can say on a positive note is the girl serving behind the bar was very helpful and friendly.

We have just returned from our holiday at Trevelgue and believe me, never again!!!!! We have two children and took my partner’s parents for a fun family holiday. We originally booked through the sun holiday offer, but we upgraded and extended our holiday for more luxury. What a rip off!! The caravan was filthy. I sat on the settee and fell through it. None of the internal doors shut and handles had fallen off some of them (and they had just been left on the floor) - my partner fixed some of the doors himself!!!! There were 1 inch gaps around all of the bedroom window and the heater in the bedroom did not work!! The gas fire had so much dust on it, it was a hazard!! The carpet was filthy, the kitchen was filthy, need I say more. We paid about £300 for the holiday (with the brochure price being £700 for the same week and same caravan) I wouldn’t have paid £100 if I knew what it was going to be like. Most of the caravans looked in very similar conditions. I would never recommend this camp site to anybody. I will also be informing The Sun Holiday of the condition of the park too.

What a load of shit. Went with 5 families and each caravan had problems. One of my friend's caravan's carpet was soaked through due to the plumbing (water coming out of the electric socket). Staples keeping the walling together.
When we got there they provided us with a one bedroom caravan for 2 adults and 2 children, we complain and they upgrade us to a 2 bedroomed caravan. This caravan had mould growing next to each window plus the corners of each room. Our boiler was leaking and our carpet was soaking as well. We put up with this caravan due to the first one having shit across the top of the bathroom which the cleaner's didn't clean.
All in all, the caravan park needs a upgrade, paint and daytime entertainment for families with children (due to the english weather). The whole place needs to be visited by the health and safety and let’s see if it remains open due to the poor maintenance in every department.
Told the reception we wanted to talk to the management, their reply was that the management was in a meeting and would not see us. But the manager walked past us and told us to write the complaint in a letter and they will deal with us later. We know of 6 families that went home before their time due to the place being a shit hole.
Highly not recommended for any families, let the 18-30 wreck the place because it wouldn't make much difference.

Truly dreadful.
The noise from the Smugglers area goes on all night, not to mention drunken, often violent, youths staggering around relieving themselves wherever they fancy.
The caravan that we were in was dirty, cold, smelly and uncared for. Only one burner worked on the cooker and the floor covering in the twin bedroom was wet.
Don't bother to complain - the manager is severely lacking in customer service skills. He was unaware of any problems in the Smugglers area, strange considering that the police were there. He was similarly unsympathetic to damage caused to my vehicle.

Good points:-campsite was clean.nice area.refuse collections came at least twice in a week during a weeks stay.
Bad points:-was put in 1 bedroom caravan.we were 2 adults & 2 children family. the reception staff dis-organised.could'nt find us a caravan though we were already booked in. Asked for an extra duvet which we never recieved. complained about the fire door-or lack of.no windows opened far enough for any adults to escape.as it only had 1 door, the possibility of being burnt alive was excepytionally high.nothing was done about our concerns.
front door of caravan extremely stiff-also, got locked out of the caravan due to the lock having a mind of it's own.either old lock or spirits run the caravan!!
apart from these negative points enjoyed our cramped break.
Management should listen to all these concerns & complaints though.

Sorry to hear the bad reviews of this park but they're utter crap. I've been visiting this park for about 11 years in October half term. The oldest caravans are about 10 years old but very clean. There are a lot of newer ones. Entertainment good, staff very friendly. Adams is a laugh.

I have been going to Trevelgue Holiday Park for the last 4years in October half term also I have been in the summer holidays.
I have found the staff to be extremely helpful, the house keeping team put themselves out to help you and entertainment for children and adults is second to none. The entertainment manager Adam Spedding and his team do an excellent job keeping young and old entertained every night. Their enthusiasm is contagious and you won't find the variety of cabaret artistes at any other venue.
The caravans that I have stayed in have always been spotless.
They must be doing something right as the campsite was bulging at the seams this October and there wasn't an empty caravan on Trevelgue.
Every person that I spoke to was delighted with their holiday and some were booking for October 2009 before they left.
I shall be there next October.
Well done Trevelgue.

