Dear reader,
After reading all your comments, we are happy to announce, at the end of 2011, a change in the management of the Cyprès at St Gilles Croix de Vie. We will welcome you with great pleasure for your next stay, and we will do all that we can to ensure that previous mishaps do not recur.
Once it's finished, we invite you to visit our website at www.camping-lescypres85.com, but in the meantime, you can visit the site of our second campsite at Talmont St Hilaire: www.camping-leparadis85.com.
The whole team at the Cyprès wish you a very happy New Year 2012.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

We were in a mobile home with a baby, and it was very old and dirty. The service at the bar was poor (you had to pay for a smile). The pool was poorly heated, so it was cold. Access to the beach was not easy with a toddler. The shop: don't bank on doing all your shopping here. Entertainment not much better. The only positive point is the food.

There's not much to criticise.
Arrived 6 August 2011, and the pitch was not bad.
On the other hand, we had to wait at the toilet blocks to wash.
The playgrounds were super for the children.
The outside pool was a bit cold, even in the sun, and it would be handy to have a clock outside.
The evenings are very varied. The food from the snack bar was super, especially the pizzas. With a warm welcome and a devoted staff ready for any situation.

Stayed in a mobile home at the beginning of July 2010. Very welcoming campsite, very clean, with just the right amount of entertainment, without being invasive.
Very peaceful, and safe for children.
Snacks and bar service is faultless, and at a reasonable price.
Family-friendly campsite.

We spent a week in a tent at this site in August 2009, and it’s one of the best we have had.
Lots of entertainment, a very good atmosphere, magnificent sunsets, a area of mobile homes, but above all an exceptional area for tents, well shaded, and 400m from the beach.
Good pool, and generally clean toilet blocks.
The bonus is that you have a large supermarket really close, and the centre of St Gilles as well.
Campsite recommended, and not too expensive, at least as far as the pitch price is concerned.

A week in a mobile home in July 2008.
The booking and the welcome were nothing to do with the campsite, but with Vacances-Direct, no problem there, excellent in every respect.
For the campsite itself, it’s worth noting that those who expect it to be like Ibiza have got the wrong place.
The setting is shady, calm, friendly, clean. The pitches are well laid out and quite large, there is little overlooking. The beach is lovely, though access to it is a bit energetic, especially on the return, as 600m in sand makes the legs drag a bit (you’ll need a drink to recover). The pools are superb, you’re not there for a competition, so they’re fine as they are, there’s even a paddling pool for the little ones, and a Jacuzzi for the adults, and lovely terraces for sunbathing. The toilets looked well maintained, but having a mobile home means I can’t comment further. In the evenings (you’ll need a jumper, or at least a strong drink) everything is peaceful, despite the entertainment in the bar, which does not make itself heard everywhere, and which finishes fairly early, and there is a warden to check that it stays that way, asking people still about after 10pm to remain quiet. Quite near (about 4km) are all the big shops, easy by bike or car. Nice walks available on well constructed paths.

We had a lovely holiday here and would stay there again, though some of the facilities could be better.
The campsite is located in woods right by the dunes, so that it is an easy walk over the dunes to an uncrowded beach. The site is also well shaded by trees. It was quiet where we were pitched, near the back gate, though it would have been noisier near the bar. The pitch was a good size but sandy and uneven. Some pitches looked quite small. There is a small indoor pool and a nice outdoor pool, though both were a bit cold. Near the bar they served excellent food in the evening to eat there or take away.
The toilets were clean but did not have seats. The showers were nice and warm but there were occasional queues. There is a shop where you can buy baguettes and other essentials but you are not far from a large hypermarket. We had some difficulties with the electrics despite being prepared for reverse polarity. We had to try several sockets before my socket tester confirmed correct polarity, and even with a 25 m extension it was a stretch.
We had some magical evenings walking onto the dunes to watch the sunset over the Atlantic as a full moon was rising, then walking back to the sound of thousands of crickets.
In summary, a fantastic location for people who do not like crowded resorts, and although the facilities could have been better, we plan to stay there again next year.
