This is a small, quiet and level family campsite for tents and caravans. It is just on the outskirts of Malmesbury, a very pretty market town in Wiltshire. In fact it is a 10-minute walk to the town centre with plenty of shops and pubs, which is handy as there is no shop on site. Don't be put off by the entrance to this site - through a small estate of houses and static caravans. We stayed over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May. The site was full (booking is essential) and as the pitches, both for tents and caravans, are rather small, it did feel quite packed. We stayed in the overflow field, which gave a bit more room, but the owners did not enforce a gap between tents. We went out for the day and came back to find a family had set up their tent so close to ours they could not get the guy ropes out! Having said that the site is VERY clean and tidy. There are only 2 showers and 4 toilets for women and the same for men. There is a disabled/family shower room as well. The water was hot and plentiful, the water pressure was a bit low. The only time there was a queue for facilities was first thing in the morning. If you were prepared to be a bit flexible you had them to your self, even though the site was full. I would highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a well-run site, near to a town and modern conveniences. If you want a more back to nature, out in the wilds type of place, then it probably is not for you.
