We adore Argelès sur Mer for our holidays, but the car is often necessary, which is why we chose La Chapelle, as it is located right near the beach, so everything is easily accessible.
We arrived around 3pm, instead of 4pm as required, but the welcome was good. The peace that reigns on the site is rather odd. We had to pay a supplement for the pool, as that was not included in our fees. After having dealt with the paperwork, off we went to find our mobile home. Where would we be? Lots of the mobile homes were squashed together, and you wouldn't be able to park you car if it was large. However, we escaped that: we were in a mobile home in the shade, and with lots of space, luckily. The accommodation was clean, I'd even say very clean. We sorted out our stuff, and went off to the pool. There's a paddling pool, 2 pools at 1.5m deep, a large pool, a covered heated pool, and a double slide. The pools are cold, you have to be quite brave to go in. The water for the toboggans and for the mushroom in the paddling pool was often off, hence they were out of service.
In the evening, we went to find some chips at the snack bar, and were surprised that there was no shop, no bar, no entertainment, just the reception and a bakery/takeaway that had a few things for sale. And the shopkeeper there was not very friendly.
No noise in the evening.
In conclusion, I would say that the strong point of this site is its location right near the beach, and close to the shops. On the other hand, no effort is put into livening up the site. Our children were bored – don't count on having fun! We preferred La Sardane.
