To be recommended. Clean, welcoming, friendly, dynamic, entertainment even in low season.

Brilliant campsite. We went as a family, from 12 to 72 years old, and everyone found something to suit them. The grandparents liked the family atmosphere, with shows every evening for every taste, children's, cabaret, concert…), the parents liked the water facilities, with canoes and boats to hire in a magnificent setting, the landscape, the natural setting, the children's and teenagers' clubs. The children and teenagers liked the pleasant, warm pool, the disco evenings for the youngest ones, and the number of other youngsters for making friends. Entertainments team friendly and helpful. Lots of activities: football tournament, volleyball, water polo, aquagym every day.

Well stocked and very useful shop. Mobile home was very modern, extremely clean and comfortable. Shady site, which is good because there was a lot of sun.

On the other hand, watch out that there is no reception for mobile phones on the Orange/Bouygues networks within the campsite itself: you have to go to the football pitch beside the car park.

Lovely campsite, well kept and very clean. We stayed in a mobile home which was well equipped and quite new. The staff were very helpful. Overall, we were very happy here, and we'll be back.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

What should I say about this campsite?

Awful reception for people in a caravan or under canvas.

Of course, the mobile homes bring in more cash, despite the little welcome presents they get.

But in my opinion, what is disastrous and deplorable is the entertainment. Activities during the day are non-existent, apart from water polo for half an hour in the morning, and in the afternoon, nothing. Try getting a 12-year-old girl to play water polo. However, she did learn to play table football. No activities, no initiatives, and we had the impression that we were bothering them. Eg, the pétanque: We arrived at 4:50 and waited 20 minutes, till the activity leader arrived, cigarette in her mouth. How many are you? There were ten of us. We waited, what for, we never knew, and eventually started the game at 5:40.

There had been no preparation, no compensation, no tournament, nor tennis, nor badminton, nor table tennis, nor volleyball, nothing. A boating facility where hire was very expensive, and you weren't allowed to swim.

If you want to have fun, don't go here.

And don't mention the rivalry between the bar/restaurant, the entertainers, and the centre of the village. Where's our campsite of yesteryear? I'm on the brink of going further, and recounting my dissatisfaction to appropriate authorities.

Two weeks spent at Coteaux de la Marine at the end of June 2011. Pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the staff, a very pleasant campsite, peaceful, clean and relaxing, with an impeccable pool.

Magnificent region, with good walking.

Campsite with a very good location. Entertainment is high quality, super for the children. Peaceful, good quality services, very warm welcome. Very spacious mobile home for 6. We had a super stay in August 2010. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Camping les Coteaux de la Marine at Montpezat, and it went very well! The reception staff is very friendly and competent. We were in a mobile home for 6 people, and it was very good, immaculately clean. It had everything you could need: microwave, oven, dishes, pans, coffee-maker, big fridge…

It's true that the pool is often crowded, but not always, and there are always other fun sporting activities (fit club, aquafun, …)

The shop staff is also very friendly, and you can get all you need there.

You can hire canoes and kayaks, and electric boats and pedalos, but you can't swim, as it's too cold.

I recommend this great campsite, and the area is magnificent!

Stony, dusty pitch, not very big, and there was a tree stump in it.

Toilets and showers often not very clean, no deep cleaning, and they did not smell clean (do they use any cleaning products?)

So, why the 4 stars (you can find better quality for the price).

We just spent a week at the Coteaux de la Marine.

Superb welcome from the whole team.

Truly peaceful, outside school holidays.

Very comfortable mobile home, with a big fried and freezer, coffee maker, and microwave.

Everything is done to make campers comfortable, and so they have no reason to go out. There is a shop, restaurant, pool, and boating area on the river etc)

We went kayaking in the Gorges de Verdon, leaving directly from the campsite.

Superb place. We filmed it, because it was so magnificent.

My only regret is that at this point in the year, the lavender fields were not still in bloom.

The real plus point was the WiFi in the mobile home, via a pass card, so we had Internet throughout the week, so we were able to watch our favourite programmes from TF1 and M6 replay.

