We have holidayed here for the last 6 years, so this year decided to do split 10 days in the Vendee (La Loubine) and the last 4 days here at Chateau des Ormes the kids couldn't wait to get here, des Ormes never lets us down, it is so lovely, and as usual we will be rebooking for next year.

I live in Kent but spend three months of the year in St Leonard, the nearest village to the Elms (the English for Des Ormes). The village was built in 1751. All the village is listed property. The bar and restaurant are run by Jean Luc and his wife Annie, an excellent cook. One should make reservations in advance. French food there is reasonable on the pocket. You will return.
I liked it so much I bought a house there and spend three months there each year.

We thought that the campsite was extremely good. Because there was lots to do and it was very fun. It was quite busy but we went horse riding in the morning so it wasn't that busy in the afternoon.

My family and I have recently returned from Chateau Des Ormes and have had a brilliant time. We stayed with Keycamp in a Villa Grand Deluxe. As soon as we stepped in to our mobile home we were so pleased! Hot water comes through perfectly and the showers are very powerful for a mobile home! It was a very clean mobile. The campsite overall was very impressive and there is a lot for kids-teenagers to do. My children both enjoyed the disco every night and there is also the lake in which you can enjoy pedaloing! The pools are nice and warm as well. My only downside towards the site is that ponies/horses ride around the site and leave droppings quite a lot. There is a great adventure park if your are up for a challenge inc zip-wiring.
Overall I definitely recommend this site to any family.
If your kids are not so keen, I can tell you now, you won't see them!

I stayed for a week in August with my family, while noisy at nights due to us being situatued very close to entertainment and unfortunately right next door to the toilets!, the site itself was wonderful.
Loads of activities, the pools were great, the adventure tree climb thing was brilliant and great value, massive workout though!
The alcohol was expensive, however the meals at the restaurant were really well priced and delicious.
Great beaches nearby, big supermarkets not too far away and beautiful scenery.
I plan to go again in September this year with my boyfriend instead.
Ormizzy system was well worth using. You get loads of discounts!

We Went to Chateau Des Ormes with Keycamp, staying in a mobile home. Our 5 kids, aged from 18 months to 16 loved it, there was plenty to do on the site for them, and us! This was our first visit to France on a family holiday and we had an excellent time. Our 3 year old had an asthma attack while we were there and the night security staff were absolutely brilliant, they called an ambulance, translated for us with the ambulance crew and called back in the next night to see how he was (fully recovered, happily!)
I would thoroughly recommend this site for families of all ages!

We stayed here with three of our four children, ranging in ages from 15 to 5 and they want to go back! We went with Keycamp and had their supertent. The facilities were all very good, the entertainment during the day for the children was fantastic. We never used the evening entertainment, as it didn't start until 9pm some evenings and I had to put the 5year old to bed. There was lots to do for my partner and I to do whilst the kids were in the clubs (Golf, adventure park for the adults and older children, climbing wall, swimming, pony trekking.. to name but a few). The toilets were cleaned twice a day, and they were adequate. We found the site was the perfect location as it meant only 30 mins from St Malo port, 30 mins from the beautiful town of Dinan and 40 mins from St Cast. We all want to go back, I would recommend taking a few extra pillows though, as you only get two for a double bed and by the third night I had to take painkillers as I must have hurt my neck in the night! Only down side was the teenage discos each night which didn't end until the early hours, so it did get a bit noisy sometimes around 2am

Brilliant site and much improved since our last visit in 1995. Don't know how they define low season though, we were there between 24th June and 5th July, entertainment was very limited, one karaoke night and the reps doing their 'thing',,,,hmmmm,,,, big fun pool was only opened from 2pm til 6pm. But there is always something to do during the day. Surrounding area is great for visiting, St. Malo with it's walled city, Dinard (best market ever!), Mont St Michael to see the fast tide come in. Do brush up on your French, not everyone around the area speaks English, or claim not to, but if you try a little French, they seem to recollect that yes, they actually do know a little,,,,so make the effort and so will they. Staff on the site are helpful, do take care if you go pony trekking, not all the horses are suitable for first time riders as one of our party found out to her cost.
But I'd have no hesitation in recommending this site to people.

