The prime motivation for my group in choosing this campsite was to have better toilet and shower facilities than our previous venture. In this we were not disappointed - the toilet block lived up to the brochure picture, and unlike many sites, they were simply clean and well maintained rather than reeking of air conditioner. However, achieving our goal came at a high 'price'. The site owners struck us as the sort of people who would think running a campsite was fine if it wasn't for people who keep coming and camping on it. Various bits of advance information turned out to be rather different in reality - for example, they quote prices but add VAT when you turn up and charge a deposit for the toilet keys, which is not mentioned. The dishwashing facilities are not, as stated, under cover (as I proved by being there when the heavens opened) Dogs are stated in a number of website entries to be welcome but this appears to be untrue (and I am not talking about instances of bad handling by dog owners) It was also evident that the owners had had some bad experiences with ill-supervised children and had yet to recover. That said, the tractor provided by way of play equipment gave hours of amusement, as did the families of ducks. The fishing pond was well fenced to avoid children getting close unsupervised. It's a level, sheltered site. There's some noise from the M50 which is conveniently close by, as are some very attractive towns such as Ledbury. The tree planting and caravan storage tends to block any view of the Malvern hills themselves. The showers were hot (slightly too hot and no facility to alter that) and for 25p good value for 5 minutes. There are no washing cubicles. There was plenty of hot water at the dishwashing sinks outside. It's such a shame that the customer service was so lacking.

Nice site, good facilities, pity about the owners, children and pets are allowed on site but definitely not welcome, lots of rules that must be adhered to, woe betide anyone who should break them, no ball games allowed, just a dangerous old tractor to play on. Only stayed for 2 nights fortunately, felt very uncomfortable and worried in case children or ourselves should step out of line and break one of the many precious rules. Even some of the sited residents were as miserable as the proprietors. Could not relax and would not return to this site again and would not recommend it to people with children, even well behaved children like my own. Too many rules. If you like to have fun with your children then steer clear.

First impressions of this site was beautiful. It was well maintained and we thought we had landed on our feet. It didn't take long to find out we hadn't. We had booked 2 pitches together at the same time, and made it clear one was for a caravan and one for a tent. The other party had arrived first with a caravan and had set up. We arrived later with a tent. The owner had put them on a field where tents were not allowed. First she had got the booking wrong assuming we were two caravans. She was not prepared to admit or correct her mistake. She abruptly told us we could not join them, we asked if they could be moved to join us, she said NO. During an argument she said the other party had broken site rules. It turned out they had brought a child’s bike with them so my 5 year old daughter could learn to ride. Little did we know about all the site rules, nearly all against children having fun. My husband and brother-in-law decided to have another talk to the owners to try to get us together. They gave in when her husband realised it was his wife’s mistake and let the other party move next to us in the tent/caravan field. What a start to a 2 night break. This site is not for children,(or anyone wanting to do more than sit in a deck chair) the only amusement is a very small rusty old tractor (which didn't look particularly safe or fun). They are not allowed to ride bikes, play ball games, this includes badminton. There appears to be lots of permanent residents, one of which we nick-named Atilla the Hun. We were scared to walk past their caravan in case we broke a rule. They were not shy in voicing their opinions. The only thing this site has is clean toilets and showers and a well-kept site for you to sit quietly and admire but not to enjoy.

My husband and I have visited this site with friends and we own an American RV 36' in length and naturally checked that they could accommodate us before booking. It was indeed the very pleasant (NOT) wife of the owners that stated they could indeed accommodate us!! We have had a few problems with the site rules, "yes" children are allowed but no games at all, in fact if they could be gagged and handcuffed and released on departure then that would be appreciated!! Pretty much the same with dogs, "we" will charge you to bring your dog but on no account must you exercise your dog on site, oh and by the way we do not provide anywhere for you to do this, so take it off site and don't allow it to foul out side our site either, unless you clean up afterwards. (this not the case for all happy campers as I have seen some of the residents allowing their dogs to foul the area and leave it!!)The last straw being ourselves and fellow RV friends arriving to be told we would not be welcome again as the "WIFE" definitely lacking in customer service skills did not want big motor homes on site as she had had complaints but about what she did not know!!! jealousy springs to mind and sad folk with nothing better to do than moan about people trying to have a peaceful enjoyable break on what is a well laid out site, with a nice male half of the team trying to deal with the female half in need of some urgent training!! Well we have spent good money to stay their and had to pay more for the pleasure and will now venture to pastures new and take our friends and their money with us. If you are looking to go to a well looked after site who only like gagged children (residents visitors excepted couldn't afford to take a drop in in-come) then try it and if your dog owners then heaven forbid it barks and make sure you adhere to the rules and don't enjoy your self too much.

I have to strongly disagree with the previous reviews on this site. My husband and I have been visiting this site for about ten years now and we have no complaints about the owners, residents, or the rules on the site. Both of us are keen anglers and fish the two pools quite often. Admittedly, if you're not a fisherperson there's not much else to do, but isn't that what caravanning and camping’s all about??? Years ago when we first started 'roughing it' we used to make our own entertainment, go for walks etc.. Let's not forget that Kingsgreen is an actual working farm so let's not rely on the owners alone for amusement!! Although, there is a lot of work that goes into the fishing contest and karaoke night. All the residents chip in and help out which shows, we have got senses of humour and we do know how to enjoy ourselves, so instead of playing on the old tractor join in sometime. Who knows you just might enjoy it!!!

