This site is absolutely brilliant in particular for children from babies to teenagers. I've seen some of the earlier reviews about the charge for the pool, it is better to have proper life guards on which the charge contributes to and the 2E is for the whole day from 10 am until 7 pm in the high season. It provides umbrellas, chairs, sun loungers and has a drinks/ice cream pool side facility. We are on our 8th visit this Easter 2008!

Decided this year after two quite rainy summers on the Vendée to try the south of France for the first time. Quite ironic as we managed to go during the hottest and driest summer they have had in over 80 years. After having a good hunt around on the web, we found a mobile home for hire at the Camp Du Pylône on the outskirts of Antibes. As we have two young children both under eight we thought best not to risk the drive and booked a flight to Nice from Manchester, and booked car hire with Easyjet. Arrived at Nice and it was only a two minute bus ride to pick up the car. From there it was half an hour to the site. It was really easy to find you just follow the signs for Marine or Antibes Land.

First impression was good big site and well away from the Bar. (Quiet nights sleep). Only minutes from the good-sized pool. Only drawback was a €2 charge per person. The entertainment was also very good. Some good live music, (check out the band Blah Blah). The only gripe, which seems to be mentioned everywhere, was the prices at the bar. But the restaurant Auberge on the site made up for it, as the food was superb.

If you stay here the only time you really need a car is if you want to go to the supermarket for shopping. The train station is just two min from the site. It goes along the coast from St Raphael to Italy. We hardly used the car at all. Visited Monte Carlo and Nice by train. The only trips we did by car were to Grasse and to the town of Biot.

The Antibes fun fair next door is also a good evening out but make sure you pick up the half price vouchers on the site. Although the site is quite big I would definitely recommend it. The beach for me was a bit of a pain as it is all pebbles and man does it hurt your feet.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We spent our 2003 holidays at Le Pylône. What a disappointment!

Practically no-one French at the site [Note, the author is French]. Barbed wire around the pool. Indifferent lifeguards, just watching, no smiles, no politeness. Shocking prices for the pool. Toilet blocks not adapted for the handicapped. After a slight disagreement with the management, the director told me that if my husband was ill (indeed, he does have health problems) he had no right to be on a campsite, but would be better staying in a hospital (heat wave of 2003). I strongly advise against this campsite. You should also know that the staff do not speak French. The washing machines and dryers are not up to standard. Etc etc

The funfair is too close, as are the go-karts. What’s more, everyone is on top of each other.

Have been to this site for the last four years and each time have had a great time. Has a lot to offer and staff are great, and lots to do close at hand. No need to go off camp to eat, because camp restaurant is great and so is the bar. Am going again in May.

Camp du Pylône - great. Just spent 12 days there over the Christmas/New Year period. Weather sometimes frosty in the early morning, but by 10am the sun was out.

Ideal location to visit without a car as buses and trains are handy.

Found it quiet and peaceful. Only time it was noisy was once in the height of the season, and that was due to unsocial neighbours. Just everything is nearby, not too far to walk, especially in the hot sunshine.

I initially booked via searching the web for Camp du Pylône.

Will go there again at least twice this year.

We have been going down to Pylone for more years than I can remember. The big plus for us is that it is a guarded site, with no one but residents allowed in. Yes, they charge for the pool in July and August but apparently that is to control the numbers. The beach is pebbly but a short walk up towards Villeneuve Loubet will reveal sand. The restaurant is good and the pizza takeaway more than adequate. The camp shop has everything you need and everyone who mans the shop speaks English. The bar staff and reception also speak English. It is true that the toilet blocks are primitive, with a complete absence of grab handles. Totally inadequate for anyone who needs to hang onto something while they shower and they have so far not moved into catering for the disabled in any way at all. The train is close and handy, as are the buses, and the on-site entertainment is more than adequate. The information bureau next to the railway bridge at the bottom of the road is quite useful, if limited in knowledge. I have been down to Pylone once this year and going back again in September.

We have been to this camp site for two years running and are just waiting for jet2 flights to come on sale again to book for next year.