My family only stayed one night so did not get time to appreciate some of the things mentioned above however, objectively speaking, the clientele were almost all British and this was not conducive to the kind of atmosphere and ambience we are used to when camping in France. Despite the dire warnings posted around the site about what would happen to "perturbateurs" making noise after 11pm there was no evidence whatever as to any ability or inclination on the proprietors' part to carry these out. There was a good deal of noise after 11 pm and our toilet block was vandalised while we were there.
The setting is beutiful but the layout was very open where we were so there was zero privacy outside the tent. I would recommend a mobile home rather than a tent if you are a light sleeper.
All round though a fantastic site for kids of all ages with some really good and imaginative activities provided.

Good points about this campsite: excellent facilities. There is a huge golf course, pedaloes, canoes, horse riding centre, paint balling (highly recommended), zip wire/high ropes, 3 amazing pools (one of which is a wave pool), large spacious pitches, good access roads for caravans, well stocked shop, very efficient and helpful reception team, tennis courts, good cycling around campsite and outside. Points to note: the washrooms need updating and cannot really cope with the number of people in high season. This campsite is very good for older teenagers (they have their own disco until 3am) but the combination of lots of British teenage males and unlimited alcohol is not always a happy one! This campsite is heavily patronised by the British so if you're looking for a French feel to it, you may be disappointed.

Absolutely fantastic holiday, we travelled with 6 children aged 1 to 17 and they all said it was the best yet. We stayed 3 weeks and still didn't do all the activities. We will definitely return next year. The new indoor pool complex and wave pool were brilliant, my favourite was the bar in the nearby village of St Leonards which we frequently visited for a coffee or beer. Dol de Bretagne is a great town especially on Saturday when the market is on. My teenagers loved the disco which they partied in till 3am every morning they made many friends. My middle children 10 and 7 loved golf and fishing and the weekly football tournament. The weather was better than in the UK only 2 wet days out of 21 and a few scorching 30 degrees where we all lazed by the many pools. Well worth a visit.

We went to le Château des Ormes last year and had a great time. With two teenagers, (12 and 14) we found that this site offered a good mix of family, and kids only, entertainment and activities. The site itself is very well maintained and the emplacements were large and sunny. St. Malo, at only half an hour away, is well worth a visit, with good shopping and beaches. A truly impressive fortress town with plenty of restaurants and bars. Dol de Bretagne has a pretty high street with some lovely medieval buildings and a market. This has been our fifth holiday in France and 'Des Ormes' was by far the best site we have stayed at, with the most to offer a family with teenage kids. We are returning this year with another family and can't wait to visit local towns that we missed last time! Our only criticism was that we found that some toilet blocks were much better than others. However the indoor pool was very good, with warm jets, baby pool, jacuzzi etc ,all in a tropical setting and when they were not completing the overhead adventure course, horseriding or using the climbing wall the outdoor wave pools and slide pools kept the kids busy all holiday . Also, the fishing is good-I caught a massive carp in on of the lakes, (free if your have your own rod)! All in all a great holiday...roll on summer and our next visit!

We visited this campsite for the first time in July 2007. We had heard excellent reviews about this site from friends and they more than lived up to our expectations. We booked with Keycamp, our only complaint were areas of the accommodation were not as clean as we would have liked. The pitch we had was fantastic (Bois de la Croix). We have never done a camping holiday like this before, however as we had such a good time we intend to return next summer. The pools were quite impressive, although the new covered pool was not open when we were there as promised in the brochure. Our wee boy loved watching the horses, and feeding the ducks. We tried the snack bar which food ok, but limited choice. Good bakers at the supermarket. Pub quite reasonable. Nearby village of St. Leonards has a good pub, shop, restaurant. Nearby Dol has a good range of shops, especially the patisserie. There was a circus which was good old fashioned entertainment. During our stay there was a firework display, which was extremely loud and late at night, it scared our 2 year old. Great site, will be back!

We are returning to this site for the third time this year! The facilities on this site are excellent & the staff are friendly & helpful. At the time of our last visit, we had 2 small children, 6&4 & I was heavily pregnant with our third child. As I wasn't up to much sight seeing, we didn't go off site much and there was plenty to keep us entertained. As we went at Whit, we didn't find the site overly busy, there was no noise after 11pm, as most other families seemed to have young children also. Although it is mainly English families, we were close to several German families and families from Ireland. Our visit this year will be our last for a while, only because we would like to explore other areas of France, but I would & have recommended this site to anyone!

We have been to this site for the last 7 years. Best we have ever been to.
It has something for all ages. Our children are aged 3 and 13 and they both love it.
The only down point is most of the activities are out door so you need it to be dry.
Also most of the people on the camp are British and Irish which I know is something some people try to avoid.
Going back on the 29th September 2008 and can't wait.