A campsite to be recommended, especially outside school holidays. I don’t know how it is in July and August, but we were looking for tranquillity, and we found it.

We’ve just returned from this campsite, and we have excellent memories of it. After visiting this website, we were a bit apprehensive, but this was swept away on arrival: very friendly welcome, very professional, everything was done to ensure we were near our friends, as we had asked, very competent entertainments team and above all very friendly (thanks and bravo to Anthony, Anna and the whole team) who gave us a very colourful stay. We have visited many campsites, and we have never before encountered people so concerned for our comfort and well-being in every respect. Thanks to Bertrand and his family (at the shop), and to the whole staff of the restaurant. In a word, if you want a relaxing break on your own, as a couple or as a family, go to the Coteau de la Marine and you won’t be disappointed. Everything is there to ensure you have the most pleasant stay. Super campsite, magnificent countryside. Once again, a big thank you to everyone from us all.

We went to the Coteau de la Marine in the first two weeks of August. Before we went, we read some reviews, and as they were very negative, we were rather apprehensive.

When we arrived, at noon, (we were in a mobile home) we were greeted very warmly, and to our great surprise they did everything to get us into our accommodation straight away.

The entertainment was perfect, the pool very clean, the entertainment team super-friendly, the welcome at the site shop also very warm, as it was at the restaurant.

We recommend this campsite, and it’s worth knowing that the Verdon is magnificent.

Our thanks to this campsite for its fantastic welcome.

We spent two weeks at this campsite. Very very good, super mobile home, super entertainment.

We thank the entertainments team (Anthony, Anna, Clément, Lise, Fuzzi, Hélène, Florent, Mia, Kévin, Dorothée) who ensured that every day was unforgettable. Thanks also to the managers Sabine and José for their warm welcome.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

I agree wholeheartedly with Fabien, this site is a disaster.

We went in August with our teenage children, and received a terrible welcome (not the adorable little blond girl, but the other one, who stayed opposite our mobile home). It’s only just that we irritated her with our requests (occasionally), we had spent and hour and a half extra on the road because of their incorrect GPS coordinates (we landed in the middle of nowhere).

That’s without mentioning the closeness of mobile homes to each other, the non-existent pinewoods, the disgusting toilets, the unfriendly so-called lifeguard, teens left to their own devices, rather than encouraged by the entertainers as they are on other sites. The manager did not receive us well when we had a problem with 10 or more youngsters who were squatting in a mobile home, not friendly, and with 2 cars when we only were allowed one.

The lady who came to check on departure told us that we had not cleaned it (though we had polished!) because there were traces of limescale on the shower door!

So, we’ll not be returning. I don’t recommend it to anyone, especially if you have young children. This campsite is aimed at youngsters, and those who want to party all night, despite the rules.

Good luck to anyone who goes there.

We’ve already been three times to the Coteau, and we find that it’s very good (and we’ve been to some campsites).

The welcome, the mobile homes, the atmosphere, no problems there.

The children have great fun at the pool, and the excursions in the area are super.

It’s very well situated, and I heartily recommend it.

In any case, we’ll be coming back!

We stayed here with our caravan in July 2009, and we were very disappointed by the site.

First of all, cleanliness. The toilets are atrocious, and I’m not exaggerating, it does not deserve its stars, and I think there should be some public health inspections. The pitches are fine, but in the evenings you can’t see to move around the site. The pool and the little shop are fine, as is reception (there is something positive at least). The entertainers do all they can to make you forget you are in a dump, apparently on the shores of the lake, but not actually The Lake, just an inlet where you can’t bathe as it’s so cold just there. You’ll need a car to find some nicer spots round the real lake. Excursions in the area are non-existent, and again you’ll need the car. And expect to take at least 45 minutes drive to get to the gorges. In summary, the Lac du Verdon, oh yes, but not at this campsite!

We went here despite the reviews, with the aim of having fun. We were (having read numerous negative reviews) somewhat apprehensive. We found that most of the criticisms were justified. Better not to go there with a tent, as the pitches are atrocious. Some mobile homes are so close to each other that their terraces touch, spoiling any chance of privacy.