I found the entertainments manager a right idiot, rude, loud and up himself. The 2007 girls were excellent but the 2008 girls were dreadful, this has sealed the deal on me never going back again...I only went back a second year as I won it free in a raffle...NEVER AGAIN.

We have just come back from this park. It was ok; the caravan was old but it was clean and tidy. I won't recommend for families, as there was rubbish and broken glass around the park. The problem being next door to a 18-30 club which is not mentioned on their web-site. I won't stay here again.

It was with much anxiety that we arrived at Trevelgue. We had booked the holiday in March without reading any reviews as the website was very encouraging. Once the holiday was booked we stumbled across this website and were horrified to read the terrible reviews of the site. There were seven of us in total; myself, my husband, our three year old daughter, our 4 month old son, my parents and 14 year old sister. We tried to cancel the holiday because the idea of swearing youths at 3:00am didn't seem something we wanted to expose our young children to. We were unable to cancel the holiday so on the 16th August we turned up.
Checking in was swift, however we were told that the piped gas was out due to a problem with BP. We were told it should be sorted by later that afternoon and were given free food vouchers to use in the onsite canteen. We entered our caravan (the Ambassader plus) and were pleasantly surprised. It was very spacious and well equipped. There were bits of damage which would have been heartbreaking if it was my year old caravan, but overall we were pleased.
We used the canteen which was basic but satisfactory and were told by its owner that the gas would not be back on for another 2 days! We were given more vouchers.
The indoor pool was very good. Large, supervised and very clean. Our children loved it.
On one occasion the door handle to the bathroom broke and the door was locked so we went to reception to ask for help. The engineer was at the caravan ready to sort the problem before we had even returned from reception!!
On the subject of the noise...
Our pitch was situated very close to the indoor pool, the road through the park was behind our caravan (about 50 meters away) and apart from hearing people walking up the road - no later than about 11pm- we never had any trouble. From what I gather the Smugglers Haven site is right near the very top of Trevelgue, near to the touring caravan pitches and the camping pitches so if you were placed up towards that way you would have had issues with the noise. On our departure my dad overheard many other people complaining about the noise. There were always a lot of people, that we assumed were from Smugglers, around the park during the day. But they were not allowed to use the indoor pool and were limited to the outdoor pool. However, they were allowed to use the canteen/fish and chip shop which meant that it was often quite rowdy. The canteen closed at a decent time.
Overall the site was a million times better than we had expected it to be, but we put this down to our lucky location on the site. The facilities were great and our children had a lovely time. However, I doubt that we would go there again in case we weren't as lucky with our location.
Also, we went on holiday in this country for the first time after about 15 years of always going abroad because we thought it would be a cheaper, pleasant alternative to going abroad. While Cornwall is very very pretty, it also seems that everyone, everywhere is out to get as much money off you as possible. One day we spent about 15 pounds on parking alone! The best meals we had were at a McDonalds, a Pizza Hut, an Indian restaurant and a Chinese restaurant. We did find a nice hotel that did nice meals on the last day. We are definitely not junk food addicts but after days of spending small fortunes on mediocre meals we decided at least at these places we will know we can have a meal that is edible and affordable!
It ended up costing us the same amount of money for one week in this country as we normally spend in 2 in France. Not a good advert for the tourism industry in England.

