My friend and I booked this campsite as the website advertised a nice, family oriented site with great facilities both for children and adults alike. Unfortunately on arrival at the site this was not the case.

When we first got there we were met by who seemed a very nice, pleasant lady on reception. She told us our pitch and how to get there and we then went to pitch our tent. The first thing we noticed was that the pitch was very near the road which at times could get very busy (not a good start for the children as you had to cross it to get to the playground - which I might add had no safety mats etc underneath. We were warned by the couple camping next to us that they had already witnessed children getting injured on it.) So the kids were constantly running across the road hence you could not relax.

The next thing that happened - well these group of teenagers had pitched on another field higher up than us and were playing very loud music. The lady who had met us on reception promptly came and told US!!! to turn down the music. We explained we had none playing (well she must need her hearing checked) and said it was people further up the field. She marched off and told them to turn it OFF!!!! in the middle of the DAY!!! She came back to us and started fussing over the children then and asked me if I thought she was being unreasonable. I said the music didn't bother us and off she went.

My friend's mum had brought some things down in her car and was going to stay the night (she was not charged for this but was asked to move her car ro the carpark and ordered to pay another £2 for the extra vehicle). She stayed the night and once the kids were in bed we stayed up chatting over a few drinks (we weren't very loud either.) The next morning the same lady came and told us we were too NOISY!!!. She then noticed wet towels hanging on the guy ropes of the tent (you are not allowed washing lines you have to pay for the launderette) and asked us if we had found the laundry yet - another dig.

The rest of the day and night passed without incident but the next night we were asked to turn the TV down AGAIN!!!!!. By this time we were getting quite annoyed because it seemed like you couldn't breathe and they liked you to go to bed the same time as the kids.

It was raining quite heavily and the tent was getting quite sodden and muddy. The lady asked me to move my car to the carpark in case it got stuck on the grass (fair point) and we went down and asked for boards to put under the groundsheet. Her husband obliged and went to get us some boards and said if we need any more just to ask.

The next day the mud was getting just too bad so my friend went and asked the lady if we could have some more boards. She was met with a very frosty reception and got told 'What do you expect me to do about it? - I will ask him when he comes back but I'm not promising anything". In the meantime I had seen him and he said he would have a look. An hour passed and he drove passed and said he hadn't forgotten about us. We had decided to move the tent by that point anyway and when he did come back with another board he helped us move the tent.

That night the kids went to bed as usual and we stayed up and got a little bit drunk, had the TV on etc, someone came up to the tent and told us to shut up. The next morning the by now very frosty lady came up to the tent and said she wanted a word. She said she had had complaints and people had slept in the car (that I do not believe). She accused us of being up until four in the morning when in fact it was no later than about 1.30 am. She then went to get the manager. The manager came over and the way he spoke to us was DISGUSTING!!!!! He said we had to leave, I said fair enought but you will have to wait till Sunday (when we were leaving anyway) because we couldn't fit everything in the car. He then said he was going to kick us off earlier in the week (what for I don't know) and if he heard one MURMUR!!! he would kick us off that night. Then he proceeded to accuse us of not apologising to the other guests. I said maybe we were lound last night but we hadn't been any other, and he admitted we weren't then. Then we said other people had been making a racket and he said we were just blaming them and we were making things worse and implied we shouldn't be drinking!!!!! He also said we needed BABYSITTING every night!!! He was a very unpleasant man.

The next morning there was a dig about the rubbish so that was it we had had enough and actually moved to another campsite anyway for the last night.

The facilities were rubbish - the restaurant was closed, bar was rubbish NO entertainment for the children just a few games over the bar. The games room advertised was poky with arcade machines and just a load of loud foul mouthed teenagers in there, toilets and showers were filthy, the skip was at the entrance to the site with a long steep hike to get to it.

I would advise anyone with young children or people liking a laugh and a joke outside the tent with a few drinks to avoid this site like the plague!! There are some very friendly and cheaper sites with better facilities just down the road closer to the beach. If you are one of those people who likes to go to bed at 10.00pm and not have a laugh then this site would definitely be for you.

There is no need to be overly loud at night but you can't even TALK!! watch TV or play the radio even very quietly after 10.00. Also beware 12.30am spot on the warden is on the prowl!!!
