Beautifully maintained site. Visited one night at beginning and one night at the end of our holiday, so experienced both good and bad weather.

The pool complex is fantastic and inviting even on a rainy day in September.

Look forward to returning

I paid ¤960 for a week in a 6-berth chalet, and for this price the chalet was very good and comfortable, but the campsite was not brilliant. No entertainment, no club for French kids. Clientele was primarily English and Dutch, so when you approached a member of staff, they spoke to you in English, before realising that they should revert to French. The bar and restaurant were not open at midday. With the children, we could only stay a week, due to the cost of the chalet, and were very disappointed to have not had as good a holiday as we expected.

Stayed 2 weeks here in late August, in site owned accommodation. First thoughts on arrival - nicely presented site, reception very charming and efficient. This was borne out during our stay - always at least 2 people cleaning the pool area every morning, nicely maintained garden areas around the site and high levels of ongoing maintenance. Our mobile home was spotlessly clean with a lovely large wooden terrace on a very large pitch.

Our children loved the pools and slides, the heated covered pool being nice on the cooler days. The outdoor pools were warmer though when the sun was out. The lazy river is a new addition since we last stayed at this site about 10 years ago - very popular with the kids. The pool was full to capacity during the hot weather in our 2nd week with the usual shortage of loungers.

We didn't use the takeaway but did eat in the restaurant, which is a good standard. The loo blocks are well laid out, each having a washing machine and dryers. Cleaning standards seemed very high as well, although the site was never full during our stay.

Clientele while we were there was a good mix of English, French, Dutch and Italian families, mostly with pre teen children. One slight criticism is that there isn't much in the way of entertainment for teenagers. Most nights the site was very quiet after 10:30.

Out and about we can recommend the Zoo Parc at Beauval - don't let the initial queues to get in put you off. Its well worth getting there early for the 1st Bird of Prey and sealion show, as later in the day you can fry in the sun on the spectator terraces. It's an easy cycle ride to the Chambord estate and worth paying to go in for the views from the roof alone. The site cycle hire is expensive at 17 euros a day and the bikes weren't the best maintained, but there are plenty to chose from. The local area has numerous cycle paths along the Loire and it makes for a great day out. A little further afield the Sunday market at Amboise is huge. We also visited the Leonardo da Vinci museum and gardens, but were a little underwhelmed but enjoyed the garden festival at Chaumont sur Loire.

Would we go again - in a few years time definitely yes, its ambience and location made a great holiday.