Nevertheless, our holiday was really good, thanks to the activity leaders, who showed a great deal of motivation and lots of talent, and an exceptional versatility that they delivered with a smile. We have very good memories of Anthony, Anna, Clément, Lise, Fuzzi, Hélène, Florent, Mia, Kévin, Dorothée.

Sporting activities take place in rather precarious conditions (football pitch in a terrible state, tennis courts with potholes, etc).

As for the restaurant, the waiters are nice, but the quality of the food is less than average. Worth noting that the evening entertainment offered in the restaurant is not available to you unless you take a meal. As for the evenings organised by the activity leaders, they get stopped at 11.30 by rather disagreeable security staff, asking that you go home to bed (happy holidays!) in the name of certain holidaymakers who have no care at all if they wake you at 7am! Especially risky if you find yourself on a pitch near a toilet block.

Worth noting that the WiFi is extra! And there are big problems with mobile phone signal.

The success of our holiday lay in the extraordinary beauty of the site, and the inexhaustible dynamism of the activity leaders.

We spent 2 superb weeks in this campsite. We were in a mobile home (very well equipped). It’s true that they are rather close to each other, but this didn’t cause us any problems. The pool is clean and pleasant, the entertainment is lovely, and above all the activities team is really good. All the staff was pleasant, and they sorted out any problems very quickly. The children had great fun. The mini-shop on site, with fresh bread, croissants and papers, was very useful. Yes, you are a bit far from everything, but you know this when you book, and in any case, it’s an area where you’ll want to take the car to explore the various lake beaches, and all of the lovely spots around! I’ll come back to this campsite with no hesitation.

Deplorable and shameful reception! We have animals (dogs) and the campsite accepts them, but not more than 1! But that does not get a mention in their publicity! We had to wait an hour at reception they could consider our case, and to know whether the dogs would be accepted! But it only took 30 seconds for them to send us packing! Telling us in very unpleasant terms that they did not want more than one animal per family! So we left! And on the way we asked a policeman, who told us that this was false, and idiotic! So to those who love animals, we don't recommend either the area, or the campsite!

I was still at this campsite this morning, and I can tell you it is truly excellent.

The activity team is really kind, super.

There is a pool sports grounds, activities every day (aquagym, basketball, club for the little ones...).

The pitches are generally well shaded, though a bit crowded.

Before going, I was a bit sceptical, but I can tell you I've been converted.

The toilets are cleaned several times a day.

We've just returned from the Coteau de la Marine, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Only the inside of the mobile homes is up to scratch. The owner is foul, as is the food, there is no football pitch, just a rough patch next to a garbage dump, the basketball court is a rough patch, it's not possible to bathe in the lake, and finally the last day, after doing two hours of cleaning, I had to suffer an arrogant member of staff, who judged that the mobile home was not clean, and kept back €50 deposit (for steam on a mirror!!!) Unfortunately, they are not so careful about cleanliness at the pool or the restaurant. I would give it two stars, for the setting.

We went to the Coteaux de la Marine in the last week of August.

On arrival, a little disappointed, having the impression of being parked in a heap of mobile homes, piled one on top of the other.

We were up at the top, near to the so-called pinewoods. I think that the quality you get for the prices is rubbish; we paid €560 per week for a mobile home for three. The people in front of us paid just €360 per week for four, though they didn't have the advantage (like we did) of being hidden at the back, with a view over a wheat field, and with next doors terrace right next to us, both left and right, lovely when having a quiet breakfast outside!

Being very close to each other, we couldn't open the lounge curtains, without looking out on people eating on their terrace just in front, and my daughter couldn't open her bedroom window, thanks to being just 70cm from the neighbour's, which also stayed closed.

Normally, we'd expect the price to include a parking space next to the mobile home, but we must have been mistaken, as it was only our neighbour who could put his car there, we had to put ours wherever we could find a space!

