Eweleaze Farm

Osmington, Weymouth

What a great Campsite, the place is beautiful lovely big fields so you're not over looked the facilities were good Hot showers and Non flushing loos (which were cleaned every morning) Only a couple of gripes shame there was not any hot water to wash your cooking dishes and the drive into the site is a bit hairy! One way traffic dirt track! Not great if you don't own a 4x4. But it is a working farm 11 months of the year so I guess that's why they haven't done a lot with the track. Also I guess it adds to the authenticity of farm life. I went the week before August Bank Holiday with my husband and another couple that have never camped before. So we were running a risk they may not like it! But they loved it, so much so we are planning on taking another couple next year and making it a regular yearly outing. On site shop and bakery great for fresh rolls and supplies. Also a pizza van other bits you may need, The jewel in the crown has to be the private beach! Nearly a mile of coast line complete with rock pools and Jurassic coast line to explore. Really a great place for all age groups. Can't wait till next year now.

Herston Yards Farm

Wash Pond Lane, Swanage

Me , my husband & 3 children stayed in a park home while my in-laws stayed in a log cabin next door and they were both fantastic ! The park home was VERY clean & had all the mod cons that you would want, the hot tub at my in-laws cabin was cleaned every day & the staff were very helpful. I must say I was not looking forward to arriving after reading the reviews but it was one of the best sites we have stayed at! We enjoyed it so much that all 11 of us are booked in for next year !!

Wareham Forest Tourist Park

Bere Road, North Trigon, Wareham

Hi, just read the reviews. They are all 100% correct. We had 5 nights on the site and really enjoyed the surroundings and closeness to places to visit. Well done owners and staff: keep up the good work. We will return. Many thanks John Dunford.

Bagwell Farm

Chickerell, Weymouth

We came here last year and was so impressed booked again this year, just come back after yet another fantastic weeks holiday. Asked for the same pitch as we had last year and we got it, the showers and toilets are spotless. If you want a good chilled out holiday camping, but still want to be able to live as comfortable as home, have an electrical hook up, didn’t miss anything from home, was going to bring the tv but glad I did not bother, the shop has all you need and the staff are helpful can’t wait to come back next year. Thanks Bagwell Farm for a great holiday.

Birchwood Tourist Park

Bere Road, Wareham

Having just spent 12 nights on Birchwood Tourist Park I have really enjoyed it. My Husband and I found the staff on site friendly and the facilities very very good: showers were clean and well looked after. The other people on the site were friendly and it is a very quiet site which we enjoyed. We spent most of our time exploring the area and it was nice to go back and relax in the peace and quiet. The pitches are very clean and well looked after like the whole site

Golden Cap Holiday Park

Seatown, Bridport

Golden Cap is one site in a group of five run by West Dorset Leisure Holidays, but it does not have a ‘big company' feel to it. The site entrance is only 100m or so from the beach, but you may have to walk considerably further within the site. The beach itself is all stones, and used more for fishing than for swimming or sandcastles. To find a sandy beach, you'll have to go further afield. Coastal footpaths are a bigger draw at this campsite. Direct from the site, you can take the path eastwards towards Bridport, or westwards to Charmouth and Lyme Regis. Note, however, that many sections have suffered landslips, and the ‘coastal path' is not always close to the sea. It's also very hilly! The entrance to the campsite is down a narrow lane, about 1km in length, from Chideock. People do get there safely with motor homes and big caravans, but you'll need to take care. There is a large number of mobile homes, but the site is well spread out, so it doesn't feel crowded or busy. Camping and touring have their own field, where the pitches are identified, but not very clearly. And you get a fairly free choice, so it's up to you where you go. The spot we chose, we finally realised, was not actually supposed to be a pitch, but we stayed put, and no one seemed to mind. You have a choice of solid base, gravel or grass, and most pitches have electricity. Pitches are all on a slope. There is also a large extra field for camping only, without electricity, and without its own toilet facilities. You'll have a bit of a walk from here to facilities, but it could be good if you're after peace and quiet, or if you're a big group. I think this field is only open in high season. Staff were all very helpful and friendly, and booking in was quick and easy. There is a continuous staff presence around the site, which must help to keep a lid on any rowdiness. We certainly didn't notice any bad behaviour, and it was generally quiet after 11pm. Facilities were always very clean (except when inconsiderate people had been using them) and I never experienced a queue for showers or toilets. Showers were free of charge, and all worked well. No entertainment or eating facilities on site, but there is the Anchor pub by the beach, or a couple more in Chideock, which is a short walk away. On site shop sells the essentials (milk, bread, coke, buckets & spades, gas) or there's a big Morrisons on the edge of Bridport. There is a large freezer for freezing your cold blocks (free of charge). Although we were there in the middle of August, the site was far from full. I suspect this is because (a) it is not ideal for children, as the adjacent beach is not sandy, and (b) it seems a bit expensive for a site with few facilities. Having said that, we (my wife and I, in our fifties) enjoyed our stay there, and would be happy to go there again.
