Independent Campsite Reviews

We booked this campsite via their website months in advance, and had confirmation back from them. On arrival we were told that no booking was held as they do not make firm bookings for tents, as they like to assess the guest in person first! The area we were shown to put up our tent had a fantastic view. Unfortunately it is also a very exposed spot, not at all suitable for tents. There is only one small shower block for the entire site, green growing up the shower walls and hot water in short supply. One wheelie bin accessible for the whole site which was overflowing and surrounded by rubbish. The rate charged was double quoted on their website (now removed), and we were then charged for an additional night. When we firstly questioned the difference in price we were told (very aggressively) to leave if we did not like it, and then when we requested a refund for the additional night overcharged, the owner asked my husband if would like to settle the matter outside! We just laughed and walked away. These are just some of the points that went a long way to ruin our trip. We have stayed in campsites all around the world and never experienced anything like this. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!
