We stayed on this campsite August Bank Holiday 2005. Initially we thought that the site was great, beautiful flat grassy area for tents and a great location but and this is a big but! the facilities really let it down. The toilets and showers were dirty, unheated and at night the lights are switched off so if you need to get up during the night you had to scramble around in the dark and that is a bit scary for young children, and take your own toilet paper, it is provided occasionally but......
The other thing we found quite shocking was the hot water, ok so you had to pay for a shower (20p) but 20p to wash your hands with hot water after using the toilet. Also, you are charged (20p) for tepid water to wash your dishes. You might expect this on a budget site but, you are charged £5.00 per adult, £3.00 for children and £2.00 for each vehicle for this you don't even get a freezer for your ice packs, so if you plan on staying any longer than a day using your cool box is impossible.

Stayed at this campsite this weekend (Aug '07), as it's only a short walk from the local town, this is the only plus! On arrival all we received from the local farmer was a grunt, no greeting or information. It is very expensive for what it is, £6.00 per night, per person. Couldn't believe that you have to pay 20p for a hot shower - for your 20p you get a 4 minute shower and second degree burns, there is no way of changing the temperature. The toilet/shower block is absolutely disgusting, very poor facilities to wash. It's just a field and a decrepit [here, the text submitted finishes]

I have been to this campsite a few times with my boyfriend and think its ok. Taking your own provisions i.e. toilet paper dosent bother me, neither does 20p for hot water to wash up.
I dont bother with the showers I know this sounds filthy but have a shower before you head out and a weekend here isnt a problem with just a wash!!
I have always found that baby wipes come in really useful (dont need hot water for hands then ha ha)

Stayed at Hendre Farm for 4 days this July 2008. £22 per night for two adults and 2 children. Toilets have been painted, but still very basic. Still 20p for a very hot shower lasting a few mins. 10p for hand wash water. The site is just a flat field that is prone to water logging. On top of the road, so noise from the road and other campers throughout the night. Owner not helpful. The only plus side to this site is its proximity to Betws-y-Coed, just 5 mins away by foot.
Site far too expensive, very basic for the cost. Better and cheaper if you drive on.

We didn't book ahead and were very glad when we got there, since the campsite owner/warden was downright rude so we were glad we could make a lucky escape!
We found a beautiful and friendly site under 5 miles away and will add a review for this site separately.

Stayed here a few weekends during May and June 2009. The new owners, who only took over beginning of May, are lovely family people. They have many new ideas for improving all the facilities at the site and plan to do this out of season. The position of site is great, walking distance to village where you can buy anything you may need, yet field can't be seen from the road. The views of hillside are amazing. There are sheep in the field next door. You are woken by the beautiful dawn chorus of birds in the trees. Close to many good walks and only short walk across to the river. Recommended for families and couples. We are both looking forward to many weekends there this summer.

Stayed at this campsite 6-9th June 2009!!
Site has recently been taken over by new owners.
The owners were very friendly and helpful!
They informed us that as they have just taken over the facilities were slightly basic but they would be improving on the off season.
Although basic, they kept all facilities very clean! Yes it is 20p for a shower but the water is hot and the water for washing your pots again 20p but got plenty of boiling water.
The campsite is a 5 minute walk in to the beautiful village and only a 5 minute drive from swallow falls and the ugli house.
The view is amazing! There is a fair bit of space and the area is kept very clean.
As an avid camper, who camps around Britain every three weeks, I was quite impressed by this site and will be very much looking forward to going back in June next year!!!