I have just had the worst experience of my life. This camp should be shut down, and it should never be advertised as a family holiday camp. To turn up and find total chaos, total filth, hoards of 18/30s, two festivals, night buses that run every 5 mins through the lane at side of camp, that goes on until at least 5 am. No chance of sleep, language and behaviour that would make your hair curl, music played until 6.am, if you are lucky. If you complain you are just told it is only for the weekend, and it will all disappear, by Monday, but as we all save and look forward to our holiday, only to have it spoilt on your first day, why should families have to put up with it, you are not told of any of this when you book especially that the 18/30 camp is only a small fence between the two, every body should be able to do what they want on holiday, but to mix the two is wrong, as you have no way to prepare your self before you arrive, if like us you take teenagers 15/16 they will not be allowed to use the indoor pool unless the can prove the are staying on Trevelgue and not Smugglers Cove, the 18/30 camp, so be prepared to do battle. We also had a baby and two elderly people in our group, who also felt the same, so between us we spent £1300 on our holiday, only to have it spoilt. We went down to reception on the Sunday morning, to ask for our money back which they said yes to after a long drawn out discussion with the manager. We were told they money would go back on our cards straight away to give us a chance to go some where else, but after checking, it did not, so back we went to tell them only to be told it would take 2/3 days some times even 4, so we were then left with no option as to go to their other camp in Bude, which in contrast was what our holiday should have been, only down side outside pool, and not a lot on the camp but very helpful staff, very clean, and calm. I might seem as though I am hyping all this up but that morning I met and talked to over 50 families, that were asking for refunds as well as those that had had refunds but had nowhere so had to endure their holidays on this nightmare of a camp. So if I can stop other families from this experience I will be glad, so if you are 18/30 enjoy, but families beware.

Wish I'd read these reports before booking. If you think it's bad in half term or other holidays try staying there when a festival is happening half a mile away!
Basically everything that everyone has put here about noise, yobs, disgusting portaloos etc is true. I couldn't even stay one night, had to leave immediately. Manager mysteriously "unavailable" for 5 days thus far as I am demanding a refund.
We turned up first thing on a Friday morning to find a mud churned over crowded field full of drunken and stoned (one group openly smoking a joint in front of their tent) young people who seemed determined to make the place even filthier.
If it had been advertised as festival overflow, with portaloos and catering mainly for the worse elements of British youth, then fair enough, a warning is a warning. It was advertised as a clean campsite with excellent facilities and great staff.
I would advise you stay away unless you've watched a lot of "When yobs go wrong" or "Britain's streetfights" TV shows and thought they were documentaries about an ideal holiday destination.

Yes there are some 18-30 groups on site, but we have experienced on previous sites a lot worse. They were allowed to use the shop and reception but can't blame them for wanting to use the toilets or showers etc- lots of portaloos for them -not really fair as high fees. Camping areas didn't live up to much but we were in a caravan booked less than two weeks ago so knew wouldn't have best - extremely clean, everything available, TV/DVD player, kettle microwave and toaster, effective fire and wonderful shower what more do you want/need? The inside pool was excellent, the outside seems equally inviting but didn't venture due to weather. Reception very helpful wrong key to second door on key ring and a bulb went first night dealt with before our return. Was not looking forward once read previously reviews but site exceeded our expectations - if want 5 star go and pay 5 star prices. Well worth the money we paid. Shop on site very expensive but convenient, also take away handy and if got children playground and kids club seemed a good amenity.

If anyone doubts any of the negative comments placed on this review they really should be committed. The only positive comments have been placed by barely pubescent 18-30 patrons (should be 18-13 from the behaviour displayed) or by 'friends' of the campsite. There is not one single redeeming feature about this hell-hole that can help offset the abject, pitiful, shocking lies told on their website in regard to it being a 'family friendly site'.
I honestly believe that there will be a murder or some other serious crime committed there before the authorities take on the owners and shut the place down.
Used condoms, soiled sanitary products, vomit, urine stinking caravans, sea-gull shit, delinquent teenagers riding around with their 'windows down and the system up', overflowing refuse collection points, screaming and screeching into the early hours, foul and abusive language as a constant, scores if not hundreds of similarly dressed 18-30 twats who are 'aving it large'. Just some of the memories that you can be assured of taking with you when your time is up in this cess pit of humanity. STAY AWAY or to put it another way AVOID THIS SITE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

We have been going to this site for a few years also. Yes October is fine, and normally I would have recommended this park. But...... we also had the misfortune to arrive for our summer vacation this year at the same time as the festivals. Never again will I come to this site. The language, drunken behaviour, filth etc was awful. I also had my youngsters with me who are 18 and 21 and they are both uni students and they have never ever seen anything like it!!!! We originally started off in a caravan at the top by the road where the late night buses run - What an experience! We did get a move, part way down the hill. Still noisy but bearable. Also found there were the odd caravans with young groups in amongst the family bit. We eventually got some money back, but had to stay as my disabled parents were also with us, and we couldn't really force them to move. I will unfortunately never go there again. Trevelgue - be fair, either be completely honest on your website, or change to just families or just 18-30's!!