We have just returned from a fortnight at the Château des Ormes. We travelled with Eurocamp - as we have done for the last 10 years - but this has to be the best so far. The many facilities on site kept both our children, aged 10 and 14, busy and they met so many friends. That left us pretty much tied to the site but we cycled down through the woods to the cafe in the little village nearby for a coffee frequently, played golf, watched cricket or simply relaxed and read! The site is very well run and clean. The staff were efficient and friendly too. We have never gone back to a site before but we are all agreed that we may well book for August 2007.

Been to this campsite twice now, loved it both times. Plenty of activities to do for all ages, the horse riding was good fun, well worth the money, I've only been on a horse once before this. Went around the campsite and to my surprise found a second fishing lake.
This lake near the golf course down a dirt track is awesome, caught lots of twenty pound carp, definitely the better of the two lakes, the one nearest the clubhouse is still good for carp and float fishing.
The onsite food and shop was good, accommodation was very good.
Plenty to do outside the camp as well, Mont St Michel, villages etc.
Can't wait to go back armed with more fishing equipment and possibly stay in a treehouse or the nice wooden cabins.

We stayed here last year (2005) and are just about to return as we enjoyed it so much. We already loved the area but wanted a change from our usual gîte holiday, as our children needed more activities to keep them amused. We were delighted with this site - loads to do, nicely kept mobile homes and other facilities were well kept too. The tents and homes were well spaced out and you could never see too many all at once. Lots of trees and grass made it a very pleasant area to stay in, and we stayed on site far more than we thought we would as the children found so much to do. Cycling, both on the site and in the surrounding area, was good. The site staff were very helpful, particularly when our son needed an emergency dental appointment.

We stayed here in our own tent in August 2005. We found that there was plenty for the children to do. A beautiful site with good sized pitches and good facilities. The shop was well stocked with it's own wine cave that was good value for money. There is a fun pool with flumes for the children and then a quiter pool elsewhere for relaxing and swimming. Loads of sports facilities for all ages. The circus visited whilst we were there. A good take away and a nice restaurant. Just a little noisy at night.

We stayed at des Ormes in June 2005 in a tent. It is everything you read in the brochures and there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. The camp is huge but the tents and mobile homes are not too regimented. The facilities were excellent, clean with constant hot water (a first in my experience).
I don't know if other camps do this but at des Ormes you buy a wrist watch type gadget which is credited with however many euros you want to pay for, so you can buy drinks or food without the need to carry money. It also operated the security barrier to enter the camp.
The campsite includes a full size golf course which is fantastic even if you do not play golf (which I don't) as a walk around it takes hours in very pleasant scenery. Cycling is also excellent, both within the site and on the quiet country roads nearby.
Our children are grown up now (in an age sense anyway) but would have loved the site, there is plenty to do for kids of all ages from horse riding, adventure trails to the clubs for the younger ones.
There are two pool complexes, one with slides etc and another, the quieter area with three small pools that were uncrowded. The shop, a Spar is very well stocked and the wine shop is very reasonable. We used the takeaway, which was clean reasonably priced and quick. But the restaurant is absolutely wonderful with excellent food and again wine is reasonable.
We intend visiting again this year but this time staying in a mobile home, we are in our fifties after all, but really recommend.

We stayed here in 2004 and it was utterly brilliant. The Ormizzy wristband is fab, you don't have to carry around cash at all.
The site is beautiful, the pool area is stunning (though we found the water freezing) and we are going back again this year as we were so impressed.

Very much a ‘holiday camp' with mainly British clients and as such, great for families but couples would find it too hectic. We camped in June in our own van. We were in a lovely tranquil lakeside spot but would probably not chance this campsite a second time.

Beautiful site. One that we had looked at many times. Stayed for 3 nights travelling from the south, early August a few years ago. Activities were fantastic but very busy and very British. Also, word of warning - don't know if we were unlucky but the shower and toilet facilities were totally inadequate and ruined our stay. One block was outdoor style cubicles (frequently with queues) that looked almost temporary and the other had disgustingly filthy toilets - at most times of the day. It was so bad that I couldn't wait to go home.
Terrible shame, as everything else about the site was perfect for anyone looking not to travel too far with plenty of activities for older children. Perhaps different in low season. I'd strongly recommend anyone visiting this site to stay in a mobile - you'll have your own facilities and then be able to enjoy what the site has to offer.
