Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We found the facilities on this site very poor. The gents and ladies toilets and showers were dirty and had broken toilet seats. They did not look as if they had been maintained or properly cleaned for a long time. When having a shower it was difficult to keep your clothes dry as there was no curtain to separate a dry area in the cubicle. The ladies showers usually had hot water but the gents showers were often cold. The laundry area was closed until further notice and I only went into the dish washing area once and walked straight back out. We felt that for the size of the site they could have done with another shower/toilet block and chemical toilet disposal point nearer the tents and tourers. We found some users of the site less considerate than others when disposing of rubbish and cleaning out their chemical toilet. The site had a general unkempt feel about it. There was another touring site very nearby called Castle Bay Caravan Park and it had a much nicer feel about it and we may try this another time as the village of Portpatrick itself was nice and had plenty of eating places although I felt the choice of provisions in the general stores were poor. I would advise taking a stock of provisions with you if you don't want to spend a lot of money eating out. There was a nice walk from the campsite into the village although it was a steep climb back up but don't be put off as there was a bench halfway to have a rest.

What a shame that such a beautiful little village is spoilt with having such an eyesore nearby. We have been to many primitive camping parks, this must be one of the worst we've come across in recent times. We stayed one night, only because it was too late to find anywhere else at 9.30 pm. So sorry to say so, but we should not encourage sites like this to ruin the good name of the traditional British camping holiday experience. Any potential campers should give this place a wide berth. GOOD POINTS: Galloway Point holiday park has so much potential that could be improved by simple imagination and investment, ie.a mop and bucket. Please do not be put off from visting Portpatrick it's worth a day visit at least.