It's a shame the first few reviews on Kingsgreen made more of what the authors wanted rather than what’s best for caravaners in general. All the rules are made for the peace and quiet of the residents: long stay or a few day visitors. The rules also ensure the campsite is maintained to the high standard it has achieved, would you be a bit vexed if you walked dogs poo inside your caravan ? This site is in a rural setting, that’s why people choose it, well that and the fishing. Regarding children. We have just returned after a week at this site, our second visit. Due to matters beyond out control, we had to take two grandchildren (7 & 9) with us at the last moment. The site owners were not aware of this until we arrived. Yes, I know, I forgot to ring them. They were received with open arms and made to feel welcome. We made sure, as we always do, that they played around out caravan and that if they did 'wander', they were respectful of others privacy. That said, they got on like a house on fire with the 'temps' and the 'regulars'. I can only assume that the authors of some previous reviewers are those that let their children run riot. All the 'rules' are outlined in the brochure that I'm sure goes out to every enquiry, if you don't like the rules, don't go.

I have been reading other peoples comments about Kingsgreen and have to say that I have been extremely surprised by their negative comments. We have been visiting the site for the past 2 years had have always been made extremely welcome. The site is maintained to a high standard and the pitches are well cared for. The toilet and washing facilities are immaculate and the washing up sinks have a roof to keep off the rain. Our son has been with us and has been happy during his stays, having said that he is happy to spend a lot of the time fishing. The pools are well stocked and the fish are in good condition. I accept that this isn't a site for families with young children, but there are plenty of others that are happy to cater for noisy disruptive badly behave children!! We would recommend the site to our friends and will continue to visit the site.

I'm sorry to say I have to agree with the negative comments above about the Kingsgreen site. Their overly-zealous rules (and rule signs) and their poor customer service really let them down! We're just back from a weekend there (July 2007) and on arrival the wife of the proprietor was barely civil, curtly reminding us of the 'no cycling rules' (she'd spied we had bikes on the back of the car on her CCTV cameras - yes, CCTV cameras!) and telling us to pitch our tent at the far end of the camping field, despite it being totally empty except for a line of caravans. 'I want to keep you well away from my electric hook ups,' she said! Which I presume meant well away from her resident caravanners. Of course there are a few good things that arise from having a million rules (and signs, so many that there was hardly any room left for another rule sign on the toilet blocks) - the toilets were spotless and the site was very neat and tidy, but nice loos and cut grass do not a great campsite make, in my opinion. I haven't got kids but I must say I missed the sound of children playing in the air, or the sound of ANYONE having fun, for that matter, cos fun at Kingsgreen is very much not on the agenda. (In fact maybe there was a sign for this, must've missed that one.) The place is like a ghost town, both day and night. So much so that we thought there was no-one in the caravans on arrival. But of course there were - big-bellied fifty/sixtysomethings sipping cheap wine watching Corra in between peering at non-residents with beady eyes out of their super-neat awnings. The last straw for us was the treatment we got on checking out. After ringing the bell twice the crotchety old proprietor flung the door open and barked 'YES?!', then went on to tell us we were late leaving our pitch and that we should be losing our £5 shower key deposit in the tone you'd use to tell off a naughty 12 year old boy. (I'm 36, and hadn't been naughty at all.) How late, just out of interest? Just about 29 minutes by my watch, and we were the only tent in the field with no one at all waiting to take our pitch! He eventually agreed to return the deposit but then saw I was holding two unused shower tokens, which I was hoping to exchange for cash (50p). Not likely that, cos he snatched them out of my hand with a curt 'I'll keep these, shall I?' and ushered me out of the door before slamming it behind me. We'd followed all the rules at this site, kept the showers clean by mopping up afterwards, didn't ride our bikes on site, played no ball games, no loud music, had as little fun as possible (not hard), etc etc etc, but we were still treated like second class citizens. No, make that second class 12 year old citizens! I did think about giving him an earful then and there but then thought why waste it. Much better to come on here and help others make a decision about whether to go to Kingsgreen. Nice site, shame about the rules, and more of a shame about the RULERS. Get some customer service skills Mr and Mrs King, if not you'll have no one to replace your near-pensionable age regulars!

Well done, Chris & Clive!! We also sip cheap booze and peer out of our awning!! Come to think of it, so do a lot of our neighbours!! What is annoying is that people think that because you choose to have a seasonal pitch, you think you’re better than visitors. Well, this isn't so. There has been many a time we've helped out in a crisis. Whether it be a corkscrew or milk for a morning cuppa. At the end of the day, camping is camping is camping wherever you’re visiting. It's all about what you want it to be, not what you expect it to be.

I have just been reading the opinions of some of the visitors to Kingsgreen. I am one of the 50-60yr olds that are accused of peering out of my awning and sipping CHEAP beer and wine. We were weekenders to this site to start with and the reason we now have a pitch all season is because WE LIKE the rules and regulations. We also LIKE JILL AND KEITH’S RUNNING OF THE SITE. Yes there are a few that are, shall we say, miseries on the site, but they are in the very few. I had my SIX grandchildren on site this year and they were received ok. THAT had nothing to do with being a regular, the rules apply to us as well. THAT’S why we chose to keep coming back. The fishing comps are to raise money for the air ambulance. At these over the season we raise thousands each year. There will always be people who hate rules, that’s people, but don’t knock a good site that’s clean and well kept, with hard work by the owners. We’ve been on some grotty sites and paid through the nose. Well done Jill and Keith and their daughter Sharon. Keep up the good work.

Having just spent a week here I found the site clean, well maintained & very relaxing. I wouldn't call the camp rules difficult just guidelines really. If you want to be busy 24/7 go to Butlins, if you want to sit back & relax this is the place to be!