Arrived at the campsite on 25th July 2008 stayed 1/2 and hour. Booked a touring electric pitch on a family site. What a joke!!!! Pitches were behind the indoor swimming pool with portacabin facilities which were filthy. Main toilet block was situated up in the static caravan park and this was not much better. They also run an 18-30 club from this site and this is not mentioned on their brochure or on their internet site. This site is definitely not suitable for families with this club being run there. We were not able to use the outdoor swimming pool as this was for the 18-30. The family entertainment room was situated right next door to the nightclub! Am attempting to get a refund from Cranstar but customer services is not something they care about there as I have had no reply to my email or subsequent letter. Would not recommend this park to anyone!!!!!!

Stayed in a caravan with wife and three kids. Had a wonderful time. The caravan was spotless clean. We made use of both the free indoor and outdoor pool, which the kids loved. They also do a disco/kids entertainment in the on site club, which we again used and the kids loved. Some noise at night from the campsite but was not too bad at all. Would recommend the site- I would use it again.

Without a doubt the worst and dirtiest caravan park we have ever been to. The caravans were filthy old and smelly, the people who worked in the store and chip shop were arrogant and rude, would never ever go there again. beware families you have been warned. What a waste of money, a holiday ruined for 3 families.

I have been spending my annual summer holidays at Trevelgue holiday Park for 9 years now. We enjoy each stay.
Some of the caravans are a bit worn now but each year theres a batch of new top of the range ones.
Who cares about the caravans anyway, you only eat and sleep in there! They're clean and tidy and the housekeeper does a fantastic job with her team (Sylvia I think her name is).
My two boys love the entertainment and que up at the door every evening waiting to get in there. The entertainment is brilliant, you won't find quality entertainment anywhere else. Last years production of Cinderella was hilarious with Adam as Buttons!
Some times you can here people returning from town but we have always felt safe with the security guards and have never been kept awake till the early hours.
I feel sorry for people who say they have had a bad experience, some of the messages on here are nonsense.

Just got back, caravan was fine but the experience was not good. If you are a family stay well away, woken every night by yobs returning at 4 in the morning swearing , and shouting, we had no idea from the website it would be such a hell hole.

My daughter and myself arrived at Trevelgue Holiday Park on a Friday for a 2 night stay in a static caravan. I had paid £85 so I thought it had to be good value for money.....I was proven wrong. The caravan was very basic and old. We didn't have to get too comfortable though because after I had unpacked we were told we would need to move to another caravan as the boiler was not working. The caravan we moved to was disgusting! 'S63'. Old and dark. Door handle to the bedroom missing. Non matching bedroom doors. Tear in the ceiling and bedroom wall. My bed didn't just squeak everytime I moved - it also moved (as though the bed legs were about to collapse). Main bedroom window could not shut fully which made it very cold at night. The inspection certificate for the boiler said it was due for it's annual check June'07 (10 months ago). The boiler (right next to the main bedroom) made a constant loud humming noise the entire time. I had no sleep the first night (boiler noise, open window, squeaky and moving bed) I slept in the lounge the second night. I did complain to the receptionist, she said the caravan is for the 18-30's when the season starts. So???? The caravan is unfit, a health and safety hazard. It should not be used.

I visited this campsite in Oct 2007. Yes the caravans are old but they are clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Although I would never visit this campsite when the adjoining 18-30 area is open, I would definitely return.