The campsite itself wasn't bad, if there hadn't been all these mobile homes on top of each other. There is a pretty little port below on the lake, where you can hire canoes, kayaks or motor boats, and have a tour of the lake and the canyon (very cold, and you can't swim because of the dam) but in any case, it's very calm and pleasant.

You can buy still-warm bread and croissants every morning at the shop, where the shopkeeper is very kind. On the other hand, at reception it's not worth asking much, especially of the girls, as one gets the impression that you're annoying them.

I understand that there should be a new rule covering the spacing of mobile homes in 2010. With that, the site will be perfect.

I stayed at the Coteau de la Marine, and I cannot agree with the reviews above. For may part, I had occasion to meet the manager, who was very pleasant and accommodating, well in touch with the problems that his clients might encounter. Also the staff at reception were pleasant and smiling. The setting is magnificent. I discovered this region - I had never been before, and I was transfixed. As for the campsite itself, it's very friendly, and there is a good atmosphere. As for the restaurant, you can eat very well there, the staff is friendly, and the chef makes really delicious dishes. I also appreciated the efficiency of the process that resolves problems (gas etc) very quickly, with staff very helpful and available. I really appreciated my stay here, and will certainly return.

The Coteau de la Marine has a reviving air, especially if your mobile home happens to be near to the water works...

The site is lit: false: only one light in the campsite, the top of the pinewood has no lights that work. So remember your torch.

The welcome was excellent, and the receptionists were helpful.

The entertainment was plentiful and varied, but the entertainments team lacked a bit of organisation, as there were some last minute cancellations, without any notice.

Most often, the activities took place at the snack-bar, sorry, restaurant. Those directed at teenagers were from 10:30 to midnight.

And there was dancing every evening. The whole area danced, even the cicadas, if you know what I mean.

The kids club was near to the two tennis courts, the entertainers are very good, and the children rehearse a show that is never the same each week.

The teenager's club is at the entrance of the site, in a mobile home in full sun... they too prepare a show, but this is the same each week.

There are two free tennis courts (but you have to pay a deposit) is a poor state, especially court 1. Beware your ankles on account of the holes.

The pool is ok, on the other hand the toilets and showers are often dirty, even though they've been cleaned (people's cleanliness and respect is legendary...) The lifeguard is uncouth, rarely even has a "hello", especially in the morning, except for the young girls.

As for doing the shopping, you have the choice of the mini-shop on site, or making a trip of 15km to Riez.

In conclusion, I don't think this site deserves more than 3 stars.

We've just come back from a 2-week stay at this campsite. We were not disappointed: calm, clean mobile home, friendly staff, fresh bread at the mini-market. It was our first stay, and if all goes well, we plan to return next year. Oh, and I was forgetting, the setting is magnificent.

Disappointed by this campsite, which is too far from the shops. The activities are always the same, and most surprising at all, a lifeguard supposed to be watching over the pool, sees children that can not swim well, offers them swimming lessons, and at the end of the session, we are surprised to find that the 30-minute lesson is billed at €20. Scandalous! Nothing written, of course, so this is black market cash. So my advice: avoid this campsite.

We hired a mobile home at this campsite for a week.

The pool, no way is it outdated, is very well supervised. The staff, very friendly, welcomed us well.

It is true that the evening entertainment is fairly noisy (until midnight).

For those who like to stay on the site, it is true that there is always something to do: activities and games all day (even in the pool) pedalo hire, canoes, etc.

But for those who like to go out and about (like us) it is too necessary to take the car, as, like someone said, it is a long way from anywhere. Especially from the lake of St Croix, and from the magnificent villages, which are at least 10km away.

What you must know is that the campsite is nothing like the earlier reviews above - you can go there without fear!

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We went here in August 2007 for a fortnight, and even though things have undoubtedly improved, this site in no way deserves its 4 stars. We often go to 4-star campsites, and neither services offered, nor the pitch were up to the price quoted. Mobile home was badly placed, and with a very small terrace, restaurant was more like a snack bar, pool was too small, and the water smelt bad, depressing children's club (a little patch of ground, with a few garden tables) tennis at extra cost, activities no better than average.

