Superb campsite, lovely greenery, the pools are very nice, though there's some deterioration on the ground of the terraces, some of which is slippery to the point of being dangerous. The evening entertainment starts too late at 11pm, cars are still moving around all night, as there is a road through the campsite, as well as an autoroute nearby.

In summary, a noisy campsite, and the pools need some attention.

Very noisy campsite. You need to avoid all of the pitches that are alongside the A8 motorway. Also avoid those that are close to the staff tents (very noisy both day and night). It's a shame, as the facilities have been renovated, and are superb.

We have just returned from this site and have mixed views. The reception was quick and efficient and our pitch was spacious and surrounded by attractive shrubs and trees. However, even though we were 2 lanes back from the wall we found the motorway noise very intrusive, particularly at about 5 am. The level of noise does depend on the direction of the wind but sometimes it was almost unbearable.

Our boys aged 11, 13 and 15 found it hard to meet other kids as usually they would make friends at the football pitch but this was constantly hogged by young french adults who played very roughly when our boys tried to join in.

The area around the site was excellent, loads to do for all ages and the restaurants we tried were generally of a high standard. Lots of lovely beaches and the weather was fantastic for the whole two weeks.

The pools at the site were seriously in need of updating as there were large areas of paint flaking off in the childrens pool and jacuzzi and the whole of the pool and shopping area needs a good lick of paint as it is very stained and shabby. In contrast the loos, showers and washing up areas were in very good condition and kept very clean.

We would not return to this site, mainly due to the road noise and the state of the pools but would return to the area.

Had another great two weeks again here in Aug 10 as an independent camper which with its Botanical vegetation is the prettiest and best equipped site around. Our pitch was a good size near the entrance end of this very large site but beware for those with very large out fits that the pitch sizes do vary a lot and you may find you will have to park your car some where else. Difficult to guarrantee a big pitch at the peak times in July and Aug. The on site entertainment kept my 16 year old daughter and friend amused and they made many friends. It is a well established site that does have a mix of new and very old washing facilities but it was plentiful and mostly clean. The site shop is adequate for the essentials but very expensive so stock up at the Hyper market where possible. My only negative the site is 5 Km from the beach and centre of Fréjus if you want to drink late at the local bars. Reception staff were helpful and spoke good English.

I've been going to this site for more than 15 years, I find it brilliant, with very good entertainment, except that things are going downhill over time.

- The bottom of the pools are damaged, the paint, or worse the tiles, are coming off, with the risk of cutting your feet. Same for the surrounds, where the ground is rutted (doubtless due to the frosts of recent years).

- Evening entertainment is more and more repetitive.

- No longer any signs to help you find where you are

Summary: the campsite has grown, and for the last 2 or 3 years has installed mobile homes. It's no longer of a human size, it's profit above all, and hard luck if you're not happy. They turn away plenty of people each year, and have no reason to care about you.

We were at this campsite for the first fortnight of July, in the Bastidon (6-person) behind the pool, and it was clean, quite large, just the small problem of not enough place settings and glasses.

Super children's club, and excellent entertainment, with a super chief entertainer. We were able to participate in the Olympiad on the 14 July, where we lost “red against blue”.

There were lots of Dutch, who cried the day of their defeat in the World Cup, and quite a few Belgians.

Pools were clean, large and well maintained, with lifeguards everywhere.

Snack bar and restaurant were excellent, the shop was great, and the best of all, for we tried it, were the really excellent massages.

A nice gesture was the bottle of rosé on arrival.

For the children, the arrival of the circus, and bouncy castles, was great as well.

We came back for the weekend last week, but this time in a mobile home (number 46), and is was really well situated, and very clean.

We’ve been going to La Baume since 1993. The first few years were brilliant, but for several years now, we’ve been noticing several negative points. The entertainment is not so good, the security lacking, the pools are deteriorating and are not being repaired, the lifeguards more interested in chatting amongst themselves than in watching the swimmers. Conclusion: since the managements changed, the prices go up every year but the service goes down! And the first to suffer are the mobile home owners, as they find new rules imposed! Food for thought for the management.

Visited in Aug 2009 with Eurocamp independent and got a generous size pitch near to the motor way side that runs very close to the site- the noise for us was quite acceptable as the site is elevated and hidden behind a wall. This is our third visit to this site and we highly recommend it if you have got teenagers as our 15 year old daughter made loads of friends who hang out at the late night disco. There is a watchful security so we never worried about her safety. It is a big site and it can be a fair walk to many of the amenities with two fantastic pool complexes, we had bikes which were useful. Washing areas plentiful and mostly very modern and clean although the one nearest to us was very old and in need of a refurb. Who uses turkish style toilets these days.