Never stay here with children!
The "family" campsite is separated from the 18-30 site by a single fence. The language that travels over the fence every night is appalling and certainly not for children's ears, the music thumps out from 6am to 4am the next day, there are lager cans everywhere, you get next to no sleep and to top it all, they have the cheek to come and use the family amenities so you have to queue for 45 mins for a shower.
I honestly cannot think of one good part of this holiday park, it has ruined our 2 week holiday, and many other families who were there also left early because it is impossible to live with.
DO NOT DO IT!

Oh where to start....!
My main issue with this site is that its so far removed from what you see on its web site. Our booking consisted of three families and we therefore asked for three family pitches to be together. On our arrival at the family tent area there was no room at all for our tents (2 x dome and 1 x frame tent). In fairness the staff did offer to 'send up security' to move the tents around and make room but we declined this offer on the grounds that spending the week next to a bunch of people who had been re-pitched on our say so to give us room wouldn't have made for the best start.
Night one then in a caravan for no extra charge.
Next morning and we were offered some pitches in the 10 acre overflow field. Wonderful view, a field all to ourselves, some neighbours on a slightly raised field behind us but what could go wrong.
Seems our neighbours were on day release from somewhere very regimental and this may have explained the music till the early hours, the singing and the colourful language (The children from our three families now know some very new words). Even better that this is the fact that the site offer a bus for anyone who wants to go partying in Newquay. This bus returns every half hour so just as you think you're going to get some sleep, additional vocal support comes rolling over the hill just in time, right up until the last bus at 3:30 when you're rewarded by those who could go all the way – Oh Joy..!
Despite the Porta loo's being full of vomit for the second day (There are others within a reasonable walk across a fairly busy road with a blind corner – great fun with kids), we braved another night. This one was turned sour by our neighbours vomiting and urinating into our field (Well the porta-loo's were filthy). After complaining again we were given three caravans for the remainder of our holiday.
In fairness the surroundings of this site are gorgeous, the facilities on the main site are not bad and the day times in isolation were great. In addition the staff that we spoke to were very helpful and did their best to make our stay better. Just bear in mind that all those people who can't stay on sites that state 'No groups' or 'No single sex parties' etc all end up coming here and having a whale of a time.
The web site makes no mention of the 18-30 element of the site and this will have a significant impact on your time here. Even if you don't experience the upper field, or the area over the fence that makes hurricane Katrina look mild, you will still see packs of people having a great time, experimenting with their vocabulary and its very hard to ignore this, especially if you have kids with you.

We also went to Trevelgue in august 2007- Bank holiday hell, everything that has been written above is true. The only thing we were surprised at was that the noise has been ongoing for so long, we were told that it was a problem just that weekend- what a bunch of liars the staff were for that fib!!! Needless to say we moved to a better site after no joy was to be had and lack of sleep for three days. I also have to add that i was holidaying with two teenagers of 16 and 18, they are totally disgusted with the site and wouldn't recommend it to mates. Everyone was leaving early in our vicinity- we were next to the fence for the 18-30 lot. On leaving the staff weren't bothered, they had probably become immune to the complaints during the summer. The only response I did get was when I asked if there were any hidden cameras, when they asked why, I replied that I thought that this wasn't a holiday site but a new endurance show for Japanese telly!! So can recommend if you like endurance tests, or maybe they can use the site for "I'm a holiday maker- get me out of here!!!" Must ring Ant and Dec up then might have a chance of getting some money back.

I have been camping for ten years and this was the worst site I have ever been to. The 18 / 30 site next door is right next to the family camping field it has a large fence but this does not stop them climbing over all night swearing and vandalising the toilets and showers. They carried on like this all night every night sometimes till morning. They were using people's cars and trailers to climb the fence. When you look at the brochure it does not mention the 18/30 camp next door which they have given another name but is the same site and they share facilities.
When I asked if the pitches were level I was told they were. This is not true: the family field is sloping and at the top of a steep hill nowhere near the play area. It is also adjacent to a very busy lane which is loud all night with buses full of teenagers who bang the windows every time they pass even if it is 3 in the morning.

