This was the first time I had been to this campsite, and I will definitely be returning next year at Easter.

The owners are welcoming, and we were in one of the mobile homes that had been newly purchased.

Everything was perfect.

The pool was 27 degrees, the flowering trees, the birds singing… A tranquil campsite at the heart of nature. There is everything you need to have a relaxing stay in the heart of this lovely region.

The reviews I have read are really not justified, and I invite everyone who, like me, has been satisfied, to make it known so that this campsite gets the positive reviews it deserves.

I’ve been going to this campsite for 15 years, and my wife since 1980. Clearly, there are good and bad points. However, I would point out that a campsite is not a 4-star hotel, rather a contact with nature.

It’s true that the site has recently changed owner, and that these owners have radically changed their lives. Leave them some time to take up the reins of the site, which not always a simple task, given the difficult behaviour and bad will of some clients.

This year, they’ve opened a pool, and there are grumpy clients who are incapable of respecting a rule: no shorts in the pool (but 2 out of three were wearing them). So here, I can verify the bad temper of the owner, and I support him.

Some people complain of activities at extra cost, ok, but not this year (2009), on the contrary, a cocktail quiz was organised, every week, and I can’t complain as I won 5 out of 6 over the course of my holidays, though a bit more competition would have been good.

The children adored their mornings, thanks to Marina and Rémy.

Oh yes, and I’m forgetting the bingo sessions, where you could win a week’s free holiday in a mobile home. That gave us some good moments.

Remember that people are always more prepared to write and complain than they are to praise good service.

This site does not fulfil the promises made on its website.

The owners have just taken on this 3 star campsite, and after a fortnight there, we don't think it deserves 3 stars. We hired a "bungalow toilé" [a sort of tent with a more rigid and permanent construction] for the "modest sum" of €410 per week. We had a water leak, and the management did not seem to be at all concerned by our plight. We needed to ask for cloths to mop it up.

The "bungalow toilé" is a compromise between the canvas of a tent and a mobile home. We thought we would spend our holidays dry, but unfortunately not.

The most disappointing is that the owners are not close to their clients. You arrive, and the make you pay for the whole of your stay up front.

The maintenance of the toilet blocks leaves something to be desired.

Normally, we camp in a tent in the Ardèche, and after a night of rain, the owners go round the site to see their clients, even if there's nothing they can do, there is at least human contact.

Hello,

I myself reserved a pitch at the Castel Rose campsite by Internet, for a 7.3m motor home from 1 to 16 August. The pitch was too small, we could hardly get the motor home onto it, though the owners had assured me that the pitch was 100m2, which was not true. We asked to change pitch, but the owners refused aggressively, so we decided to leave, though there was no possibility of a refund. I wrote a letter to the ‘service des fraudes' at Nîmes, who replied that an enquiry was to be held, as they had had several complaints about the site. What's more, they re-let our pitch, though they had no right to do so. I complained to the local ‘bureau de juges' for the refund of what I had paid.

If others were at this campsite at this time, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you.

We've been going to the Castel Rose for 6 years. Previously, it was superb, it was clean, the owners paid attention to us, the campers, we weren't just pitch numbers that brought in the cash, there was a good atmosphere, entertainment, and a good restaurant with reasonable prices and a real chef for the last 3 years.

This year, the restaurant is the only thing that is still good. No entertainment in the evening, except for paid extras. The owners can hardly bother to say hello. The toilet blocks are disgusting, and likewise the green spaces. I'll be changing campsite this year, and going to join friends at Les Fauvettes, which is just 5 minut