The location is the best for climate and sight seeing but the beach areas do get very busy in the high season, get there early for a good parking space.

I'm 13 and I had the best holiday I have ever had so far there!

The 7 pools ALL amazing, made some really good friends, some of the toilet blocks were really outdated but the others, brand spanking new and really impressive!

OMG I want to go back so bad, but my parents like to go to different places each year :(

The park had loads to do, pools, a gym, tennis, volley ball, basket ball etc it had bars that were really relaxed... it was just generally AMAZING!!!

GO, GO, GO!!!!!

:D

Myself, my wife and 4 children have been coming to La Baume for at least 6/7 years now, the campsite always seems to be getting better every time we return with something new nearly every year. Its a large campsite where it is best to be close to either La Baume or La Palmeraie as it can be quite a walk if you are anywhere in between. The pools are brilliant with great facilities. Theres 2 bars and 1 restaurant - all excellent. The campsite is very safe with many guards, making it very suitable for families. Before going to La Baume we travelled to many campsites, but none quite as good as La Baume. I stayed with companies like Keycamp, Eurocamp etc on my first few years, but found them very expensive while the staff weren’t all that helpful!

I ended up renting a pitch and bought a mobilehome for it. Its very close to the La Baume side of the campsite, it sleeps 6 in total. It has a large patio area with gazebo and everything else! I have a great management company managing it for me, they they live on site. If anyone wants more info or would like to book it please email me to monaghan12@hotmail.co.uk. Overall, La Baume La Palmeraie is a brilliant campsite, with many facilities. Great for all the family. 10/10. Look forward to hearing from you!

We stayed in a mobile home which was clean and sufficient for our needs. The location of our caravan wasn't as close to the main reception and activities as we would have liked. We found staff at La Baume very efficient and friendly. Campsite is in a good location for travelling to St Tropez, Monaco and other fantastic places to visit. Entertainment around the main pool was very good and encouraged people to participate in the daily activities. Even though we enjoyed the holiday very much, I think we would like to stay at a smaller site next time.

We loved it here. We stayed at a different campsite last year and went to look at La Baume on our last day, we were able to pick out the good pitches away from the bar area and motorway noise. The pitches are of a generous size and the site is well landscaped. My 19 year old made lots of friends and had a great time. The toilet blocks were very clean, amazing on such a big site. The shop is expensive but stocks most things we hired a fridge and went to Carrefour it's cheaper, if you go when it opens you beat the queues! The area is great, there is plenty to do and we would never holiday in any other part of France now.

The only downside was the 2 cases of beer that the young french boys stole from our awning-we nearly caught them the second time they came back! Also take your sandals in to the pool with you my son had a brand new pair of Vans flip flops stolen!

This will be the fourth year that we have returned to this site in July. As someone above said, we have found heaven on earth. We have three children, and each time the holidays are over, we start to count down until the next ones! The toilet bocks are impeccably clean, the staff like we have never seen, the the pitches are more than spacious! For us, it's a 10/10!

We visited La Baume in August 2008 with 3 children, aged 5, 11 & 15. The location is good if you want to visit the sights on the Riviera as you are just off the A8, giving easy access to all the sights. Pools are nice but beware, any flouting of the pool rules & you will be marched out by security. We have been to sites all over France & love the Riviera, but didn't think that La Baume was the best site. We had a wonderful holiday, but probably wouldn't return to La Baume.

Plus points - nice pools, good location.

Minus points - lots of teenagers (all drinking), site not so well kept, lack of other facilities, entertainment poor

If you want a base to explore the Riviera, it is perfect, but there are much nicer sites on the Riviera.... we preferred Pachacaid, much nicer site.

Oh my god it was the best holiday ever. I went with my husband and 4 other adults. The campsite was situated in an ideal area. The mobile home and shower facilities were spotless. The only down side was that we could not barbeque. However we had air conditioning and could cook inside. My advice to anyone going to this campsite is to buy groceries in the supermarket outside the campsite towards Fréjus as it is much cheaper. My biggest regret is we didn't book for two weeks.

Myself and my family of four have been going to this campsite since 2004. And ever year we always go back which i am extremely happy about. "I Just Love It".:) There's something to do for everyone of different personalities. My dad and my brother love sport of any kind so spend most of the day footballing at the tennis courts and playing archery in the evening. There are so many facilities. Whilst my mum and I bathe in the sun at the pool. The pools are clean safe and have a great atmosphere to them. The lifeguards are very good at their job. To me its just heaven the palm trees, blue skies, and of course the sun. At night you can enjoy a relaxing meal outside your mobile home with the family, or dine at the restaurant which has AMAZING pizza by the way. :) ! And followed by the disco at night. As we have been going to this campsite for a long time seeing the familiar faces of all nationalities make it a warming comforting place to stay. The clean comforting mobile homes are a great bonus to us all .