We stayed in late May and early June and found that it was hot enough for us and not too busy but apparently it does get crowded in July and August, but so do lots of places!

We have a seven year old and she had a wonderful holiday but although the entertainment is good it probably won’t be enough for her when she’s a teenager.

The pool is very big and was never overcrowded when we were there; it is very cold though!

The restaurant is very very good everything we had was wonderful and at just over £10 for a three course meal was excellent value for money. There is also a bakery on site, which makes lovely bread and cakes to die for.

The staff were always very friendly and tried hard to speak to you but its important to remember you are in France and you really should try a little french yourself.

You do not need a car as you can get everywhere by train or bus both reliable and frequent and less than five minutes walk from the campsite gates. We went to Antibes the nearest town of any size about four times during our stay. Lovely market. You can easily get up and down the coast no problem, we even went into Italy one day on the train it took about an hour.

The beach by the campsite is all pebbles, so be prepared, and it does shelve deeply. There are sandy beaches about if you really want one, Juan les Pins is nice and not too far away, also there are a few small bays at Antibes.

The camp site is still gearing up when we go and some parts looked at bit shabby but the main season for the French is July and August; having said that the shop is open and you can get everything you need there and the restaurant does takeaways which are very good. All in all we think that this site is great and very good value for money holiday.

I have say we went in the first three weeks in June 2005 and I have to say a big 10 out of 10 to all at Camp De Pylône, have already booked for the month of July 2006, but must agree the Bar was a little bit expensive, but everything else makes up for that. Can't wait till July

Since having children we have usually gone on package holidays but on a recommendation from a friend we decided to take a chance and book a caravan at Camp du Pylone.

We were so glad we did! It was the best holiday we have had for a long time. The staff were all helpful and spoke English but were always pleased (and patient) when I tried my French, even helping me to learn more.

The pool does charge €2 entrance pp in July and August but it is busy enough and it helps to keep the numbers down although there are very limited sunbeds etc. And lets face it compared to the cost of sunbeds on some of the private beaches it really isn't too bad.

The bar prices as mentioned are pricey but the food is really good value and the shop and bakery are excellent. The daily walk for fresh croissants was a pleasure!

The site is well laid out with shaded avenues and very limited traffic which made a wonderful safe environment for our 2 children (then 18months and 5) to run around and have fun with friends while we kept a watchful eye while relaxing outside our caravan.

There is no need for a car at all, trains are a few minutes walk from the site and the service is fantastic. We went out most days visiting places like Monte Carlo, Juan Les Pins(beautiful) and Antibes.

MarineLand was very much loved and we are looking forward to returning. In fact we all loved it so much that we booked to go back within a month of coming home and we have NEVER returned to a holiday resort before, always believing there is more to see in the world. This time however we felt there was still so much more to see and do, not to mention some old favourites to revisit! Roll on August 2006.

We went to this site for the first time in August 2005.

It was everything that we thought it would be and more.

They are security minded with 24/7 security men and women patrolling.

The site had plenty to offer as well, with a pool that was a little cold to start with, unless you jumped in. If you did the lifeguard would tell you off. That was great entertainment for all of the kids.

You have a bakers and a shop on site, which catered for all, even a small English section for those not willing to try French products.

All staff spoke English, but liked it when we tried our limited French.

The bar was a little pricey, but the food was excellent. As were the live bands each night.

The Pizza bar did very well with us, they were mouthwateringly tasty.

All of the attractions were close by, and the train and buses were frequent and better value than ours.

A fair Antibes Land was near, better than Thorpe park, cheaper and no queuing.

We may hire a car next time to give ourselves that little bit more freedom, You do not need to though as the site offered all the entertainment needed for a family holiday.

For a small fee we were collected from the airport by one of the caravan owners.

All in all a wonderful holiday that helped our little bundles of joy (9, 12 & 13 years) sleep soundly till the next day.

A great site.

I am in the process of booking next years.

This is a first as we never usually go away due to a tight budget.

This was value for money. 10 out of 10 for Camp Du Pylone.

