Stayed at the 'Parkdean' Southerness site for a week in Aug 2005 & was not very impressed, we have stayed at other Parkdean sites & was under the impression that this would be up to the same standard.
Entertainment staff were very 'lack lustre' in their enthusiasm, entertainers were mostly singers who you'd see down the local working men's club, nothing to shout about.
Worst thing about this site was the catering facilities which are WAY too small for a site this size, only one proper restaurant with about a dozen tables, which require booking should you wish to dine there, personally I don't like to run my holiday around a schedule. Saying that, there are a few good pubs within walking distance that offer good food at reasonable prices that seem to thrive off the campers.
Site itself is right on the beach but is full of shells so is quite sharp underfoot; areas that are not full of shells are covered in litter from the tides or remains of barbeques.
Would possibly consider returning as we have friends in the area, but would probably choose another site, if I was returning to Southerness I would take a lot more food & prepare to eat in the caravan.
Caravans by the way were excellent, very clean, new & well equipped.