I would recommend this site to anyone. Sun, Blue Skies, Palm Trees, and lots of things to do what more do you want?

I would never go on holiday anywhere else but La Baume-La Palmeraie Campsite.

Clara Wright.

We were at this campsite, unfortunately in the month of September, with children aged 4 and 5, and we found that there were no longer any activities, and the children were a bit disappointed.

Also, it is true that the pools were rather a long way from our pitch, and when one has two young children, you have to take a lot of stuff with you, all on foot with robes, rubber rings, playthings etc etc. It's not brilliant at the pool; the security is too strict - the children, who love slides, were not allowed on them either alone (sensibly) nor accompanied.

But we are thinking of returning this year, in August this time, to see if it's different! For despite everything, it remains a very good campsite.

After reading the good and bad extremes of the reviews above, I felt it worth adding my own contribution. Everyone entitled to their own opinion I suppose, but it is not dirty and awful as it appeared to be last September.

Good points :-

- The pools. Plenty of slides and other variety and well supervised by lifeguards.

- For a campsite, a decent restaurant.

- Good sporting facilities with plenty of organised and ad hoc games.

- Considering the scale, well maintained and landscaped.

- Plenty to do in the surrounding area, but you do need a car.

- For mid/late teens a disco kicking off at 11pm. A concession to us 40 somethings on Sunday.

Bad points :-

- As suggested above, the one restaurant for the whole site is not enough.

- Variable customer service. Some charming and helpful people but some grumpy petulant people who really should not be involved in the tourist industry.

- Again for the scale of the place, although the supermarket was ok, it is simply not big enough.

- Not brilliant for kids in the 11-14 bracket who probably dont want to be part of a kiddies club, but too young for the 11pm disco.

On the whole though, an extremely enjoyable experience. We are consideriung going back.

I was at this site for 4 nights in 2007. It was a disaster for us with 2 children aged 5 and 7. The site is HUGE compared to others we stayed in over a period of 8 years. This gives a problem of constantly moving traffic and if you were unfortunate enough to be at the end of the site you would be 15 minutes walk from any pool, restaurant, bar or shop...at least that's what it's called. More a large stall to be honest.

To be fair if you had teenagers of 15 to 19 it is heaven, with loads of good looking teenagers prowling the pools in search of fun with members of the opposite sex. Fine for them but they tend to be loud and boisterous and its not a place for any kid under 13.

Hello, we spent 3 weeks at this campsite, which is very big, but very clean and very calm considering its size. If there's anything to moan about, it's that the restaurant is much too small for the size of the campsite, and the price of the children's barbecue is very high at €16 for a 3-year-old, and the sea is quite a distance, you'll need the car.

Love this campsite, this year will be our 4th time going. Our 4 children love it, aged 15,14,12 and 10, there is so much for them to do, and the site is so safe. The older 2 boys are meeting friends they made over the last 2 years, it seems families just keep coming back, so they are really looking forward to it. We do hire a car though as the beach at St Agulf is about 15mins away, as is the Aqualand. Also, for shopping, there is a Leider Price about 5mins away, more variety, and definitely a bit cheaper...essential when feeding 4 hungry beasties :) There is a bus service, just outside the campsite, takes you into Frejus, and the train from St Raphael allows you to see the country, we took it up to Monaco the first year, gorgeous.

I think if we suggested going anywhere else there would be a war in our house!! Going next week again and cannot wait..let the relaxing begin!

La Baume is awful! Do not go it is dirty unkept it all needs closing down and doing up. The pools were dirty with algae growing on steps and on the bottom. There was graffiti everywhere the pizza bar was dirty the area was horrible.

Electricity boxes are left open everywhere: very dangerous. The pitches are not private at all and there is always traffic travelling around the site constantly because of its size!

Horrible horrible horrible we left after 2 days and were meant to be there for 10! A disaster.

Hello, we stayed in this magnificent place at the end of August. Super super super. Good activities. Super sport, especially their Olympics and their races. Catering by the pizza man - my they're good those pizzas with their delicious runny cheese, yum! Heavenly surroundings with palms and olives, magnificent greenery. Toilet blocks very clean, and cleaned very regularly. The cottages where we stayed were comfortable, with patios, but it's a shame that the fridge and the kitchen corner were very small. Clean though. Good welcome. Very good disco. What really makes it deserve its 5 stars are the super big pools with lots of slides, and very well supervised with 1 to 3 lifeguards per pool. For those of you with children, it's great for them, and for you, so relaxing. No more expensive than other campsites in the same range.