Stayed at Trevelgue on the family side in July 07. Only stayed 1 night. Paid for an upgrade but frankly I refused to even sleep in that caravan. No stickers for any inspections and smelled of gas. Tried my hardest to get my money back and was met with a wall every time. Staff seemed too well rehearsed. So I advise anyone from this park to take them to court as I am now doing and if you were lucky enough like me you will have video recorded and photo'd and logged all calls made. My family and I managed the next day to get a beautiful van at a site called Holywell Bay. I'd much rather recommend that park and tell you all to stay away from Trevelgue. We even had a man gyrating at my 9 year old son. How disgusting!!

This would have been the worst holiday we had ever had if we hadn't escaped the very next morning, fighting, swearing and all day drinking till 5am not the best place for a family, my 4 year old son and i had to sleep on the sofa as the bedroom smelt like a very sweaty person had done a marathon kept the t-shirt on for a month then squeezed it out on the beds.
The only good thing about this site is....THE EXIT....

More 18-30 than a family site. Groups of people about drinking cans of beer, morning included. Really noisy during the night we were woken up every half hour when the Newquay bus came in and the drunks got off. When we complained we were told no it wasn't noisy as the gate to the campsite where the 18-30's were was shut at night. They didn't say that there were single groups in caravans too. Club was okay for families as lads went to Newquay. We won't be going there again.

I am in my late 40s and my partner is slightly older. We travel for 5 hours, in a Mini, every year, to have a great time at Trevelgue. This site is perfect for those of us who want to let our hair down once in a while and who understand that you get what you pay for in this world. Trevelgue caters for groups as well as families and organise exceptional entertainment for special events such as the Riviera Run, for Mini owners and owners clubs of which I am a part. Without sites such as Trevelgue, groups of friends, young and old, would have nowhere to go. Wherever you go, there will always be a rowdy element, deal with it, they have a right to enjoy themselves too. If you want luxury, PAY FOR IT. If you want an inexpensive break, in more than adequate accommodation with excellent facilities and staff who care, then Trevelgue is the place to go. I'm going again in 4 weeks time. CAN'T WAIT.

Visited this holiday park in April 2007 and quite simply it was the worst park I have ever visited in Cornwall (well, in the world actually). Caravans really old, no heating and loads of drunken yobs up until 5am shouting and drinking (and drink-driving). Had to park miles away from our caravan - they do this so they can cram more caravans...we were about 4 feet from the next caravan! Avoid at all costs, really noisy site and park owners don't care!!

We stayed at this camp last week 19th august 2006 and weren't that pleased. The caravan was very basic; the twin bedroom stunk to high heaven, so we couldn't use it; it was noisy at night; it doesn't advertise that they have a part that allows single groups or we wouldn't have gone there with a 3yr old. Rubbish strewn outside caravan. Porth itself is lovely, beaches nice, but find a better campsite.

Shocking, probably get more sleep in downtown Baghdad than on this campsite. Full of drunk kids running riot throughout the night leaving trash everywhere. By the time they quietened down the seagulls started fighting over all the trash. Rather go camping in Satan's armpit than return to this sorry excuse of a campsite.

My wife and I have been returning to Trevelgue Holiday Park year after year with our 3 children, aged 2 years, 5 years and 12 years. And we are looking forward to returning for our Annual holiday in August.
We have been to many a holiday parks as Family, and we are happy that we have found one that caters for all of our needs.
I have read a few bad reviews about this park, however I would advise anybody to go and try it for themselves, as me the wife and 3 children LOVE IT!!!

I have stayed in this campsite on two separate occasions and I am returning again this year. I think it is absolutely amazing. Although the caravans and site aren't of top quality, when you're a group of teenagers there to have fun, it's a real laugh and something to remember forever. I also know that the 18 people I went with also thought it was fantastic.

