Just got back from a four night stay at Azu Rivage, I booked this site as I was struggling to make alternative bookings and they, kindly were able to take the booking. The site is typically tightly packed in and pitches are on a mixture of earth and sand.
Reception staff were fine and helpful- if a little slow.
My main three issues with this site are as follows;
1. the site has rules regarding noise stating silence from 10pm til 7am. I did not expect this to be adhered to but the snack bar/pizza restaurant (which is immediately out of the campsite gates) featured entertainment on two of the four nights. this would have been fine but the entertainment didn't start till 9.30 and went on way beyond midnight on both occasions.
2.The toilet facilities are not cleaned sufficiently or often enough, resulting in them being dirty and smelling of urine at all times. (note for English campers- the toilets are mostly french style holes in the ground for squatting over!)
3. the life guard at the pool seemed to think he was in fact the pool police, they insist on speedo's and showering before use - fair enough. Their Gaff, Their rules. but they weren't consistent with their rules. No balls well okay maybe for a bit... No suncream, when you have children and its 30c, then i'm sorry I will be breaking the rules.
It was not a bad location set in the forest of the Landes and 30 mins from cap Breton, but for 42euro a night for a basic camping pitch ( no electric) I'm not overly impressed.
Shop staff on site was very helpful but eye wateringly expensive.
Okay if you can't find anything else.

This campsite, which used to be a municipal site, has been given to a private manager, so its future is uncertain. It does not warrant the criticisms by Catheland. It’s a family campsite, peaceful and friendly. It’s true that the reception leaves a little to be desired. Catheland must have hired a mobile home from the campsite itself, but there are some hired out by private owners. At the current date, I repeat that the campsite itself does not warrant such criticism.

Hello,
Indeed, the management of this campsite is no longer municipal, but private. There remains a great deal of work to be done to justify the three stars.
Worth noting that the manager in charge of reception has not changed!
Contrary to what has been written earlier, no entertainment is provided for teenagers, and apart from the weekly pétanque competition, nothing for adults either.
In summary, there are better sites in the area, and no more expensive.

This campsite is pleasant, but the reception is not brilliant (it depends on who you happen to get). Plan for a rabies vaccination for your pets (which has not been mandatory on campsites since Jan 2008): I booked via the web, and this obligation was not mentioned anywhere on their site!
The toilet blocks still have squat toilets, and they’re not always very clean.
Super welcome at the ‘cabanon’, the little snack/restaurant at the campsite entrance.
As for the lake, it’s very clean, but reserved for sailing, windsurfing etc.

I have spent many years going on holiday to that certain area and the lake is as clean as a lake is going to be, so man up and have a swim in it, everyone else does and if you wanted perfect clean water, swim in the pool.

Family campsite with a beautiful pool, spacious pitches, clean washrooms, every nationality, and the youth mixes well.
Campfire every night at a hut in the forest.
There is a night watchman.
With children of 15 and 17, this is our

Having spent a fortnight in August at this 3-star campsite, for a total of €800, we noted certain things. For a start, on arrival, we noticed that this is a municipal campsite, although this is not mentioned in any publicity (website or brochures). Reception takes just 5 minutes. We noticed afterwards that the folding cot for my daughter would not fit in either of the two rooms, although I had mentioned this at the time of reservation. We were told to remove the bed that was in the way, and leave it outside. We had rain for a week, and the bed was still outside - it didn't bother anyone! (even though there was a store nearby for bulky material). After one night spent as well as could be expected (with a wonky bed) we found that the bed was broken. We notified the management (which was in fact just a municipal worker that ran the campsite). The response was "we'll phone the owner". While waiting, we spent another 2 nights on a broken bed! The hose for the shower was patched, so after 3 showers it broke. The inventory had clearly not been done, as we were also missing blankets, cutlery, glasses and knives! In the documentation, you see a lake, but it is impossible to bathe in it, as it is so dirty. The washing machines do not get hot! The pool is open according to the whim of the management. The daily activities for the children ended up being weekly. The only positive point for this so-called 3-star campsite, was the tranquillity.