We have just returned from this campsite and agree that it was fantastic, particularly if you have teenage children. I would agree, however, that our easygoing 11-year-old daughter found it more difficult to make friends. The facilities were great and our mobile home exactly as advertised by Keycamp and was clean and well equipped. We were nervous beforehand that the campsite might be too big and unfriendly but the well-designed site layout with its tall pine trees and winding roads gave an intimate and private feeling.

We did venture to Fréjus old town and the port as well as to Saint Tropez, Fayence (very picturesque hilltop village) and returned to the UK via Monte Carlo. All were worth visiting. Despite local information, there is no windsurfing on the lake 20 minutes inland but great facilities at the beach at Fréjus.

We would recommend La Baume to anyone with older children and are considering visiting again next year.

This campsite is super. There are all sorts of activities; you never get bored with the pools, the slides, the table-tennis, the tennis courts etc...

In the evenings, there is always a show and the disco. I'm only 12, but I too have my opinion of this campsite, which is brill.

Have been going to this campsite since 2002 along with three to four other families and each year the teenagers decide we are going back again. This is now our 5th year and probably our last, as our two lads will be doing their own holidays.

All families have enjoyed this site and the facilities are probably the best available on any site in France.

Security is good on this site and the staff are generally friendly although one of the lifeguards this year was not very teenage friendly.

The only problem with this area are the forest fires and we nearly had to evacuate in 2005.

Finally I would fully recommend this as a teenager site.

This campsite is so cool. I had a great holiday there. I'm 16 and English and the campsite is fantastic for teenagers. There are loads of things to do so it's never boring and it's great at night too. It's easy to make friends if you just go up to the top bar there's sure to be loads of kids that you can meet. The disco was mint. I met loads of great friends. The site is really safe so my parents were not worried about where me or my younger brother were. It is a great site for the whole family to relax and have fun.

It's easy to travel and we went to Monaco, which was amazing! Although there is no need to leave the wonderful site. It's brilliant!

Being first timers to French campsites it is hard to compare. Yes the site had all the facilities mentioned but we found by being English you are in the minority. Whereas my husband and I found this rather pleasant, our children ages 8 and 11 found it difficult. For sociable kids they were unable to buddy up, the site was so large we seldom saw the same families twice.

The site is very popular with the older teenager and whilst this is not a problem you are bound to be splashed by a young female being pushed into the pool by a young admirer. Amusing to watch at first but can become tiresome. We did notice that in our second week when a lot of the French had left that announcements were made in English as well as French, something that had not happened previously?

We had a great time but seek a smaller site if we go again.

All of this is true!! Campsites of this quality are rare!! I must stress the friendliness of the staff, and the cleanliness of the area!! We go 4 or 5 days a year in May!! We live in Nice!!

Indeed according to all the positive reviews seen here, one cannot but appreciate this campsite. For my part, I'm 17 years old, and I've been going since I was 10! Since the first time, I have really appreciated this little corner of paradise, for the pool games, the children, the pools and the slides, then on growing up I have found just as many activities, such as sport (still the pool of course), but also the disco, well supervised, where you can make loads of friends. A wonderful place.

This is an exceptional site for families with facilities for children of all ages. There are five swimming pools, water slides, kiddy pools and a spa pool. The pool attendants/lifeguards are excellent and very professional. Inflatables are not allowed in the pool in the high season. There is free entertainment laid on at the pool during the day. There are two bars, a restaurant, two snack bars, so a bit for everyone. I love this site because of its safety. The security staff are very professional and there are rarely any problems in the bars at night. I am happy to let my children roam at will which allows us to relax and enjoy ourselves. The sporting facilities are excellent and free as is the nightly entertainment. The location is fantastic as a base to visit the Cote D'Azur. This place is difficult to fault. If anyone would like to know more I am happy to answer emails at harrycobeans@tiscali.co.uk

We went for the first time in 1998, and discovered paradise!! No need to travel to distant isles, you have everything necessary here. Sun, blue skies, palm trees, flowering laurels, activities, discos... in short we have three children (10 16 and 20 years) who would not miss their holidays at this site for the world. We have given the address to friend who have also caught the bug. So, we recommend it, but not too much, as it is getting more and more difficult to get a mobile home. If that tempts you to make a reservation (ask for the list of privately owned homes) start in September!! We will be staying from 16/7/05 - good luck to you.
