Yont the Cleugh is set back from the small town of Haltwhistle (about a 5 minute drive away), in the hills to the south. It is a small and friendly site. The proprietors are Ian and Desley Whitaker, who we found to be extremely professional, considerate, helpful, and friendly. The site is very relaxed and has a nice feel to it. There is a small bar onsite which is open in the evenings. There is a playground and an area set aside for ball games. There are static caravans, and pitches for caravans, motorhomes, and tents. The tent area (which was where we stayed) was well sheltered by tall pine trees, as I believe was the rest of the site.
There are two shower cubicles for women, and two for men, in the toilet area. Although this didn't seem like a lot we never had a problem having a shower (or using the toilets for that matter), and the hot water is free. My only criticism would be that you are a bit tight for space to get changed. The toilets and showers were well kept and clean and tidy. If I remember correctly there was a hairdryer available for 20p.
There is a dishwashing area, which also has leaflets and brochures for things to visit in the area. There is only one dishwashing sink, and on our first wash we had to wait a little while for it to come free - we solved this problem by eating slightly out of kilter with everyone else and then this didn't happen again.
There is also a laundry there, but I can't comment on it as I didn't need to use it.
Tent related info: the site is on a slight incline, and because of the height of the trees the bottom end of the field can have wet grass all day (as it is in the shade). If the space is available, try to pitch on the higher ground, away from the bottom left-hand corner (if you are facing the main buildings). Having said that, we pitched our tent in that corner and although the grass was consistently wet, we had comfortable nights' sleep on our rollmats, the only problem being "wet-grass foot syndrome" going in/out of the tent, partcularly in the mornings!
We stayed here while visiting the Hadrian's Wall area and we were very happy with our choice.

Just stopped the weekend 3/4 Oct 08. Park nice and tidy, people make you very welcome, always speak and check everything is ok. Bar open nightly 8-11pm, well kept pint. At the backend of season the bar is not open on a afternoon just Sunday when everybody's going home. The only thing that lets them down is the shower/toilet block. Showers very small, no room to change, got to stand in the main toilet area, both men's and women's. No privacy. Otherwise a ok.

Has new owners, (6 months) very friendly and approachable are going to upgrade children's play park and have invited requests from all for ideas and drawings!!! Sounds really promising. Have been coming here for 15 years and would recommend it to people who are looking for an idyllic setting and peaceful surroundings, whilst at the same time being within 4 miles of both bus and train stations as well as being just 5 miles from Hadrians Wall. Loads of places to go if you have your own transport or walk 1 mile and get the local bus. Would definitely recommend this site.