We first visited the campsite in the year 2004 and it was an unforgettable experience for me so we returned in the year 2005 and are returning this summer (which I cant wait for!) the campsite was great, very clean mobile homes brilliant for a family to stay I found the staff a joy to be around they spoke fluent English and always held a smile. I as a youth found the fair "Antibesland" to be the best attraction due to the rides lights and music etc. very good indeed i could not stress a better place to go than Camp du Pylône! It has everything you need for an unforgettable holiday!!

First visited this site in 2002, found it after trying to find inexpensive accommodation for my family so that my husband and I could go to the grand prix at Monaco. Spent a fab week there and when we got home we booked for 10 days the following year and booked 3 mobile homes so that we could take friends and family - did not want to leave again - so booked 2 weeks for the following year along with all the family again!!

The site is great - providing cheap accommodation ideal for families with young kids – it is close to all amenities ie 300 mtrs to beach, bus and trains – the attractions adjacent are brilliant Antibes Land, Marineland, Aquasplash and mini golf - plus the full golf course not far away - the quaint village of Biot with it's traditional glass blowing and cobbled streets provides a taste of old France if you want it just a short distance too!

The site itself is wonderful too - the emplacements are private and shade is provided by the trees when you need it (which you often do!) the pool is large and apart from high season is not at all crowded - the shop provides everything you need and the bakery is fab - freshly baked baguettes and gorgeous cakes!!!

The bar has nightly entertainment from live bands to bingo, the restaurant provides a good variety of menu and the food is always lovely - of course you are free to eat at home, we usually have a big bbq most evenings - wine and beer being very inexpensive from the shop!!! The security on site is first class - and there is a strict policy on noise after 11pm - so no sleepless nights!!

All in all a great place providing great value for money - especially for families - we loved it so much we went again last year- 5 times, but in our own mobile home - we still hire for all the family and friends though and the list grows and grows of the people who join us each year!!!

We have visited this site 3 times now & will be booking for next year. Staff in the bar & restaurant are lovely, very friendly & willing to help you improve your French (although they all speak English). Food in the restaurant is excellent & very reasonably priced. The trains/buses are a good way to see the Cote d'Azur, we took the car 1st time, but now fly & use public transport as it is so easy & cheap 11.40 euros return to Monaco. True, the beach is pebbles & shelves steeply but Antibes is 3 mins away on the train, with sandy beaches. Only caution we have is be careful in major towns & cities...look after your bags/cash, as in any major city in the UK. Overall, this campsite offers the opportunity to stay in the south of France on a budget, but without losing the chance to experience lovely weather & fine food.

My wife and I have been coming to Camp du Pylône for over 20 years, always for the May bank holiday over to the 2nd week in June, just before it starts to get busy. We have read all the opinions of happy visitors to this site and have come to the conclusion that if you have a young family up to their early teens this campsite cannot be overlooked as great entertainment. Caravans are cheap at this time of year and prices are charged for the caravan and not per person. I couldn’t fault the clean modern accommodation that was hired to us. The staff at Auberge Restaurant look after you taking pride in their service and friendly attitude along with excellent choice of menu. The bar maybe a little expensive but bulk buying at happy-hour with beer at 2 for 1 brings the price down. The supermarket is well stocked (with same day newspapers) and the Bakery tempts you with fresh french sticks, large portions of cakes, tarts and desserts and chocolate croissants that are still warm when you eat them. The butter ones are good too. The swimming pool is well supervised by English speaking personnel. Showers and toilets near to and a small shack to get your ice creams on that hot sunny day. The pool is clean and doesn't allow balls and lilos for safety reasons due to the popularity of the pool. There's a separate paddling pool for the little ones. A charge of 2 euros is made only in July and August as it does get busy.

The near-by train service is more reliable than the buses. I recommend the train they knock spots off our system; clean, comfy and cheap. Not to mention "on time". Day and night trips are on offer. Monte-Carlo by Night is a must. The Market at Ventimeglia, Italy is a good one. You can get really cheap alcohol there...and clothes. Nice and Cannes are close by (use the train) as is Antibes with its quaint harbour steeped in history. For the Boat lovers among you, go to Monaco and spend the day round the harbour (money does float). St. Tropez and St. Maxime is well worth a visit also taking in Port Grimaud, (little Venice). The nearby beach is pebbled but you can enjoy the sand at either Antibes, Villeneuve-Loubet, Nice, Monaco and Monte-Carlo, Menton the above three and many more along the coast. All well serviced. Don't forget your bucket and spade and suncream.

