The site is great as are the staff. They cater for everything. I was able to buy everything from the very local supermarket including egg and chips. The sea is very nice and my kids got wet in it. All in all I would go back. I loved how near the shops were so that we could buy food and other articles of interest.

I have stayed at this campsite many times over recent years, generally in July or in May.
It’s a pleasant campsite, despite the fact that it hasn’t changed much over the years. Nonetheless, it is very well located, with direct access to the shops at les Marines, and to the beach only 350m away. However, I feel that the pool complex at the Clarys Plage is getting really past it, especially compared with other campsites I jhave stayed at in this area (notably les Genêts and l’Acapulco). The water slides are dated, and are rather small. The bar and takeaway has also aged, and needs something of a renewal, despite the owners changing parts of the décor each year. The sports field is limited to a sandy area, with a football goal and a basketball basket. In other sites, you can find proper multisports areas, with much better facilities. As for activities, I feel they’re also rather limited. There’s no programme given out when you start your stay, and the evening entertainment is repetitive, and not very popular with the clientele, which means there is little atmosphere. As for the pitches, and the campsite itself, you could say this is well equipped. The pitches are of a good size, and fairly well shaded (except those in the newer part of the site, where the trees are still young). The toilet blocks distributed around the site are very good, except for one block that needs renovation. There is a strong foreign presence in the campsite, in view of the large majority of mobile homes and pre-erected tents managed by British and Irish tour operators such as Hello France, Canvas, Keycamp, …
Overall, I find this campsite a pleasant one, even though my review is more critical than flattering, but it suffers from a lack of updates, which tends to send you to the competition, who offer more modern and up to date facilities.

Magnificent stay at the Clarys Plage campsite. Very pretty pool complex, very active and lively bar, with well-groomed attentive staff, lovely pitches and organised activities.

We stayed in this campsite in 2008. We have been visiting the Vendée for about six years. This is an excellent site its very beautifully kept with many activities, teenagers are also well catered for. There are many campsites along this road, that lead to the small village of Les Mouettes but La Clarys Plage is by far the highest standard of them all. There is a large supermarket about 300 metres from the site where you can get your needs very handily and at a good price. There is a great beach about 500 metres from La Clarys Plage in Les Mouettes and a 20 minute cycle will take you to the big resort of St Jean de Monts and has an even better beach. Actually hiring a bike is a brilliant way to see the area, our boys adored the cycling. Nearby you can visit the lovely town of St Gilles Croix de Vie, Apremont, Les Sables de O'Lonne. For a cracking day out visit the Grand Parc Puy De Fou about 1 and 1/2 hour drive. What a place!! On the down side there is a union jack short brigade that is becoming more and more prevalent which I think lowers the tone somewhat. But that would be splitting hairs. Overall the Vendee has it all for holidaying. Sunshine, beaches, cycling routes, loads of sporting activities.

Le Clarys Plage is a terrific campsite with children of all ages being the focus. The pool complex is ideal for all ages and our 3&5 year old girls loved it. The site is ideally placed for the beach etc, but take the car to St Gilles for an excellent beach and St Jean itself for a real "holiday" destination. Back on site the bar/takeway was always busy but very friendly. The entertainment wasn't always up to scratch but always drew a crowd. The shower blocks are modern and very clean, the pitches seemed to have just the right amount of privacy and everyone on site seemed really friendly. It is primarily Brits on the site so if you are looking for more multi lingual camp mates this isn't your site. However, for the first dip into the French camping holiday, it is brilliant.

This campsite is quite simply magnificent. Exceptional and refined (fountains, statues illuminated at night, roman columns in different buildings of the site…), location absolutely perfect (supermarket 50m, beach 350m, night-time funfair 800m, restaurant and bars 50m, crazy golf 50m), superb pool complex (9 slides, 2 pools, waterfalls, Jacuzzi), a very good playground and several sports fields, and very peaceful, well shaded pitches, added to its reasonable size (414 pitches) and you get Clarys Plage, an absolutely perfect 4-star campsite at St Jean de Monts.
