Most of the reviews are accurate. The site is incredibly disappointing. On the face of it, it's quite pretty and your first thought is how charming it is to see all the various animals wandering around, ie, chickens, peacocks etc. We booked this site several months in advance and requested a quiet spot. On arrival we were given a tiny pitch (we have a folding camper and awning!) right next to the play area. I asked for another pitch and was told 'no, we're full' by the very unhelpful receptionist. After setting up it was quite clear this was a lie as there were loads of pitches available! It's not that we are against play areas, we have kids but know from experience what happens after dusk. It was invaded by noisy teenagers playing loud music, shouting, swearing and generally being anti social whilst their lazy parents got drunk elsewhere. The 10.30 pm curfew is an absolute joke. There were TVs and stereos blaring until 3.00 - 4.00 am, then the charming cockerels start crowing at 4.30 am and don't stop all day! The 'charming' aspects of the animals soon disappear when you have to listen to them day and night, and tread carefully amongst the chicken poo throughout the site! The loos and showers are basic but reasonably clean, make sure you take plenty of 20p coins. There are not enough washing up sinks for the amount of pitches on site. I would certainly not recommend this site unless you're happy to be disturbed constantly day and night. It was very busy, so it must have some appeal to some people, probably those who would not be welcome on any camping and caravanning, or caravan club site.

Visited the site in August, bit apprehensive after reading some reviews but we had an excellent stay. The children loved this site, unlike most other sites they were allowed to play ball games and ride their bikes! The swimming pool and play area are a real bonus and the animals add a different dimension. I understand that Polly and Simon the new owners have only recently taken over and have extensive plans for improvements. We will be back.

We have been to this campsite twice before and are going again this year. We have two children (4&7) and also we take our nieces and nephew (9,11 & 14) and all of us have had two great trips at this site. Ok i can agree the pool's pH levels were slightly high on one occasion, and the showers are slightly old but they supply hot water for a decent shower (20p) and they are spacious and regularly cleaned, (its a campsite not a hotel). You can play ball games without complaints, and there is a child's play area too. The shop on site has your basics, which is all that is needed as there is a local supermarket not far away. The atmosphere has always been good when we have been there and the owners have been great to, all in all id say its a very good site and we have no complaints.

The reviews of this campsite appear to be extremely out of date and our recent visit was totally different to those previously described.
This site is brilliant for kids, there are large areas to play, a separate play area for the smaller kids and a small swimming pool which takes approx 15 people which has to be pre booked - the pool is an ideal size for that many and we had no problems booking the pool even over a bank holiday. The owner's horses are in the stables and there are chickens running freely around the site.
There are old converted farm buildings which act as showers, toilets and washing facilities. The showers are 20p which is more than enough for one adult male but as we all know the adult female may require 40/60p. The toilets are cleaned on a regular basis and while we were at the site it would have been difficult to find fault with them.
Provision wise there is a shop on site which sells the basics inc gas. If you require other goods there is a Sainsburys Local in the next village or a Morrisons Supermarket approx 3-4 miles away. On the edge of the site there is a pub which does a week day carvery for £3.50.
Our experience has shown this site to be really good, lots of space with really friendly and helpful staff.
Would we go again - of course and we have already booked for the next bank holiday.
Try it - you won't be disappointed.

I stayed with my partner & kids in May 2010 and was extremely disappointed with this site. On arrival, first impressions were good but they didn't last. The first trip to the washblock was an experience. It was like showering in someone’s outbuildings. To add insult to injury, the showers cost 20p for 3 minutes but when the water comes through barely lukewarm and you have a five year old crying because she is so cold because there is no heating either it doesn't make a great start to a weekend break. My partner went once & refused to go in again. The site also has a 10.30 p.m. "curfew". Unfortunately, the only enforcement is to lock the park. Teenagers were still shouting and running around after 11 p.m. and parents returning from the local pub at 11.30 didn't care how much noise they made. We will not be returning.
