Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We booked this campsite 2 weeks in advance to stay at before the races at Oulton Park.

I was asked for the £7.00 per tents (not £6.00 as on website) immediately and sent up to a field by the owner without any further instructions.

I could see a portaloo in the corner of the field but as the website advertised toilet and shower we had not brought anything to heat water with.

I wandered over to the Main Farmhouse to find it unoccupied. A guest staying in a caravan told me there was a wash room round the back. I went round but all the doors were locked.

I eventually found a lady who said the owner was in her caravan so I went to see him and asked about having a wash later in the evening and a shower in the morning.

He told me I couldn't, and I questioned him as to the wash room and he said it was "broken".

I explained that the three of us would just like a wash before bed and in the morning, as I knew there would have been facilities in the Bed and Breakfast, as I had seen some of the other guests.

The farmer refused and I left to tell my friends. On the way I could see some of the other guests, their electricity kept going off as the farm only had electricity for 3 caravans and there were several more on site.

The other guests said they had had the same attitude from the farmer about the electricity.

I was very disappointed and upset at the farmer’s attitude and annoyed that there was no access to any hot water. It rained all night and was freezing and not only did I catch a cold it was unhygienic.

There was no apology and no money back. We called the day before to confirm the booking and were not warned of any problems, nor when we arrived.

We went to speak to the farmer in the morning but again no answer from the farmhouse door.