Disgusting. Ruined our holiday. We stayed in one of the chalets in Smuggler's Haven in Trevelgue. It looked more like a toilet block from the outside. We had a nice view of the rubbish bins from our window, and as more and more rubbish bags piled up, they overflowed and we had swarms of seagulls hanging around all the time. The actual chalet was damp and horrid inside. We had to keep the windows open at all times. All our clothes were constantly damp and smelly due to the wardrobes and drawers being infested with damp mould. We had flies in all the rooms, the furniture was mostly all broken. We had a double bed plonked in the living room, which we were supposed to use as a bedroom as well as living area (and when there are 10 of you this can be quite difficult). I wrote a stinking letter of complaint when I returned home, and made numerous phone calls, but heard nothing. Will never be going there again!

When we arrived on the Friday evening I was shocked at the amount of rubbish on the site. There were piles and piles of stinking overflowing rubbish everywhere and it had blown into all the bushes etc. on the site. Thankfully this was all collected on Saturday morning but I'm glad I wasn't staying there for a week to watch all this build up again!
There is an 18-30's field on this site which has a 10 foot fence surrounding it and security on the gates. The tents in this field are all pitched inches from each other obviously to pack as many in as possible. Thankfully we weren't staying in there - we stayed in the family part of the park. The problem was that because the people in this field only had overflowing portaloos they all decided to use our shower block and toilets. The toilets and showers themselves were cleaned once a day but the floors weren't. I have never seen so much grass, hair and sand in one place! My boyfriend informed me that the ladies were luxury compared to the mens.
The actual pitch itself - if you can call it a pitch (as people seemed to be allowed to erect their tents anywhere they liked) had long grass and was unkempt. We tried the self service restaurant on Saturday morning for a full cooked breakfast which was nice apart from the fact that I was charged the same for 1 slice of toast with beans on it as I was for bacon, sausage, egg, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash brown, fried bread & toast!!!! Apparently this was because I broke from the set menu of breakfast. Also a nice touch to this restaurant was that half way through our breakfast 3 of the staff all decided to have a cigarette break - inside the restaurant standing by the till a couple of tables away from us!
Needless to say we spent as little time as possible on the site and won't be visiting their (award winning, well designed and lovingly maintained site with some of the best facilities and entertainment to be found in Cornwall at reasonable prices - so they claim on their website) ever again.

The words "Mini Beirut" spring to mind! If you're 18, and drive a souped up XR3i or Vauxhall Corsa, it's the place to be seen. Seriously, it's one of the only sites in Newquay to let on groups, so fair play to them, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you fit the bill. The showers are dirty, and the campsite strewn with rubbish and beer cans, but it's to be expected. They do their best to provide a service and cater for young groups. If that's your scene, you'll love it, if not, I'd keep away!

We were transferred to this campsite as the Bude Cranstar was being shut due to shortage of people, as a result we were told that we would have a free upgrade for our troubles... well if we upgraded I would have hated to think what we would have been staying in if we had not. The caravan we had was very old, scruffy and cold! Entertainment was ok for the kids but staff seemed lacking in energy. Changing rooms were dirty and full of flies and to have a room full of flies in November is not good. The site advertised this was their last week of opening and would be great etc but nothing was open. We will never be returning here not even in the height of summer when caravans would be livable, I would hate to think what we would catch.

We stayed in the Trevelgue caravan park what a mistake.
The park itself is dirty and the caravans are old and rusty they look like they have seen their day a long time ago they must have been made in the 60's. After arriving we found out ours was on top of a hill which was difficult with a young baby. I had requested a cot which wasn't there on our arrival so we had to go and get it ourselves which wasn't any good because there was no where to put it so my baby shared the double bed with me while my husband had the single he is 6ft and his feet stuck out at the bottom. There wasn't any heating apart from a gas fire in the front room which I didn't want to use as it didn't have a sticker on it to say it was safe to use none of their appliances had safety stickers which is very dangerous. The night was cold so we had to wrap up. The caravan itself was so dark and cold it was depressing we stayed one night and left the following morning. I spoke to some one else who was staying on the park he told me he had paid extra and upgraded but by what he told me his caravan wasn't much better than ours. I would strongly wouldn't recommend this site I certainly won't be going there again.