For us at least, you can be sure we will not be returning at this price. On the other hand, we are prepared to give you the addresses of other campsites, that deserve their 4 stars!

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We spent 2 weeks here in August. The room of the restaurant has never been washed, only swept. The welcome is really very cold. The pool has no proper lifeguard, but the person who was there had a t-shirt saying he was a lifeguard - spot the mistake. He preferred being paid cash in hand for his courses. Good luck to future visitors.

Hello, I’ve been to this campsite three years in a row, and although someone said that there had been a change of management, we’ve seen no improvement. Honestly, apart from the setting and the view, I’d have trouble calling this a campsite. Very, very, very noisy. The pool is not very clean, and the so-called lifeguard, who sleeps outside at the pool, is more interested by the young ladies than by what is going on in real life in the pool. The mobile homes, like everywhere, are stacked as tightly as possible, profit assured.

I learnt when I went to another local site that this one had been closed down in 2008. That’s no surprise, given the customer service.

I find that the first reviews are a bit excessive, the only real negative point that I noticed was the entertainment. For me, the noise wasn't the problem, but rather the quality.

The campsite being very isolated and rural, for the young ones it is very difficult, even impossible, to go out and find something to do in the way of discos, bars, etc, so the only solution is to go to the site entertainment, which is not at all suited to their needs. Only positive point: the disco. Unfortunately, the music is not, hmm, superb. From the 80s, funk, rap, etc.

But apart from that, the campsite is very pleasant, peaceful despite what people above have said, in very nice scenery. The staff is very friendly, and there's a good atmosphere.

I therefore recommend this site to people looking for peace and quiet (indeed, I'm sorry, but with the size of the site, there is little chance of ending up next to the entertainment and the disco, and I didn't find the noise excessive when trying to sleep) but on the other hand, people who prefer lots to do, - there are indeed few youngsters about.

I spent a fortnight at this campsite, and I was not disappointed. On site is a mini-market where you can do your shopping without having to go to Riez, the closest town. You can get French bread right up to 8pm. The mobile home we had was quite new, with a terrace and garden furniture. We also made use of the pool, and the restaurant, where the meals were well served.

Hello, we hesitated for a long time having read the reviews above. It's no fun travelling 1200km with a child of 2 years. You want the truth: I find the reviews excessive. I spent a magnificent fortnight here. The toilet blocks are cleaned twice a day, there is entertainment almost every evening, the food is delicious, and the prices very reasonable. What's more the site is very peaceful - I have never yet found a site as calm as this one. It's true that there is evening entertainment, but if you go on holiday in order to go to bed at 9pm, I suggest you stay at home under the duvet.

Now when the first reviewers went, it had a different owner. Perhaps they should try it again: some things have changed, and others are still changing.

Thank you for your welcome, and for your kindness.

I've just come back from holidays at this campsite, and I would like to moderate the earlier advice concerning la Coteau de la Marine. The change of owners seems to have greatly improved the management of the campsite. The welcome is good. The pool also. Access is now from the outside (and it's true that the inside showers are limited). The mobile homes are in a good state, and have been reequipped (microwave, patio).

It is true that the pitches close to reception are noisy. But the music stops around midnight. This campsite is ideal for peaceful holidays, surrounded by fields of lavender (harvesting at the moment). The drawbacks:

- The distance from the lake of St Croix, where it is possible to bathe (10km). You have to take the car for bathing and for shopping, as you are far from everything.

- Although you are beside the water, bathing is forbidden in the Verdon. What's more, positioned between two dams, the water is very cold because of the release of water.

Having spent a good holiday there, I heartily recommend it.

Louise

We spent our last holidays at this campsite, and it was super !

The site has belonged to the group Village Center since last spring.

The mobile home was new, with all mods cons (microwave, electric cafétière, large fridge and small freezer).

Our pitch was spacious and shady.

The staff as a whole was friendly, you could get everything you needed at the shop on-site if you didn't want to go in to Riez. In the restaurant, the atmosphere was good, and at midnight, lights-out.

