This is an excellent camp site for families as it has a very good adventure/play area. It is a large site but with easy access to Shower/Toilet Blocks which, like the rest of the park are very clean.
There is a 'Dog Walk' around the edge of the park, where you can walk your dogs. The camp shop has more or less everything you need and it is very reasonably priced. The local town of Wem is a very short drive away, (5 minutes in the car) where they have an excellent Chip/Kebab/Pizza shop!!
The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is an adults-only bar on site but also an outside covered area where you can sit with the kids & the dog & have a drink. The heated outdoor swimming pool was very clean, but busy as it was good weather when we visited.
The only bad point is 'The Barn' where they hold regular discos for the kids.
It is just like a large shed with a concrete floor, although the kids loved it!
All in all it is an excellent site with good facilities for Tents and Tourers.
We shall definitely be going back.

I have been going to Lower Lacon for 15 years first in a tent then a tourer and now in a static holiday home. The site is very well run and family friendly; I would not go anywhere else. There is a new barn being built at the moment for the kids with a kitchen in it, and eventually the pub is going to be rebuilt and the pool enlarged. All the facilities are well maintained and very clean. You would have to go a long way to beat the helpfulness of the staff: nothing is too much trouble for them, and they are always cheerful. My children, who are now grown up, take their children now, and they all love it. 50 minutes from home and lovely country surroundings - we all love it.

My ideal campsite is a field with a stream running through it, so I visited Lower Lacon on a bank holiday weekend with some trepidation. I needn’t have worried; we had a really good time. It was very busy, our section of the site was heaving. By lunchtime on Saturday, cars in the middle of the family field were hemmed in by a cordon of tents; egress was impossible. An exit channel was eventually mapped through at the expense of a few run over, bent and very well driven in guy rope pegs. There was considerably more space still available on the overflow field, so all credit to the management for putting the "no vacancies" sign up when they did.
"Jakk’s Barn" is now in use at Lower Lacon - It’s the size of an aircraft hanger, with black décor throughout. There was a 60s tribute band playing when we visited. The noise levels were painful - we are talking 747-taking-off-200-metres-away noise levels - definitely unhealthy for children, who all seemed to sit on the floor in front of the over-driven speakers. The site itself is still pretty much as previously described, with the "adults only" bar by the swimming pool offering sanctuary from the racket in the barn. The food and drink prices across the park are very reasonable with cask-conditioned beers available in the adults only bar and at Jakk’s Barn.
The overall atmosphere was excellent; everyone seemed to enjoy themselves without causing too much bother with their neighbours. I was very surprised by the lack of noise at night considering the density of tents. By midnight, all was quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will return, perhaps outside of peak season. Apparently, Guy Fawkes Night is quite spectacular at Lower Lacon, the bonfire is already a few metres high and its still only May.

Just returned from 3 nights here, the site is well managed, the reception and shop staff friendly and the warden always has a friendly word, the toilet and showers are some of the cleanest I have seen, they are cleaned at frequent intervals throughout the day, there is also a bathroom for disabled and ramp access to toilets. The weather was kind to us on our visit (July 08) and children were making good use of the heated pool, the newly built Jakk’s Barn is clean and there is a disco or some sort of entertainment at weekends. My only niggle with this site is there is a lot of seasonal pitches scattered around, and a lot of them look like they have been pitched for years, the awnings have been left up and have gone mouldy/ripped etc, so give of a somewhat scruffy outlook. Apart from this minor thing, the site is very good, with lots to do for a weekend break or summer family holiday.

We have just got back from a 3 night break over the Easter bank holiday. Never been before but have heard great things about the site so thought we would try it out in our trailer tent with our 2 year old son. On arrival the reception staff and in particular the rangers were really friendly and helpful. We got a great spot on the family field. Pegging in wasn’t so bad we were expecting it to be much worse. Great play park and toilet blocks were clean. Had great night in the disco in Jakks but got very busy to the point of heaving! The bad points that we encountered was the noise by groups of inconsiderate individuals playing loud music all day and into the night constantly. We actually saw people pack up and move pitches to try get away from such groups. Also on a trip to the toilets at 2am I was confronted by groups of girls sitting on the sinks playing music which was very daunting. Would just like to point out that the Rangers do a fantastic job and felt very safe seeing then patrolling throughout the day and night! Will be returning but not over a bank holiday again!!