Biot has a Night club close to the beach but is open more in high season. There's a fun fair, Marineland and crazy golf course close by. There are also many different restaurants dotted along the coast road towards Nice and Cannes not forgetting McDonalds at Villeneuve-Loubet. The ladies might like to shop in the different fashion and shoe shops near to the Bay of Angels not 5 minutes by bus from Biot or the market every Thursday at Antibes with its fresh food market also in the town. You could, while you're in Antibes, take the Petite Train to Juan Les Pins and walk the long beach and shops and arcades. Have lunch overlooking the sea then catch the train back and walk the harbour in Antibes taking in the fortress that oozes history. Look out for the Battle of the Flowers parade along the harbour in the middle of May, very colourful. I could go on and on about this lovely part of France but I won't as there's lots more to see and would like you to see it for yourself. The weather alone wants to lure you away from home. Yes, we could live there.

I stayed at Camp du Pylône in August 2006. I thought it was absolutely brilliant! I went with my friend and her parents. We're both sixteen and we found loads to do. My friend and her family had come to Camp du Pylône every year for the past twelve years, however this was my first time.

The campsite was huge and it took me a good three days to really know my way home from the bar, however that's not a bad thing. The weather was gorgeous and two euros did not seem much for the whole day next to the pool. This is mostly what our day consisted off, wake up, check out the weather, go to the pool.

One of the best things about Camp du Pylône is the fact that everything is so close. For the days when it wasn't pool weather there was so many other things we could do. A two-minute train ride along the beach brought us to Antibes. A magnificent place, with just as much to do as in Biot.

I could write for hours about my experience at Camp du Pylône however I wouldn't want to bore you. Anyone with kids between 14 and 18 should definitely consider Camp du Pylône. The accommodation is great, the staff is great, the beach is great, and the food... well I don’t think I can put into words how great the food is.

Excellent. Beautiful site. Very handy for buses (which are cheap) train station and beach. Everyone very friendly. Lots of privately owned caravans/chalets which has the advantage that people look after them so much more. Am hoping to go again this year but will certainly go next year if not.

Camp du Pylone I found this site from a search engine similar to this one found caravans-nice-pylone.net booked flew out there, got picked up and taken to a lovely caravan on plot one, not too far from the bar and shops, there was certainly no noise. French law apparently enforces no noise after 11p.m. Everything is so handy trains and buses nearby and very cheap. Prices are similar to home, certainly not expensive. Recommend the campsite’s own showers as we wondered why everyone was walking along with towels on investigating discovered to large blocks with high pressure water - great. Ideal for the outdoor type. Now I have found my holiday location for the next few years.

I had a super time with my family visiting camp du Pylone. I spent two weeks there the first on my own with my three boys, 11, 8 and 2. My husband joined us for the second week. I was very nervous going on my own with the boys, but it was great i felt safe the whole time. The 11 o clock curfew was great ...

it inspired me so much.. He transport was fantastic, the food fantastic no complaint.

My boys spent all day fishing at the river on site, which is beautiful.

This was the second time I’ve stayed on Camp Du Pylone the last being 20years ago as a student. The place is fantastic.

Myself my wife and son had a great time there and it definitely wont be 20 yrs before we come again. The site is clean and safe with all the amenities you need, yes the supermarket is a little over priced but saves going anywhere else and its very well stocked.

The pool is also very clean, yes there's a 2 euro charge but you can get in there from 10am till it closes about 7pm ( and we were quite often in there that long with our son ).

Overall we can't really fault the whole place.

I do have loads of pictures if people want to see.

Friendly and safe site, perfect if you want to get away for a short break/holiday on your own or with your family.

The reception/restaurant staff have up to date information on the area and are very helpful.