The pool is clean, and the water area provides electric boats, canoes and pedaloes to hire, which was all very pleasant.

In summary, very pleasant place for peaceful family holidays.

It's with the greatest of pleasure that we will be repeating our hire at the Coteau de la Marine in 2008. We were very warmly welcomed by Homair Vacance (bungalow) and by all the team at the campsite. The children loved the setting and the very friendly activity leaders. Courses in salsa, hip-hop, fitness activities in the morning with a great aqua-gym teacher from 11am to noon. Guided walk around the Verdon, themed evening every night. Good food at reasonable prices. Mini-supermarket useful only in emergency, as it was very expensive. The lake of St Croix, 5km away, is really magnificent, not many people, and very cool. If you love nature and peace, it's for you. In any case, for our first experience of camping, it was brilliant. Bungalow was well equipped, very clean, and well shaded.

Hello,

Analysing these reviews, I think that certain people would do well to stay and sweep their front step, rather than venture onto a campsite. Perfection has never existed, and they would do better to learn appropriateness, diplomacy, and above all tolerance.

This campsite is in a magnificent setting on the banks of lake Montpezat, and even if you can't bathe there, some campers have the good fortune of waking to the rising of the sun over the lake.

Fishermen have food on tap, finding fresh fish to cook for their family.

Electric boats, pedalos and canoes are available for a reasonable price, to discover the deep gorges of the Verdon. A magnificent trip on a stretch of water that changes colour with the weather.

Peace and beauty...

In the evenings, entertainment, more joy!

One goes on holiday to be able to relax, but also to be able to celebrate. Entertainment finishes around midnight or 1am, so what?

Those who don't want the noise should not choose a 4-star site. They should find a 2-star, or even a site without stars, to save being disturbed by the noise. And still, I think that this sort of person would be able to complain about the mosquitoes that come to tickle their ears.

An activity team is on hand to take care of the children from 4 to 10 years, and a teen club organises tournaments.

It's true that it's 10-15km to a village with banks and big shops, but there's a mini-market on site which gets you out of a fix with all sorts of products, and everyone is very welcoming.

In summary, look at what's going on in the world at the moment that you're on holiday, and recognise your good fortune in being where you are. And you'll see that these big problems become trivial.

Never forget respect for your neighbour.

And above all, wherever you go on holiday, never forget that you are on holiday. Peace and patience are two key words.

Thank you,

Almasa

This campsite has changed management; a group with a good reputation ("Centre Village") has taken over the management. This is only their first season, and already a significant improvement is apparent, and they have more plans...

We have known this campsite for 17 years, and the prospects for the future are very good.

Things that have already improved in these first 2 months:

1. The general cleanliness of the site

2. the pool and its surroundings (it's no longer necessary to go via the basement to get to the pool, there's a footbath that deserves the name, and sunbeds and parasols have been installed around the pool).

3. Reception planted with flowers

4. Access to the pool is now possible for people with mobility problems

5. Restaurant prices much more reasonable, and much more pleasant service

6. New franchisee for the water activities, with prices in line with those of the region, and much more pleasant staff

7. Management is much more friendly, and no longer holds private parties into the small hours, disturbing the whole site

Hello! I went to the Coteau de la Marine for the weekend of 1st May. I already knew the campsite, having spent some good holidays there. It's true, Mr Anon, that the site has had a change of owner; charming people welcomed us equally at reception, at the restaurant, and at the little grocery. We had an excellent weekend, and it's certain we'll spend our summer holidays there; the area is truly magnificent, the mobile homes right in amongst the nature, and the Verdon at the foot of the site.

I agree totally with Véro Lechien, especially on the subject of entertainment. We were in a mobile home quite close to reception, and for a campsite that announces in its publicity "calm and relaxed", and which at the entrance demands that there is no noise after 11pm, well it's far from that. And the owner is an unpleasant man.

I can confirm that the entertainment started at 10:45,and it was impossible to sleep until 1:30. We had chosen Verdon specifically to avoid the noise and the crowds of the coast, and we were very disappointed.

What's more, the organised evenings are very expensive. A portion of potted duck or piece of lamb, plus a cornetto, without drinks for €15...

As for the equipment of the site, it deserves only 3 stars, no way 4.

In 34 years of camping, I have never seen the like! The campsite Les Coteaux de la Marine is nothing like a 4-star campsite. And my reasons (see also the photos):

1: Their Internet site informs us of the presence of a "base nautique". Having a small boat, we therefore thought we'd be able to put it on the water, and benefit from some outings on the Verdon and be able to swim. It was when we were asking how to go about launching it, that we learnt that swimming was forbidden, and small boats were forbidden. Instead of the expected water facilities, we found some pedalos! No sign warned of the prohibition against swimming. It was only along the bank, further along the road, that a sign stated this prohibition. The site really should make this clear, otherwise their publicity is lying.

2: Access to the pool is via an air-lock for shoes. This area seriously lacks hygiene, the tiling is muddy as soon as 10am, and apparently no one has been given the task of mopping it up.

3: As for the pool itself, one could note the dilapidation of the pools, especially the paddling pool (vinyl facing coming unstuck, slide not well fixed, in our opinion). As for supervision, it is very limited, and the result is total anarchy, teenagers reigning supreme. There is no separate area allocated, nor any clear rules about jumping, running etc.

4: Reception is open from 9am (Saturday 8am). In view of the fact that access to the campsite is by means of a magnetic card (deposit €10), when you want to leave, you have to wait until 9am to get your €10 back (because the barrier won't open without the card). In high season, it is not unusual to set off at 8am, as it's cooler, and less busy. Need I say we weren't the only ones waiting?

5: Payment: I have never seen a campsite where you have to pay for the whole of your stay when you arrive. So whatever happens, you're stuck for the number of days originally booked. One of the advantages of camping is the liberty to travel. In view of our daily discoveries, we could have chosen to leave earlier, but we had paid! It wasn't for a bungalow, but for a tent pitch.

6: Activities: Well this was the worst! Very noisy entertainment starts at 1045pm, only closing down between 1 and 1:30 am! When you arrive at the campsite, a sign asks you to not make any noise after 11pm. But the disco goes on till 1am, so in any case there's no chance of sleeping without earplugs. But it would be very easy to sort out the night-time activities for the teenagers; the football pitch is situated away from the centre of the campsite, facing the countryside, and would be a very suitable place to allow intergenerational living.

In conclusion, it is incomprehensible that this campsite has gained 4 stars. The only positive point is the cleanliness of the toilet facilities, but at this level, this should be expected.

Our holidays were a success, but certainly not because of the campsite.

I went to the Coteau de la Marine in June 2005, and we were very disappointed. I don't think it deserves its 4 stars: the welcome was poor, and what's more, the owner put on a private party for his friends, welcome all-night noise for us campers. One positive point, the mobile homes were good.

I worked for two seasons in this campsite, being responsible for the clients of the company Sudhome, which ceased trading in 2008.

It’s true that the manager at this time concentrated more on having a good time with his “friends” (of which I was one) than managing the business (which belonged to his wife).

The maintenance team was efficient, whatever anyone says.

The little shop was well organised, and certainly well stocked.

The pool could have been better equipped.

The restaurant changed completely in 2004. The chef at the time (a lady) was very competent and you could eat well there.

Overall, the campsite ran well, but did not deserve its 4th star.

We were very disappointed with this campsite, which had 4 stars, especially with the toilet block (very old). There were not enough showers, and what's more, they cleaned them at the very moment when everyone wanted to use them. Hello queue. As for the entertainments, a big fat zero. Nothing for the children. And the pool, let's not speak about it. You had to go down stairs, past the toilets, to wash your feet in a sticky footbath. I think our feet carried more bacteria afterwards.

The only positive thing is the little harbour with access direct to the Verdon, and the view that one gets from the campsite. That's where they get their stars.

Lots of people were complaining about the toilet block.
